So I went to Will Wright's Spore demo in San Francisco's Apple Store earlier tonight.

Let me say that the vehicle editors are 10x better than the creatures one. You can effortlessly create awesome ships, land vehicles, airships, and spacecraft. The way that the game procedurally textures the vehicles is stunning, both artistically and technically.

Will Wright has an entire collection of spacecraft he created, including the Space Battleship Yamato (from that one anime).

He made a pirate ship with a steamboat paddle wheel in about 10 seconds. Then he made some spacecraft that looked like an X-Wing crossed with an Imperial Troop Transport crossed with a lunar rover (if you can begin to imagine that).

The creature creator during the civilization phase of the game allows you to deck out your creature with tons of hilarious accessories, like derby hats, mustaches, and armor. When Will put a Roman helmet on his creature, it made this exaggerated Roman military grunt.

Oh yes, there's even a music editor where you can procedurally generate national anthems for your civilization.

He told the audience that some poor saps at EA will manually look at penis creatures that've been tagged as innapropriate by the community and delete them! What a job!

Wow, that sounds awesome. This might be the first mac game i've ever bought!

I played with just the trial for about an hour, it really took me by surprise! I'm very interested in the real game now.

Oh, and am I the only one who never gave any thought to making some kinda penis monster? Didn't even cross my mind. I'm not sure what's up with all the dudes obsessed with penises...

I'm having troubles angling the wings. When I grab the ball they just jump randomly around (generally cross each other) and only adjust in a circle parallel to the spine. I cant oscillate them outward at all.
