Wow, that just seems like a ton for a single location (especially in 2011-- who goes to the store anymore? :lol

. I guess this series really is big business.
Agreed.
The last pre-orders I had in-store at a GS were God of War 3 (only did to get one of the pre-order character skins, and never picked up said pre-order) and Mass Effect 2 (to get a second CE as well as the GS exclusive pre-order items).
Everything else I've preordered has been on Amazon, save the rare exception of some GS exclusive worth getting (Assassin's Creed Revelations Signature Edition) or one I couldn't find anywhere else (Forza 4 CE, as I missed pre-ordering in on Amazon) and that's been on GS.com.
Fenton gets a lot of people who don't shop around online (or even have internet access) and its programmed into their brain, game = Gamestop. Also the clerks there have to ask if they have their console connected to the internet kinda to warn them about online passes and the like, but mainly because you wouldn't recommend the same games to people who don't have interent vs. ones that do.
Fenton is the 2nd highest volume GS on the MO side of the St. Louis area, about $2 M in volume. Highest is one of the stores in Florissant. There's a store on the IL side (not Scott Air Force Base but the next closest) that does double that but 60% of their business is handhelds, with the vast majority being in PSP.
And those MW3 numbers were told to me by the new manager. Every store manager in the company with over 700 preorders had to take part in a special conference call last week.
That Fenton store is stuck in the middle of Gravois Bluffs, so there's plenty of traffic in the area, even with a Target, Walmart and BB in the neighborhood and no more Gamecrazy. Plus, since it's in Fenton, it gets traffic from Arnold, Imperial, South County (Mehlville/Oakville) plus some other places. The GS stores in the SoCo mall are too many for the area, as there's three in the mall or right outside the mall (former EB, original GS in the mall and the former Funco -> EB -> GS outside the mall) and I bet they all scavenge each others' sales.
I'd have to guess at that IL store in question to be either O'Fallon IL or Fairview Heights IL that does that volume of business.
Florissant, there's not much out that way since the BB out that way disappeared, save maybe a Target or a Walmart.
