Based on the long running comic strip of the same name published in MAD magazine, Spy vs. Spy is a fast-paced, madcap action-espionage game. Players assume the role of a Spy, whose mission is to retrieve top-secret information, while trying to outwit and outlast rival Spies. The usual Spy vs. Spy madness ensures with players using special Spy gadgets, setting outrageous traps and wielding ludicrously cumbersome weaponry. Shooter, platform and puzzle elements make Spy vs. Spy a unique multiplayer action-combat game.

I know that I'll defintely be picking this one up even supports XBL, heck at $19.99, how can you pass this one up.

I was at EB last night, and I saw it on the shelf. I had been aware of the game, but I didn't realize it had been released. Anyone tried it yet?

I'm thinking that anybody expecting to relive old-school gaming moments is going to be severely disappointed. The screens look horribly mediocre.

I picked it up yesterday. I haven't had a chance to play it yet, but I'm looking forward to giving it some time tonight. The instruction book indicated that there is even a classic mode in the game which is a 3D version of the original game. I might have to play this online some tonight.
My biggest grip is that its in color. I remember the comic strip being in black-n-white.
Just pretend it's the Sunday edition.
I was wondering about this and Close Combat: First to Fight. Are they any good??
Close Combat apparently scored a 2.8 in OXM. I haven't read the review yet, but I'd think Spy Vs. Spy is the better bet at this point.
I used to play this on Sega Master System :)
I too used to play this on teh SMS, this game PWNED on teh SMS my brother when we were like 6 & 7 would play the SMS all the time, anyone remember Action Fighter? That'd be a sweetass remake!!

I remember renting SvS for NES one weekend and only got it to work on my system once. I was super pissed.

Now that's what I'm talking about...anyone find any screenshots of the revamped classic mode?

Yeah, GR just has a few scores from European magazines, no real reviews. Leads me to believe they may not have actually played it (nothing new in this business). I'd love to hear some impressions from gamers who've played it.
Odd...Gamestop shows the PS2 version not coming out until May 23rd.
XBOX Version is out now, but PS2 has been delayed till May 23, will update post to avoid any confusion.

Do you know if the PS2 version was a port of the Xbox version? Maybe that is what caused the delay.
I used to play this on Sega Master System :)
Yeah I have this for the SMS. Remember, it wasn't a cartridge, it was one of those cards. I have the Genesis adapter so I can it there too. But I still want this one!

I played the first two levels of the single player story mode and then played a little online. They really did a good job of making it feel like the original game. I'm thinking this could be a pretty fun online game once enough people pick it up.

I was browsing the Gamefaqs.com site about this game. Someone said that the PS2 version has been delayed indefinitely (cancelled). Is this true?

Spy vs. Spy infiltrates retailers

Mad Magazine's sneaky sleuths duke it out on the Xbox; PS2 version sabotaged.

Global Star today announced that its action game Spy vs. Spy is now available for the Xbox. The game was developed by Vicious Cycle, the studio behind Robotech: Invasion.

Spy vs. Spy is based on the comic featured in the slapstick-humor-filled Mad Magazine. The comic follows the madcap adventures of two unnamed spies--one garbed in white, one in black. The hapless characters often lured each other into false senses of security before disposing of each other with oversized mallets and well-placed sticks of dynamite.

In the game, players will assume the role of a spy and attempt to outwit up to three opponents. Spread across the game's 12 levels will be various weapons, booby traps, and gadgets to help the spies take each other out.

The PlayStation 2 version, previously scheduled for a May release, has been canceled.

Spy vs. Spy is rated T for Teen and sells for $19.99. For more information on the game, check out GameSpot's previous coverage.

That score for First to Fight from OXM is absolutely ludicrous. A game that scores that low generally has almost no redeeming qualities. Now I'll grant you, First to Fight may not be everyone's cup of tea, but the game isn't THAT bad. It got a 8.0 from IGN, and so far it's averaging an 8.9 at gamespot for reader ratings.

LOL... Was this a sleeper? I never heard of it. Like 6 months ago I was playing the NES one with my cousin.

Just play it on your B&W tv, problem solved. :p

This game looks pretty good I might have to pick it up.

Maybe I just didnt give it enough time, but I rented it and had some friends over for Co-Op...and it (to me) was muuuuch close to 2.8 than 8, I love Full Spectrum Warrior, Ghost Recon, and that style. But this crap was sooooo cheap looking, I dunno. The graphics are poop, the voice-overs are cringe-worthy (WTF my commander has a british accent with a lisp??), and the animation was pathetic. There was basically nothing worth getting excited about! Ah well, maybe Chaos Theory has spoiled me, but I'd definately say this is a renter first!
