Spring Update 08 **May Fools No Update >_>**
Hopefully Clan support and removing demos from your played games are in
Considering last fall's update made zero score trial games not show up in your list anymore, don't count on it. If it was worth the effort to remove old games, they would have done it then.

I didn't make a new thread since I figured it'd be included in this, but these has been a change to friend lists on Xbox.com. Now, you can view friends of your friends from the site (good) and the friends are now listed on separate pages (bad).
I want the ability to delete all game profiles that have a zero achievement score on my gamertag: those old XBLA trials, games I hated or barely played.
I really really want this, only I dont want it limited to zero point achievments, I think it should be any that you just dont want listed. That and a big BC update!

No way. You want the points, you show your work. Unless you mean removing the games from both your list and your gamerscore, which would be fine although it seems pointless to me.

Thanks, but that's not good enough, it only helps people who have the RROD and get their console replaced (and jump thru a few hoops). You should be able to deauthorize/reauthorize a console at will, just like in iTunes. If your disc drive breaks and you say screw it I want HDMI anyway so I'm just going to get a new console, there is no reason why that content should not be able to be moved to the new machine, and the old one deauthorized. Would benefit the customer and also benefit Microsoft.

I'd like to see added:

The ability to eject discs with just the controller.
The ability to switch between video connections without having to take out or plug in cables.

.mkv? :D

Yeah right.

edit: That's very weird. I typed my comment before I even saw the MKV comments. But my comment still stands. There is no WAY mkv support will be added. It's like a thumbs up for piracy.

I'd like the ability to insert a disc but not boot it (stay on the dashboard)... and if this is already a feature how do I change it?
How about they just fix the DRM issues with XBLA content?
I could swear that this was already available...

Considering that the fall update went down in November, I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't see a spring update until May.

I don't think this option exists: but to not have messages come up when friends sign on to Live. It's really annoying when those come up when I'm, say, watching a movie.
I've also wondered this. In fact, it seemed ridiculous when the Xbox 360 launched without one, considering the Dreamcast even had one. One theory that I've heard is that by putting one in MS would essentially be competing with themselves. What's the point of a PC with Windows if you can do almost everything from a 360? That was the same argument for why they kept a keyboard off the system for a while, though the controller one kind of nullified that point.

Who knows, but it does seem weird.
They really wouldn't be competing with themselves, but rather, expanding their IE market share; and we all know how much MS loves to have the IE market share expand.

you can do that already (its the way I have mine set up). Go to the system blade, click on console settings and its in the startup option (gives you three choices for what to do when you start the system: start disc, dashboard or Media Center)

and when the system is already on and you insert a disc, it doesn't automatically start the game up

Who?

That's not what he meant.

He meant that when you put a disc in, he doesn't want it to start automatically (while he's already on the dashboard).

He wants to have to press another button, I'm not sure why he wants to, but that's what he wants.

Just put it in the tray but leave it open...then when you are ready select 'close tray'.

Right. In order to play my 360 I have to be near the entertainment center because my component switcher isn't operated by a remote. I don't leave games in the tray overnight (for the most part) so when I'm setting up sometimes I want to navigate the dashboard and check out what my friends are doing before booting up the disc.
Well...why don't you just get whatever you need to do on the dashboard done first before you put the a game in?
Because that would require me to get up from the couch twice! :D
Just put it in the tray but leave it open...then when you are ready select 'close tray'.
yea i have to do that sometimes, but its a pain in the ass when i accidentally close the tray. I hope they change it so that it will leave it on the dashboard when you change a game.
I still want to be able to have your theme's change everyday/week/month. That way when I turn on my 360 it's a different background all the time.
Second, I'm using the winter fun pack 2004 for Windows to change my background on my PC every 4 hours. I'd think they could write something into the dashboard to do the same.

This is already possible.

Start up your 360, and goto the dashboard. Next, slide all the way to the right, reaching the system blade. Press A to enter console settings. Now scroll down to "Startup."

Pick one of the three options. In your case, pick "Xbox Dashboard."

If you get tired of doing that, then set it back to Disc, and know in the future that you can press Guide when in a game and press Y to exit the game and go to the dashboard.

Not just during startup, anytime.

we arnt talking about startup, we are talking about when you start the console and insert a game

Yeah but his point is if you are inserting a game at that time, you already had to get up.
If you want you don't have to close the tray yet, and when ready select 'close tray'.

If you are just starting the console up and the game is in, then the above advice will
take you to the dashboard instead of the game and you can launch it when ready.

All the possibilities are covered there.

Except for the actual feature being made available by Microsoft.

Heck I have autorun in windows disabled, give us that option so you can change games in the tray without booting them. I don't like having my tray open longer than needed since there is plenty of pet hair floating around in my house. Could even just hold down a specific button to override the autorun too.

DRM fix was my #1 wish and they seem to have improved it a bit recently. DivX was my #2 wish and we have it. My #3 wish would be 16:10 support. And my #4 wish would be to fly.
Don't think its posted but I got a message from XBL telling me that XBL will be down for a few hours on April 1st...
National Bagel day? :hot:?
Haven't they pretty much done that now? I'll find out soon enough, mine is out in Mesquite, but I thought when you got your 360 back now it was in a mode where you could redownload your content and it would be relicensed to the new console.
It'll work on any content for a fixed console, though not if you change consoles by someone else's warranty or buy a new console.

Fixing this would leave them open to wide piracy of XBLA titles, as they'd pretty much have to remove the DRM on them to get it to work. Shame really.

wouldn't it be great if the april 1st update made every system pretend to red ring for a couple seconds and then a giant picture of bill gates ass pops up on the screen with "got" and "ya" on each cheek. unfortunately it will just cause all are systems to actually red ring instead and when we finally get our refurbished systems back months later we'll power our 360s on and say "wow new and improved implementation of intrusive ads... neat!"
it also states it will be upgrading...?
I deleted it, so I don't know...I believe it said "maintenance"
So, basically, an update in preparation for the update.
it happens everytime they have the updates, the servers go down. I would image, pure speculation, that they reset the servers as well as add the back end code necessary for the next update during the scheduled downtime. Once the servers are back up and working, they probably test out the new updates and make last minute adjustments, add/take away certain things before the update hits us.

I'm new to Xbox Live, but it makes sense, and always up for updates as long as they allow a better product.

Of course, I'm sure somewhere in their code they're extracting our DNA through hidden sensors in the 360 controllers. ;)

Putting a browser in the 360 won't happen. Microsoft still wants you to buy a computer, they don't want the 360 to replace it. I'll bet my savings on that.

Clan support and multiple chat seems simple enough to put in there, so do it already MS!

DRM issues need to be fully fixed NOW. You should be able to deauthorize a console and re-issue them at will for the reasons stated earlier. If I upgrade to an eliite then I'm screwed? Doesn't seem right.
I wish they would put a browser up... but then again!
yea its not like we don't have the keyboard and mouse and we have chat pad and analog sticks for mouse
