Starcraft 2: Legacy of the Void

hotkeys:
1 - whatever i feel like at the time. starts with scout SCV, moves on to army
2 / 3 - army hotkeys
5 - all production buildings + upgrade buildings
6 - all CCs

You make all your buildings 5? What do you do? Tab through them or something? And what about when your CCs are all tied to one hot key. How do you tab over to that one specific CC you want to build an SCV at?

yes

i usually want to build scvs at all my CCs. sometimes i do tricky things like rally them both to only one CC's minerals but generally i do not single out a CC.

it's quite annoying when you have a PF and an OC in the same group because you have to tab through them to build SCVs.

If you have all your buildings with upgrades hotkeyed does it show all the upgrades on one page?

You'd have to tab between them.

I'm tempted to try something that I never have before: play with my Wacom tablet, instead of a mouse. Think I should go for it? Is there even support for tablets?

But how will you ever reach the 1570156015 APM without a mouse??!??!!??

Who cares? With my tablet skillz, I will have the most precise pointer control ever! Besides, it's not like my Wacom pen doesn't have buttons on it ;)

Bitch I will BATTLE you with my own Wacom!

When someone gives me a key, that is.

I didn't think about posting it here but has anybody else gotten a "This download is not authorized" error when they try to launch the Blizzard Downloader. I got in the beta via my pre-order from Gamestop yet I'm not in the BETA! It's killing me and I'm still waiting back from support.
Sure.

Though I must again point out that I'd barely be able to use it. But it'd be worth it because shut up, Bear.
Haha, yay! Do it do it. :bouncy:

Hmm... I might try that also. We should so have a 1v1v1 game with all of us using our tablets (for the first time). And put the replay up here.

It isn't as though people haven't offered you keys. You should just admit you don't want to play it.
Calm down BC. I'm being facetious.
Fancy words + internet forums = no.

Let us know how the tablets game works out :D. Make sure you save that damn replay.

I posted this simultaneously in different places, and it got claimed already. Sorry guys!

In absolutely unrelated news, my blog post made the front page of Teamliquid.net. Hahah.

I will not abide your aloof indifference, rapscallion!

I hate it when you and your teammate aren't on the same page plan wise. I wanted to hit the other guys quickly and he wanted to build up. We got raped by the biggest army of mechs and ships i've ever seen.

I'm playing some games if anyone is up for a few. I've had a good string of luck today.. went from 53 in silver to 3 in gold for random 2v2 today.

BattleChickn.dakkonn. Send me a message if you feel like a game or two.

I've been testing out all-around counters vs air and ground for Protoss and I've been using

8 Carriers
4 Sentry
Rest: Phoenix

I make all the phoenix's use gravity on ground units that can attack air and then they make short work of them while they're floating.

Sentries and Carriers help vs mass ground aa like marines.

With so many phoenix, I destroy pretty much any air.

i don't like losing.

@tony208:
i don't know anyone that would let you get 8 carriers and so many phoenixes.

I hear that.. I ended the day at 2v2 random like 40 or something.. The score densitiy was really, really high for gold.. of the top 20, there was a span of something like 15 or 20 points.

Kain and I played a few games yesterday, none of them ended well.

1 - whole army
2-5 army subgroups
6-7 - buildings

If I do it correctly, I press 2, right click focus fire on an enemy, repeat with 3-5, and repeat 2-5

Hate to say it but I'm already getting bored of the game, I guess I was never that big on RTS's. I suppose I'll get the game first decent sale I see (Black Friday?) and play it mostly for the campaign and custom maps.

I'm bored of the SC2 beta as well. But, I'm actually surprised it held my attention for this long. I played the regular version of Starcraft 1 (what we got now in the beta) about 3-5 times. But always found it boring. But in SC2 Ive played over 200... and that's with the constant resets and OP units.

The best thing about SC2 is the Use Map Settings games and possibly the single player this time (I didnt like SC1's single player). And those two things are going to be even better.

Also, four CAGS vs. four others is going to be a blast. So don't feel bad about being bored of it right now. It's basically playing chess 20 times a day with the same strategies.

Anyone try the new grid key layout yet? I think I'm gonna invest some time in learning it as it seems like its gonna be very useful in the long run.

How do you use the grid key layout? Is there an option in the game or something?

The best part about SC: BW (for me anyway) was the Use Map Settings games. Can't wait for the single player campaign in this game either. It's going to be great.

I feel like that the hardcounters make for very one-sided encounters and are usually contingent on the size of your army. Once the opponent's army reaches "critical mass" it's hard to even make a dent with any sort of smaller group.

Using smaller armies to run around and patrol the map and harass expansions doesn't seem to have the same effect, since taking away even 10 supply from your army can change the fight from being completely devastated to completely devastate them.

I've found a diversionary force can make all the difference. Sweep in some reapers or vikings to the enemy's money to move their main force back to counter. Take advantage of the moving units to push in with the main force or pinch something undefended.

One ball of units can be really useful, but splitting the enemy's attention with multiple small forces can be really smart.

Its in the options somewhere. Under gameplay? I'm not entirely sure but its in a dropdown menu.

So for those who don't know, grid layout has all unit hotkeys on the "qwerty, asdfg, zxcvb" section of your keyboard. The location of the button would determine which key it uses. So for example for barrack/gateway 'q' is zealot/marine, 'w' is sentry/marauder, 'e' is stalker/reaper, and 'r' is ghost.
So far some interesting uses I've found with it.
-Lift-off is v instead of l
-peon is always q regardless of race
-Immortal is e instead of i

For any RTS vet, attack is shifted from a to t, which is a pretty heavy crutch if you ask me.

lol grid layout sounds hard, the letter of the key has nothing to do with the actual name of what you're doing. Having been a protoss player in SC1, I'm actually pretty used to shifting my left hand to the right side of the keyboard (to press p for probe/pylon and the patrol command, o for observer, k for dark templar. Not to mention I would use the 9 and 0 keys for my nexus(es))

The game usually continues on two base play with an easily defended natural, so it's very hard to even use multiple small forces to even deal effective damage since distances are so short. If the enemy can take a 3rd or even a 4th, I'd understand using small strike forces but the midgame is usually well defined by then.

I've loaded up 2 dropships full of troops before, killed all the drones, but died to the counterattack because of this small numerical advantage translating into big losses.
I don't see how I get matched up against some of these guys. They're obviously in a league above me.
Plats have to play against someone.

Matchups are usually pretty good... but it makes sense that when a best match isn't available, plat level players still need to play against someone.
Anyone else still need a code?
If you could spare one, I'll take it. My friend needs to get on the beta.

I would like a code for myself if anyone can spare one or has an extra one or something.
Thanks :)
