Splinter Cell: Conviction - Delayed to Winter/Spring '08
People beg for innovation, and something new from established series, and when they do it with Splinter Cell, people boo it.....
A cook has learned how to cook a certain fish dish to perfection and has cooked it for his friends every Christmas. One year, he decides to take out the fish and add lamb.

Folks, this is what's at stake...friends will be lost, presents will be unexchanged, and laughter will be sinister.
Message board banter when Double Agent releases -

"I'm so tired of this franchise... it needs something new."

Message board banter when "something new" is unveiled -

"OMG ALL I WANT IS OLD SKOOL SPLINTER CELL."
There's a lot of situations like that. Everyone bitches about how red barrels always explode, but the second one explodes that wasn't red, people bitch
fucking hell. Whatever happened to the classic STEALTH night-time vision-goggle gameplay of the good old games?

Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory ruled, but everything I've seen since then has been doing this fucking "daylight" shit that drives me up the fucking wall.

Oh well, I guess Chaos Theory the end of real Splinter Cells, and now their just making this shit to appeal to dickwad "run around and beat up people" pseudo-gamers.

Hopefully MGS takes a page out of Splinter Cell's book for MGS4, because obviously Splinter Cell isn't going to. *sigh* Where have all the decent stealth games gone? Long time passing. *sigh*
Take some fucking ritalin.

You have to blend in to your surroundings being a covert agent. They aren't Batman or Count Dracula, they do occasionally have to do shit during the day. SC is trying this. If you don't like it, don't buy it and maybe they'll go back to black. You could even venture so far as to try out a demo before you go Jack Bauer.

Or, you can continue to be a twat.

Is it me or does it seem like PyroGamer is ruining every thread he posts in? :whistle2:?

I hope you go back to your oldself soon PyroGamer...

This looks interesting. Deffinitely a departure for the series. I could see it being really good or really bad depending how they pull it off. Here's hoping.

P.S. The haircut does suck... a lot.

Well since Sam is out in the open that means he can take more then three shots this time before he dies, right ? ;)

Honestly this change could go either way. But I'm all for it as long as get the bad ass multiplayer and a decent storyline. Double Agent wasn't that bad and the online was rather enjoyable, however, when the XBox version is better then the 360 version (at least single player wise) you have problems.

Is this game coming out this holiday? Too bad Splinter Cell doesn't come out every March anymore :\

The trailer looks fantastic. However, I'm afraid that this will get highly overlooked with all the big name games coming out this fall.

I don't know, it does look fun, the graphics look amazing and I'm sure I'll still have fun playing it. However, SC will always be stealth suit, goggles, and a high and tight for me.

I just hope they dont totally abandon the old style missions since I could play those forever and never get tired of them.

I'm still hating the hair cut and hope to god they offer a haircut DL. I would pay money for it :p Even bald is better then the unibomber look.
I don't know if I can play the game without thinking im some sort of sexual predator. His look is just creepy.

http://media.xbox360.ign.com/media/902/902601/vids_1.html EDIT2: Just watched the trailer...still looks like the classic Splinter Cell we all know and love, there's still seems to have a lot of strategy and tactics involved.
And fightin' ! Looks like there's a lot more variety in the takedowns, rather than just the same chokehold every time, you can hurl guys across the room, grapple and punch, etc. Can't wait to get this.

Wow, that's a SC game? I'm not complaining, I think it looks like a great $20 game (and we all know it'll get there pretty quickly).

This doesn't really look like splinter cell...I'm thinking they got all excited about Assassins Creed and forgot that Splinter cell was about stealth. It looks like they tried to make a modern day AC or something...

I like the new ideas; my biggest bitch about SC is that the sneaking around got old after a while. It got especially old when you would have to replay the same scene 10 times because you sounded an alarm at the last minute. This one, hopefully, looks to ease up on the linear gameplay and allow more hand-to-hand combat.

I'll pick this up when it hits $40 2 months after launch.

If they had made the ai better then the whole night sneaking wouldnt have gotten old....I mean come on thta first mission in Double Agent where you sky dive and come up through the water was bad@ss

Peter Moore lied to us
He said everygame you see (e3 montage) will be out this year, with the exception of RE5.

And this just in...
Ubisoft announced today during its financial report for the the first fiscal quarter ended June 30, 2007, that Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Conviction has been delayed. The game, which was originally scheduled for release in the third fiscal quarter of 2007-08, will now be released in the fourth fiscal quarter; that means it will ship sometimes between January and March of 2008.

Bummer but if it makes the game better, go for it. I'll wait until 2010 if it winds up as good (although in a different way obviously) as Chaos Theory was.

And I could still care less. They shouldnt call this a splinter cell game because its not. They just copied off of Assassins Creed and Dead Rising

I am so freaking glad, or should I say my wallet is glad especially after Kane and Lynch and Army of Two along with a whole boat load of other potential sweet games come out at the same time. Plus I will hopefully still be busy with GTA IV.
