I just picked up my copy of the CE of this game and I just have to say that this game is freakin' awesome. The graphics are undescribable. I will tell more after I actually get to play the game.

Its out? I thought it was gonna be released Weds. And how do you know if the game is sweet when you haven't even played it. I think you mean the graphics are sweet. :D

I have it and lemme say it is one of the best games I have ever played.... The gameplay is simply fantasic and to say as much about the graphics is an understatement. You truely have to see it to believe it. It looks like your watching a movie. It should be noted that this is the first Splinter cell game I've played but I am more than satasfied. Just when I was about to sell my Xbox haha.

Must have been shipped to stores today for release tomarrow. One of my friends on my friends list was playing, but he works at EB.

Is the collector's edition worth it? I heard it came with the soundtrack CD, but looks like the second disc is a DVD video sorta deal like Halo 2's CE. Having the OST might be worth the extra 5 bucks, but the behind the scenes stuff is usually a bit too self-congratulatory for my tastes.

Hmm, what exactly do you get with Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory Limited Collector's Edition? Is the metal case cool looking?...

Basically, with the CE you get a bonus DVD with content about the game somewhat similar to Halo 2 but the collectors metal tin is way thicker than the one used for Halo 2.

Zewone, I was watching the bonus disk when I was posting to the thread.

Also, I got the call from EB Games where I pre-ordered just before I left work so I went out and picked it up, yesterday.

I may rent this.....I never really like Splinter Cell because of the trial-and-error...and too slow. I hated having to restart each level when they saw me. I guess they got rid of that on this version though.
Are the CEs limited to the game stores, or are Targets and TRUs gonna get them in as well?
^^

Wow, the metal case for Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory Limited Collector's Edition is thicker than Halo 2's Limited Collector's Edition!...:D

Is Chaos Theory a big improvement over the first two? After playing Pandora Tomorrow, it seemed like the difference was subtle. Reminded me of playing a Madden game. Basically the same as the previous version. Is this the case here? I don't understand what makes this one get these ridiculously great scores.

And I'm talking single player...not online.

Because unlike with the other titles you can actually go through the game the way you want to. Instead of sneaking around and not causing alarms, you can just play through each level with fifth freedom. So, the only thing you mainly need to do is hide the bodies. You can shoot to kill almost every enemy on the game.

Yeah but that doesnt work most of the time from the amount I've played. Basically at the start of every level you have the option to play stealth/aggresive(not the word but close ;)) and can go through the level like that. THere are also multiple paths to get by enemies, but you always have to get by them... That is you have to get from point a to point b within the level and not skip anything.

Super Target did have the CEs. Had five of them. Picked up one. The case is better than the Halo 2 CE since they don't stack the bonus disc and the game disc on the same spindle. Otherwise, it's the same case. The front and back case graphics are nice though.

So far, just playing the COOP game with my bro and we're having a blast. Cant wait to try out the single player game.

Only thing that is pissing me off right now is that I preordered the CE at Gamestop but the dumbass clerk entered into the computer that I wanted the regular version (even though I told him I wanted the CE). So I had no choice but to get the regular version instead of the CE.

There is one glaring problem that happens in this game that annoys me, but it might not bother some (I still love the game though).

Lets say you get detected. There is a framerate problem if you are in close quarters. You'll recognize it right away. Test it by going to stab someone with a knife and getting detected.
It's LAME that the CE is not a huge box like I saw. It's the same size as the Halo 2 case.
Yeah, plus the PA Spy Manual isn't actually printed. I've heard the thick case is going to be for the PC version. If that isn't the case, then those cases serve no purpose and were distributed with the specific intent of confusing everyone.

If that CE case was on XBox, I would've gotten it. Hastings had it, GameCrazy had it, Rhino said tomorrow.. I picked up Iron Phoenix instead, since I suck pretty badly at Splinter Cell games.
What's this huge box you guys are talking about? Was this for PC only or a misunderstanding on the ads for the Xbox CE?
I (and some other people) saw a huge CE box at GameCrazy and other stores. It might've been the PC box. I saw it at GameCrazy, it was just a promotional item, or something. It was huge and thicker than a bible. It was insane. I just assumed it was for the XBox version, especially since GameCrazy isn't getting any PC versions.

!!WOW!!

Look at this guy..

There are definately some nice improvements over SCPT. In single and multi-player. Besides the drastically improved graphics (which are sick), the most obvious addition is co-op. Co-op is a totally separate campaign, not just 2 people in the single player. The game definately feels a lot less restricting and frustrating. The best thing they've done so far with this series was eliminating that damned checkpoint system and allowing you to save anywhere. That is going to make this game a hell of a lot more accessible for the average gamer.

From what I've played, probably one of the top 5 game on Xbox. And considering single player, co-op, and multiplayer, probably one of the only games truly with the $50 launch price.

I definitely wish they'd somehow made the single player co-op as well as the special co-op missions. Sure, balancing the missions would be difficult, but I'd be willing to pay more for the game as a result.

I remember playing through the co-op missions in Tenchu on PS2 and thinking WOW if this was the whole game...

Online co-op kicks so much ass. The whole game kicks ass. If you are a half decent gamer (skills wise) pick this up and enjoy yourself.

This is the only game that I think was worth the pre-order. I'm happy that this was the first game I ever pre-ordered. I don't like pre-ordering games because how badly most games suck and can be beat in a week. So, I am happy that there is finally one that kick ass and takes names like this one. I feel special because I got someone to buy this game when they were looking for something to play when I pre-ordered Dead II Rights 2 yesterday. I am glad to pass the word about this great game.

^^All I could think of while I read that was how many times you used "pre-order".

I'll finally tear into the game tonight (actually opened it last night, but had no time).

Same here, I opened it but didn't find the time to play it.

I got the first Splinter Cell used for $5 when I got my Xbox in November, but I haven't played it yet, not even once. I kind of want Pandora Tomorrow and Chaos Theory for their supposedly awesome online modes, but (1) I want to finish the games in order and (2) I'd probably get my ass handed to me online since I've never played a SC game before.

I may start SC today actually, but I have quite a few unplayed games and over a dozen "in progress" so I don't know.

I've got SC:pT up for sale/trade if you want one. It is mint/complete. /shameless plug

I just got this game today, I love it so far. I would really like to play some XBOX live with you chaps my tag is

Loggjaw

I will be on tonight for a while then on weekends

Seeing as how I love all things Splinter Cell, I HAD to pick this up today at BB (luckuly after credits and coupon, only shelled out 35 for the game

I really liked the single player in the first 2, there was improvement in the first 2 although nowhere near as much as CT with its non-linear missions...

Add to that the kick ass online mode AND the co-op (perfect bonding material for me and the wife)... I cant wait to immerse myself some more in this game

Heh heh heh...

...bitches. I'd never store my game in the big box though. The Halo 2 LE actually does a better job of keeping the discs separate than the big ass CT promotional box. But at least I can display it. :)

I'm still pissed they didn't shrink wrap the game at all. Halo 2 LE was shrink wrapped outside the plastic sleeve, and it kept it nice and scratch free. CT wasn't shrink wrapped at all (just had those adhesive plastic tabs you see on PC game boxes) and the plastic sleeve is all $$$$ing scratched up. $$$$ing Ubisoft assholes.

What the?!? What's the big monstrous box for? The PC version?

Oh wait...the promo box some people were talking about. Lots of wasted space in there.

If anyone wants to play tonight just look me up. I'm looking forward to getting back into some Splinter Cell. The only bad thing so far is I wish the hospital level and the subway station one would have made it back in from Pandora Tomorrow. I liked both of those a lot. zewone sorry I got disconnected from our game earlier.

Well, glad I rented it....didn't like the first two, and still don't like it. I'm sure if I like slow games, I'd love it...I just don't have the patience.

Better than the others though. However, I went in running-n-gunning....not the best option.

I'm sure they were going to use the large box, but then realized that a) doubled up discs are GAY, and b) they would save an assload of money using a digital version of the Penny Arcade spy manual which is impossible to read on a TV, therefore they didn't need that extra space. Then they distributed the extra big boxes as promo items.
