CAGiversary!
Hey just wanted to see what other CAG's were from STL.

Um.. I guess on place i have found a lot of cheap games has been Software Plus on Olive rd. 5 miles west of 270

I picked up Halo 2 for 12.99 there and Midnight Club Dub Edition for 19.99 as well.

Both where new by the way

that one doesnt surprise me, bad location and still setup in the old store layout. hard to see from the road too

That's it -- it's great because it has a little bit of everything. Soulards is pretty good too but there are local alternatives in almost every town, so you should be able to find something similar in your town.

The Ellisville bestbuy will still take @gamer coupons. They have the Darkness 2 marked down to $32 and the coupon makes it $22+tax. I didn't see any copies of Yakuza: Dead Souls (now that I haven't seen this in the manchester store either). They also had Steeldiver and Pilotwings for 3DS marked at $32, so $12+tax after the coupon.

And I would like to add they had all vita games marked 20% off unlick everything else. They just picked and chose titles to mark down, I wanted to grab Soul Calibur V CE but it was still full price. If anyone is interested.

Anyone have feedback from the Target Mobile trade-in promotion? Which Target in/around SC/Fenton should one go to and which should be avoided? Going to trade in CoD 2 and Bullet Witch for Sonic Generations.

I was going to hit the SC Target this afternoon and try to do some trades, would've gone to that one and Kirkwood on the way home had I not left work as late as I did.

Assuming SC is no issue, I'll do all my trades there, otherwise, I'll go to either Fenton or Kirkwood, probably Kirkwood.

Also, in unrelated news, St. Louis now has four Five Below stores, according to yesterday's news. Stores are supposed to be in Chesterfield, Ballwin, Brentwood and Fairview Heights.

First day in STL and I manage to get hail damage on my car. Do you guys know any body shops that might fix a dent for a reasonable price?

That sucks man. The storms we had yesterday were wicked, I was caught on the highway coming back from a movie and it sucked. I've got nothing on the body shop front for you though.

I hit up the Hampton one and there were no issues with my trade in -- picked up Dead Island although I was tempted by Sonic Generations.

Sure does suck. Glad I wasnt hurt, as I happened to be driving right next to the stadium when that hail started.

For anyone looking for Disney Universe, Mid River Mall Best Buy is completely out of stock...
Huh?
I have a feeling this relates to a BB trading ban by a DM.

Don't know about BB, but anyone who gets banned from GS anywhere from West County Mall-south (ask Velo214) is out of luck as all of those GS (WCM, Chesterfield Commons, Manchester, Sunset, Eureka, Fenton, Arnold, all of the SC stores including Telegraph, then all the stores down I-55 all the way to Cape Girardeau and the stores down I-44 to Washington) are run by the same DM.

Not a ban, but a particular overzealous manager has over-extended his reach and I'm sure is using the DM as his proxy to make my experience at all stores in this district miserable.

SC = Saint Charles? What about Belleville, IL?

I'd guess that the Manchester, Fenton, Crestwood, and South County stores are under one DM, while Chesterfield, Bridgeton, St. Peters and Brentwood are under another DM. Fairview Heights, IL and Edwardsville, IL might also be the same DM as the other stores in the Chesterfield/Bridgeton/Brentwood/St. Peters group.

This is me just guessing at it, though that would be the logical blocks of organization I can think of for the St. Louis area. They could all be under one DM for what I know of it.

Details about his "reach" and what happened is always good to share for those of us trying to avoid asshat managers.

So, is Saint Charles not within the same district as those other stores? The Bridgeton stores and the Mid Rivers stores are at a different district?

Well, I figured that any one manager at any single BBY has no authority in the rest of them, but if he's using the DM, which is a position I'm told that doesn't give much of a fuck about consumer complaints and probably just auto-signed whatever this guy told him to do, it makes sense why what this one manager said affects me in all stores in the district.

ProTip: Don't go to Brentwood

Details please. Perhaps they won't listen to one person but if enough word gets out there not to shop at this BB because of X incident then they might change their tune.

And all the posters here are just supposing -- we have no way to know how the stores are divided or even if they are divided by district. These lines tend to be pretty arbitrary. The only way you could know where the lines are drawn is if you were or are a current BB employee, and even then you'd probably have to be management to know.

I know a guy that works for BB, I'll ask him next time I see him, but it may be a while.

So I figured we'd start listing what Target's had what in terms of Kindle Fire in anticipation of the potential clearance.

Fenton has 8 units left, still full price.

well i have 2 days left of my vacation, I guess I will go look for Kindles see if they are clearanced or not

The brentwood store is so bad. I can't get a straight answer from anyone there about anything. I'm glad I gave up on BB months ago and only use them for when they are selling something crazy cheap.

Pretty much all the stores in STL have some really, really bad attributes. I feel like the St. Charles store must be in a different district that has a DM with a brain, but who knows.

I hope you're right about STC > STL. Though every other store was ok until this "incident", and I've been treated like complete shit since. So, unless STC is in a different district, this little message that was sent out must be pretty severe. Whatever. I hope I'm not going to be disallowed from price-matching. Either way, I'll just try to use up my remaining credit and GTFO like they want me to.

went to target on the rock rd, they had kindle fires but not on clearance. if anyone sees any at 30% off anywhere let me know.

Tried the K-Mart on Manchester in Ellisville early this morning but got shot down. There was a clerk already back in the electronics section putting up the ad retraction notice.

Vintage Stock is having a nice Memorial Day sale this weekend. They sell used games from Atari to Xbox 360 and movies from VHS to 3D Blus. They are set up in some of the old Borders locations.

The V-Stock in St Charles has a Top-Loader NES if anyone is interested, but I don't think it's part of the sale.

I had no idea that place even existed...

For those that care, the KMart over on St. Charles Rock road is really awful. I went in last night looking for clearance. Came out smelling like 1984.

yeah thats the K-Mart I go to when I have to since its close. unfortunately they are all like that. The Target and Best Buy on the rock road are nice though

I used to go to Slackers but getting rid of almost all of their Sega games was the last straw. I knew it would go down hill when they started to only require the game when trading in. The one that opened up in Glen Carbon at one time would only accept if it was rare or had the case and manual. Now all you need is a case hell any case will do and the game. If it is a cartridge game then all you need is the cart.

I'd bite on the slackers GC but they seem to lag on getting new games in and don't sell MSP (all of this from looking on the website, at least)

So there's a flea market open on weekends at the Rock Road Metro Link station, has anyone been there before and know if it's a decent place to get games? I have this Friday off and I'm thinking about checking it out.

If its the Wellston Flea Market you are talking about I have never seen games there. just knock off purses and a million bootleg movies in theaters and other random junk or things. Starving rappers ect.

Maybe people have added games in the past year but I never saw any. The place can be crazy and even though there is usually a city cop at the door sometimes they "raid" the place. I was in there once when it got raided and we ran out the back door lol

I would imagine they had to do that to compete with mainly Gamestop, V-Stock, and to a lesser degree smaller places like Bodach's Games in Arnold.
FYI GS is closing the EB Games in South County Mall within the next two weeks and firing everyone so 1 less location.
Aren't there 2 others in that mall already (counting the one outside near the barbershop)? Sucks for the employees but I can see why they would want to close that location.

Yeah, I never understood why South County Mall had 3 Gamestops. Well, I understand why (the one in the old part of the mall was Babages, the one in the new part of the mall was EB Games and the one outside was Funcoland), I just never understood why they kept all three open for so long.

It still sucks for the employees, but it does make sense. The EB Games location didn't seem to get much traffic compared to the other one inside the mall and it was also smaller.

Have any of you guys shopped at the Maplewood Gamestop? There is a guy in there (I think he's the manager) and he is out of control. It's really close to my work, so I'd love to be able to stop there, but he makes me very uncomfortable: he's always screaming about something, he's slammed games on the counter, he's said things to other customers that make me very uncomfortable, etc.

I've probably bought from there ~4-5 times and every time I've filled out the survey (to apparently no avail) and about 2 weeks ago I called GS to see why nobody is contacting me about this. I was told I'd get called within 24 hours and that was 2 weeks ago.

Basically, I'd just like to see if anyone else has been there and knew the story of what is going on. I mentioned it to the guy that's always at the SoCo one (outside the mall) and he said he hears a lot of complaints about that store and that guy in particular from other customers. I can't tell if he was just "shooting the S" with me or if that's true.

Anyway, it sucks that a store so close to my work and that has really good stock usually is basically unshoppable.

I'm curious, but why is the store unshoppable? When I go in a place, I rarely, if ever, speak to a manager. Unless he's the only one in there, why is it an issue?

I haven't made it over to that store myself, but I'm headed near Maplehood today. I might stop in and see if I get the same treatment...
Have any of you south county guys gone to Arch City Gaming before? Is it worth my time? I'm looking for retro anything...
It might be worth just because they do carry older stuff so you never know what you'll find, but I've been in there several times and never bought anything.

A lot of times he's the only guy there and even if he isn't the one "helping" me, he's screaming about something. Just the general yelling is offensive enough, but some of the stuff he's said to other customers makes me feel REALLY uncomfortable.

Every time I've interacted with him it's been awful.

EDIT: and for what it's worth I'm not really sure why that's called the maplewood store -- I mean, I guess it must be in Maplewood, but it seems really far away from what I consider Maplewood (basically the direct vicinity of the Bottleworks). I'm referring to the store in the parking lot with WM and in the strip with Psub/sansai.

Interesting. I can understand why you wouldn't want to shop there now. I wouldn't put up with that myself...

I guess the DM's ears were burning, got a call from him this afternoon. Seemed nice enough and said he's never heard anything about this store. I find it hard to believe (since I've filled out a survey every time, plus I can't imagine nobody else has complained about him).

I think I know who you are talking about. He's a huge douche and hard to do business with. I've caught him in lies before about trade in promotions that are going on at the time and everything. Always left him awful feedback. I live in U City and GameStop opened in the Loop in January and it has the nicest workers in there, and I'm usually a complainer about how awful GameStop staff usually are.
