I recommend giving it to Strell, because once again, I wouldn't be able to use it too much. I'm leaving for work in less than a month, and I won't be back until early August or so.

That makes a lot of sense. If the exploit was really widespread, everyone's rankings would have been screwy. Wiping it again means everyone should wind up where they aught to be, rather than a plat winding up in bronze because he happened across 3 cheaters in his qualifiers.

I always pick random.

I DO notice that 5 out of the top 10 are usually protoss. Two each of the others are zerg and terran, and one guy (maybe) is random.

This is why I was feeling ambivalent about getting that beta code. I love StarCraft, but not so much the online multiplayer part of it. Yeah, I suck too. Only won one match so far out of all those that I've played (I don't know how many that is offhand; around ten maybe [ETA: Okay, my profile says I've won two 1v1 matches out of 11, which doesn't count the few that I played before everything got reset. Huh?!]).

We need a support group.

Simple solution; don't play 1v1. I always lose in 1v1 which is why I only play 2v2, 3v3 or 4v4 matches. 2v2 is my favorite, but I really like 4v4 just because the matches can get a bit crazy. Hopefully, 3v3 and 4v4 will be unlocked soon.
 
Figured out how I've been "winning" some matches. A couple people quit after doing a fair amount of damage to my base, but don't wipe it out entirely. I had one person quit this evening after eliminating just about all my units, even though I had a couple dozen buildings and pylons hanging around (and a decent amount of minerals/gas stocked up, too). Victory was mine! n00b I'm guessing.

DarkRider: Haven't dove into 2v2 yet; today was the first time I've had to really muck around with the beta and get past the placement matches. Perhaps later.

Terran is the only race I can get units out quickly with. I'm terribly slow with Toss and I really can't play Zerg. That whole queen spawning larvae thing gets to be very very annoying. I'm trying to learn how to play Toss better since they have my favorite units. I've got to say that doing a Barracks rush with Terran is fun =D. I just did it right now and totally destroyed a toss, but my teammate let the other guy build up too much and he demolished me. I was being dumb and only focused on me fighting the toss and didn't macro at all (I do this way too often!). I had to quickly build up some StarPorts and I got 4 of them done quickly. Got tech labs for them and then spammed Banshees. Completely decimated the Terran after that. His answer was to lift up his buildings so I couldn't hit them :p.
 
I managed to get into Gold for 1v1 this time.

I think I got lucky and i'll wind up being bumped down to silver eventually. I was Top 5 in bronze every time, i'm like 98 right now in gold.
 
I'm also getting worked in 1v1... I think it was a mental thing though, because I would let the opponent dictate what I was doing instead of playing aggressive. A lot of times I feel like I'm losing to bad players but I keep wanting to try something new.

2v2 seems really easy by comparison. My friend and I went 4-1 in placement matches, the 1 being some photon cannon cheese that my friend failed to spot, and I should've reacted faster by building a reaper and harassing that guy's main. But yeah, 2v2 seems easy...
 
Just picked up a beta code a couple days ago and was finally able to give it a whirl yesterday. I sucked:lol: It was fun though and I was told I held up fairly well for being my first game. It'll just have to come back to me and I think I'll start picking up some wins. I love the game so far though. It also made me realize I need to upgrade my computer lol.

I'm trying to add everyone's names into my friend list, since they don't seem to be wiping it again, and I can't add some of you.

Anyone change their names? Maybe it would be good to add em all to the main post or something..

Yes, you were MAG. We played together for like 3 games and you were on my friend's list :). Didn't know you were a CAG as well. What's your secondary name thing? So I can add you.
 
I think my new favorite zerg unit is the baneling.

It's a ground scourge..! A more expensive, less effective ground scourge...




I think I just miss scourge.
 
So, what does everyone use as their hotkeys? I usually use 5 as my main CC and then 6/7 for my next CCs. 4 is usually my barracks and 3 is usually my starport. If I get a factory, it's either 4 or 3 or 2 if I'm going, mech, air and marines/marauders. 1/2 are usually the hot keys for my army.
 
3 is every CC/Hatchery/Nexus, 4 is every other production structure that isn't a Warp Gate and the rest are units as needed. Though I tend to avoid 7-0 if at all possible since reaching across the keyboard generally screws me up.

Now that I'm thinking about it I should probably start hotkeying upgrade structures too.

I want to hotkey upgrade structures as well, but I just don't think I can remember that many. Honestly, I find it difficult to use keys 1-7 as is. I'm slowly getting better as I play more and memorizing my keys more and more so it's just a matter of time before I start using my F keys for my upgade structures.

On another note; does anyone watch their own replays? I tend to do that a lot. It helps me look at what I could have done better and what I screwed up on. I've also noticed my APM go up slight from the 30s (when I got the beta) to the 60s (which is what I'm at now). I know it's terrible, but it's an improvement :p. For the most part though, I tend to not macro enough. I usually amass a good army to push out early in the game and I tend to micro the army around a lot, but totally forget about my base and upgrades that I should be getting.
 
5 for all cc/hatch/nex. 1 for entire army. 2 for mineral line harassment. I think I need to get into the habit of hotkeying production buildings, and putting different unit types into different groups. I keep losing stuff like medvacs because of mismanagement with everything keyed to 1
 
You've got some heavy one-hotkey-syndrome, bs000. Spread those units out, man! You don't want the Zealots charging the Banelings that the Stalkers are targetting.
 
Yeah... way too many units for one hot key. At least keep your medivacs on a separate hot key. You don't want to be losing medivacs for stupid reasons such as hot keys.

And am I the only person who always gets stuck in matches with teammates who always put up static defenses and then rushes for carriers? Seriously... 2 matches in a row where my teammate defended his base while I got destroyed by a bunch of units and they didn't even send a unit to help me or counter the enemy. And even with these 2 crappy loses, I somehow made it into the 2v2 Silver league.

Edit - Wooh. Finally. Some teammates who know what they are doing =). So far, I'm liking the Silver League.

Thats why i don't like random 2v2s. I play with people i know so we can work on weaknesses and i can bitch at them if we lose :D.
My friend and I are plat in 2v2s right now, and before the most recent wipe.
 
So that SC2 map editor is going to be insane and is definitely the biggest feature in SC2. If it all stays free and as is, then this truly could be game changing.

Also when SC2 finally comes out, I hope we can do multiple SC2 CAG threads. Like a hardcore, casual/general and a who's who.
