Sprint/Skate 2 Contest: Win Free MS Points

I'm surprised nobody else noticed this yet. The title on the Official Rules Page at the link says this:

"THE “SPRINT NOW FOR MICROSOFT PENIS” SWEEPSTAKES
OFFICIAL RULES"

Edit:

I guess someone else did notice. The third page wouldn't load before I posted, so I just found out lol

I did that. I was checking out other parts of the site, found a page that said edit, and did a kind of "no way can I really edit this...". Sadly like some sort of frat boy all I could think to do was change points to penis and hit save.

It worked. lol

does anyone know for sure if once you enter you're entered for all the days following too or do you have to enter each day for a chance to win on that day? thanks for any help.

Edit: Nevermind... just read that they don't.

I can't believe you guys caught the "penis" thing and not the

"(1,000) Prizes: Each winner will receive a token code redeemable for 8000000 Microsoft Points. Approximate Retail Value of each prize: $100000."

they better fix that if these are supposed to be the official rules.

So do you get a confirmation if you send an e-mail? I've entered twice and haven't seen anything.

Yep. You should get a message back within minutes, thanking you for entering. And, if you try to enter twice, you get a 'you already entered' message. This is true for both txt and email entries.

But 5thfinger does a good job at detecting multiple entries by the same computer, so if you already entered using a different email address, or if you abused the McDonalds promotion (also by 5thfinger), your entries may be getting blocked/ignored.
while playing skate 2 today i see all these billboards that read:

TEXT "SKATE" TO 57895 FOR A CHANCE TO WIN 800 MICROSOFT POINTS.

this ad is by sprint and at the bottom it says it doesnt expire until 5/30 but you have to use your points fast so for everyone that wants free ms points good luck

thanks op.. but i cant view the first link of the rules? It says i have to log in?

Just put Sprint or Skate or something, it really doesn't matter.

I won! In my winning email it gave me the code and then this:
"Microsoft Points awarded in this Sweepstakes will expire from a user’s account at 11:59pm PT on June 30, 2010. Any portion of the awarded Microsoft Points not used by this expiration date will be removed from the user’s account. Content purchased wil l not expire."

How do I know if I used those specific points if I have some in my account? I don't want to end up losing points some how.

So I've sent them an email earlier today, and another bunch recently, never once recieved a confirmation for any of them. Is there something I'm missing here?

According to MS: Promotional points with expiration dates are automatically redeemed first before purchased points.

Please note the expiration is in 2010?!? But, I think that may be a type-o... Since promotional points usually expire around 30 days from the end of the promotion, I think it was supposed to be 2009... The McDonalds points (also a 5thfinger promotion) expire on June 30, 2009 (according to the email from that promotion)...

Use the Microsoft Billing and Account Management page for more information regarding points on your account. Supposedly, if you have points that will expire in the upcoming 30 days, there is a warning/indication on that page...

You should be getting a response within minutes thanking your for entering in the contest, or telling you that you already registered for that day if you sent a second submission. My guess is you got blacklisted...

Did you try to cheat on their McDonalds promotion last month? The 5thfinger guys seem pretty good at detecting attempts to get around the one-per rule. I would not be surprised if they are blacklisting people that try to cheat.

I hope TPTB don't overreact and do something extreme.

I've been submitting via text and email the last two days, won via text message today.

Yes you get an email/text back confirming your entry, you do have to enter every day, subject of email doesn't seem to matter long as you put name and address.

So far I'm 50/50 for winning from txt messages lol. Apparently this is going every day till 6/26 according to the txt message I received as confirmation.

Thanks for clearing that up. I just bought Geometry Wars 2 with my prize! Great game!

i thought these points don't ever really expire.. has anyone ever had points actually disappear on them? I'm pretty sure I have read in the past people that had received points that were still valid way past a stated expiration point... I could be wrong though I guess?

by the way I won 800! thanks OP! free points are the best

The points you purchase (i.e. a 'card' from a retail location) will never expire.

The 'promotional' points COULD expire, generally and technically speaking. This happened to a bunch of people with points from a U.K. GTA IV promotion... Google for more info on that fiasco.

However, I have yet to see any points 'expire' from my own account. I know that I still have points from the Dream Car promotion in one of my secondary accounts (those that were one-per-xbl-account) and they were supposed to expire a long, long, time ago...

I suspect that this is a MS/Live strategy to get people to use their points up quick, so that they have to go buy more points when new DLC becomes available. Gets people to buy crap they may be on the fence about, instead of banking it until something they really want comes along... The fact that there is technically a possibility that the points could actually expire is probably enough to push some of the fence-sitters into buying some XBLA, etc...

I also suspect that the promotions people would have to know exactly when the promotion will take place, etc, and once they ordered time-locked codes from MS, there would be no way to delay or postpone the project/promotion... So, from the organizer's standpoint, it is in their best interest to order non-time-locked codes just in case they run into delays.

So, it could go either way... If you plan no sitting on the points, then I would suggest that you stop by the Microsoft Billing and Account Management page every couple weeks, just in case...

thanks for the input A Gamer

the get people to hurry up and use their points strategy does make sense... but I figured I would chime in because i remembered past promos with timed points that never expired (I wish I had a specific example I could recall)

either way I had no idea the MS management page existed so thanks for that too

1 entry for either email or text per day, and the entry wont roll over for the next day so u gotta enter every day

if it was by email, they might not have accepted the email due to it not containing all the info. if it was by text, some phones cant text to this number (dont know why, just noticed on friends phones that they get a weird message saying they cant text premium numbers or something like that)

Sweet, my girlfriend won me some this morning through txt. No luck on the two emails or my phone yet.Yesterday was the first day she played around 7:20 pm cst.

I'm using my to Banjo 1. I couldn't warrant 15 for a game that I still had on n64 and played but now it will just be 400 of mine. Hopefully I win on my line to put towards banjo 2.
Do you need to enter once a day, or is it like McDonalds with the rolling entries?
entries do NOT roll over like the McD's one did.

Seems like a pretty high concentration of winners here.
*crosses fingers.
Been entering for a few days now.
