So the bros played Garden Warfare 2 last night.  It was fun, with some modes better than others.  Overall though, it didn't feel different enough than GW1 to justify a full price purchase (at least for me).  It has more levels and characters, but just felt like more of the same.

I feel like Overwatch will get old fast. I have the same impressions of it that I did of Titanfall. It's a fantastic game but I'm not sure that I will want to keep playing it after a few weeks.

I haven't even bothered. I'm not quite sure why Blizzard even chose to make this game, but I'm sure they'll end up making a crapton of money on it. It just doesn't look remotely interesting. On the rare occasions I have the urge to play TF2, I can . . . play TF2.
That's like saying "why do other developers even bother to make military shooters when Call of Duty is around". All these companies just want money and if they think they see an opportunity to make it, they'll take it.

Seriously...I could also go for the addition of some old-school modes like FFA (Free For All) and/or a Team Deathmatch; and any other new type of game-modes they want to add too.
The problem with those types of modes being added is that the game is not balanced around characters fighting 1v1, and a lot of the characters work in a rock/paper/scissors manner. You'd wind up with half or more of the characters not being worth using at all in deathmatch.

I share the sentiment of boredom with Overwatch, but I'm a bad judge since I've burned myself out on it after playing 50+ hours since October.

Lost track of time last night and sadly missed Garden warfare with you guys. Hopefully it goes on sale cheap to do it again sometime.

No? Like, not at all? I guess any game with "hero" characters is going to come across as one, but no, it's straight-up TF2 style multiplayer. It's not even a hybrid like Monday Night Combat or Battleborn.

I'm absolutely shit at it, but that trademark Blizzard polish is there so it's hard not to like. The fact that it's not f2p is also encouraging, but sadly in today's landscape that's no longer an indication there won't be micro-transactions out the wazoo.
Looks like more Overwatch content's coming in the Summer:

http://twinfinite.net/2016/05/overwatchs-beta-content-is-all-from-the-final-game/

When asked by a fan about the differences between the beta and the full game, Kaplan said that “the version you are playing now is what will go live at launch (there will be some bug fixes etc…).”

Further, he said that the studio is also working on “a TON of post-launch features and content. It’s going to be a pretty amazing summer…”

Agreed 100%.

Going to be interesting to see what Overwatch gets for content this Summer.

Still, I miss the old days of gaming when these MP-competitive games had SDK's. It felt like we never had a shortage in mods for game-modes and maps, back in those days of Quake 2+3, UT, etc - as modders just kept popping them off. These days now - eh, seems like we have more MP-games like Titanfall and Overwatch that...need MORE content.

Sounds like I should catch it in a Origin Humble Bundle some day.

Playing Max Payne 3...the game has two problems...1 is that there are 1218397124873643949171987 cutscenes, 2 is that although bullet time/shoot dodge are in the game, if you play it like you play MP 1/2 you'll get torn to shreds. You need to utilize cover all the time, shoot dodge is essentially useless if you're not careful to end your dodge into a cover area, if your dodge ends in open space chances are you'll die as you have very little health. It's not a bad game but Mp 1/2 are better.

I tried a little Doom 3 last night just 'cause I thought some idle shootin' would be a good way to pass some time.  Wow, that is one shitty game.  I wouldn't have thought you could screw up the Doom formula but they certainly managed to do just that,

So.

Moved some furniture. Wasn't going to disconnect modem but I did. Now it won't go Online and Time Warner said its either the modem (and of course I have my own so they can't check it) or coaxial. What blows my mind is that I literally disconnected it for 5min....

Love spending $100 on a modem that MIGHT work

This same thing can be applied to 1v1 fighting tournaments, and it's the reason why I dislike playing in them. I enter often, but there's always someone who changes their character or waits for you to choose before they choose, so they can pick someone balanced against your character in every way. Assholes who aren't confident enough with a character start to do this, and they ruin the tournament for everyone else. Keep the fucking character you picked instead of switching. Once you switch, then it's only fair if I switch, then the cycle continues and nothing gets done. "Random, forfeit if you switch" is the only way to do these rock-paper-scissors 1v1 games.

I have a free upgrade to windows 10 from 7. Do you guys recommend it or should i just stay with 7?
I would upgrade. You are going to have more and more games that are W10 only. There are some things to not like in W10 vs 7. Basically MS tracking what you do way more than they used to. That said, performance is good and it is quite user friendly.

Also DX12 is Win10+ only and so you're going to wind up wanting to switch sooner or later so might as well do it while it's free (that said, I haven't switched yet and probably won't until the last moment).

I have Win10 and so far haven't had any issues with it. As of now I haven't had any compatibility issues in terms of games that worked on windows 8 but don't on Win10

I would. I like 10 way better than 7 or 8 personally.

I think we can do PvZ GW1. I believe everyone has that game by now.
We did 1 a few weeks back and only Bah and I showed up. I don't think as many people have it.

You can turn most of that stuff off though, so it's not as big a concern as people initially thought.

Humble Monthly game thoughts so far:

Galak-Z: Took 11 hours to drop all $0.06 cards. 0/10 would not idle again.

Also, I really need to finish Hearts of Stone for TW3 before Blood and Wine comes out.

All of these games are taking forever to drop cards for some reason. I've been on Rage Parking Simulator 2016 for 9.1 hours and have 2 card drops remaining. I bet Valve screwed up the algorithm again.

Doom 3 isn't really a classic-style Doom game, IMHO. Doom 3 is more like a horror-game with action here + there, all set within the Doom universe. While it's good IMHO, it just isn't that classic-style Doom (i.e. Doom 1+2+Final Doom) loaded w/ that neck-breaking paced non-stop action where you're shooting through demons like there's no tomorrow.

Hopefully, Doom 2016 in the SP campaign delivers more of that classic Doom style of gameplay. The GTX 1080 video with it running at 1080p set at Ultra when they ran it uncapped up to 200FPS using Vulkan API looked pretty damn impressive, IMHO.

I'll probably switch my main gaming desktop at the last moment, just like yourself.

I have W10 on my gaming laptop - and yeah, I really like it. Major improvement over W8. Probably really going to need it for any DX12-required games and maybe Vulkan, at some point.

Hell, I still need to get back into TW3 base-game...

EDIT 2:

Y so MANI negative nancies dissing OVAHWATCH?!?!?! It's 2016 SJW fest! Bunch o' h8rs!
B/c it lacks CONTENT. Not much game-modes.

It's a lot of fun, but not $60 MSRP worth of fun - i.e. Titanfall all over again.

I haven't played Evolve yet - but probably Evolve also belongs on that list too.

I do like how in Overwatch I don't actually have to win to get stuff. I mean yeah you get more xp for winning but there is no daily win quests or anything. Other than that though, it's lacking in content. I mean yeah it has 21 characters, but TF2 has a load of custom maps and is free.

Overwatch will last though and will probably be hugely popular. Simply because of fuck ing rabid Blizzard Fanboys. I myself will probably be playing it off and on because it;s fun for a quick hour of killing.

Also I really wish people learned how to play Battleborn. Been having horrible losses lately because the team I get matched with doesn't understand how to Battleborn and we lose horribly.

Yep, I think that's one of the smart things Valve has always done (with Half-Life series, TF series, Left 4 Dead series) - support the SDK + mod community and let them go wild w/ content to keep players playing. I miss that old-school mentality, as now every damn MP-game seems to only have Official DLC + Season Passes...

I wish people would just ignore multiplayer  games entirely until release. Whens the last time a multiplayer game lived up to any hype? Evolve was dissapointing, ditto battlefront, titanfall fizzled out quickly...it seems like these multiplayer only shooters are a fad for no apparent reason as none of the games were entirely well received or were extremely short lived. Oddly enough the only one I can remember that lived up to hype and didn't have its player base evaporate in two weeks is Splatoon

Splatoon was a unique game. Titalfall, Battlefront, Evolve and others feel like the same I played it before. Splatoon felt fresh, and was something unique.

Re: Battleborn.  Somewhat appealing but nothing I'd go over $10-15.  From what I've seen on the Steam forums, the community is fairly atrocious, too.

Must admit I am buying Overwatch based on Blizzard rep alone. Other than Heroes of the Storm they haven't done anything I didn't enjoy. Playing the beta was entertaining but if it wasn't a Blizzard game I wouldn't buy it on launch.

The steam forum communities in general are atrocious. Most people actually playing Battleborn don't even talk though from what I've seen.

I didn't play a whole lot of tf2 at release, but I'm pretty sure it didn't have more than a few game modes and 8 or so maps. Valve is obviously more open to modding and tf2 now has a bunch of content, but comparing the 2 on content alone isn't really fair. The real question should be how does overwatch play and is there enough of a hook there to keep you around for more content down the road?

Plays well, but needs more content.

Might be best off waiting for Complete Edition later; or catching base-game + Season Passes cheap later.

I disagree. You're not competing against TF2 from 2008, you're competing against games as they're on the market today.

I have zero opinion on Overwatch. I haven't played TF2 in ages so didn't have any interest in someone else's knock-off, but the same argument would come up when discussing MMORPGs or other products: "Oh, but they didn't have all that content when they launched!" -- Yeah, well, go in your time machine back five years ago if you want that to be relevant.

Congratulations on naming all of the multiplier games.

It's not fair to expect an mmo or a multi-player shooter to have the same amount of content as one that's been out in the wild for years upon years. The comparison between the games should be made on gameplay, mechanics and, to some extent, graphics.

Content for you dollar is a very legitimate comparison. Yeah, it makes it harder for late entries but... oh well?

I don't compare games to make sure no one's feelings get hurt, I compare them to decide which is the better game and content is a big part of that. If you fall way behind on content, the rest of your game better be stellar in ways the content-heavy games can't match.

It's terrible across the board. No matter what system your on, the community is bad. I am on a 9 game losing stream because of bad teams and not one of those games has been close. It's been our team gets destroyed. Hell I had a healer character running with me with a heal beam that is unlimited ammo and no cooldown yet he would not heal me to full health when running to a point in no combat.

I'll play devil's advocate on this. If humble makes a price mistake and sells 8 bajillion copies then they should still owe the dev whatever the original agreed upon terms were. I would do the same thing if this is the case.
