This thread will attempt to provide a place to discuss past/present/future PC gaming deals. While mainly focusing on Steam games, any standout sales may also be presented. I will not be updating every Daily/Weekly/etc. sale. The tools to help individuals become a smarter shopper will be provided below.

See this POST for links to store sale pages, threads of interest and other tools to help you become a more informed PC game shopper.

Only missing GTA V, Bully, Manhunt & Max Payne 3 DLC from Rockstar.

Amazon should bundle those for $5. Steam-codes. (or maybe Tony should create his own bundle site...)

About Grand Theft Auto IV: Complete Edition, doesn't show any entrance on steamdb. Either clicking from the storepage through enhanced steam.

I don't know what is going on with that lock.

Son of a... I finally decide to buy Valkyria Chronicles on Gamersgate and the site goes down while it's doing that stupid cooldown period before giving me my key. Shit ass site.

It's back up. Ashot must just hate you. It's the only plausible explanation.
The site may be "up" but a lot of the page just shows blank space and it allows me to sign in but not look at my games.

Keep getting this.

So, instead of fleabaying my spare parts, I've decided to convert my HTPC into a controller friendly gaming HTPC. I know some of you are rocking a G3258, I was wondering what your experiences are with it. I'll probably throw in my 7870, so the CPU will bottleneck first, but I won't be playing anything too taxing. Maybe some Dark Souls or some racers, anything that I'd prefer using a controller/wheel with.
I'm rocking a G3258 at 4.3GHz at the moment and it easily handles everything I want to throw at it. Bear in mind that the chief argument against it is "Yeah, but you won't be able to play any new titles as they all need multiple cores!", to which I would answer, which self-respecting CAG plays games that haven't been cheap yet anyways?

It took me a while to find a stable overclock, and eventually knocked it down from 4.4GHz to 4.3GHz to give a bit of safety (I didn't see what that extra 0.1GHz would achieve). I could probably go further but I didn't want to risk frying the chip - people have been running them pretty hard to get 4.6Ghz and upwards.

Also, it seems like the best chips (it's a bit of a lottery) were probably issued early on. Mine was made in October and is statistically average. I follow a thread on Overclock.net and the 4.7/4.8 overclocks are getting very rare.

For the price, it's amazing value, and it'll last me a good year or two. I'll jump on Broadwell-K when I have the money, but for now this is a wonderful little substitute. You don't even need an aftermarket cooler to be honest, the stock cooler is more than enough to get you to 4.4GHz.

PM me if you want more details. If you need a motherboard as well, I hear Microcenter do some pretty amazing bundles.

Edit: the heaviest games I've thrown at it are Far Cry 3 and Borderlands 2. It wasn't CPU bottlenecked on either, although BL2 didn't like me for some reason (I have an AMD card).

As a former Microcenter employee, they do have fantastic motherboard deals/bundles/rebates. February is Build-Your-Own-PC Month, so I think there are a bunch going on right now.

Man, I miss that employee discount...

Alright finally got my key. Just had to jam on refresh like 40 times. Stupid site.

I'm rocking a G3258...
Last summer/fall I redid my primary rig, HTPC and server as they were all running first gen core i-series parts, so I went on a bit of a Microcenter extravaganza. At least now they're all running 1150 sockets. The HTPC is fitted with a Asus Z87M-Plus and Scythe Big Shuriken cooler with a fan upgrade. It was meant for cool quiet running, I doubt I'll push the G3258 beyond 4.0GHz (if I OC at all) as I still want it quiet and it's in a tight mATX HTPC case. Though NewEgg has a Fractal Design Cube Case and Microcenter has the HAF XB, both on sale right now and I could move my EVO 212 into one of those... Hmmmmmm.

the gamersgate price on ghost recon future soldier is the historical low, it is the only ghost recon I do not have on steam.

I'm just not sure I want to support gamersgate after what it did to this thread yesterday....
GG is hammered and you didn't say the price... but you're wrong.

I picked up Ghost Recon Future Soldier Deluxe Edition for $2.70 on 27 Dec 2012 (when it was very new). They they forcibly refunded me, but still gave me my key (and download). So, you could have had it for $0.00. Beat that!

Also it's a Uplay key.

I'm terrible at joining groups. I'll press a "Vote Yes" button for games I like but I never join the groups and don't get my keys.

Reload looks like it'd be fun for a few minutes but I suppose that, for a $5 game, I can wait the six weeks before it's bundled.
I sent you an invite.

isn't that Pentium a 'waste' if you don't overclock the snot out of it?
Considering I got it for <$50 and it was in an HTPC, no. I'm not planing on throwing CPU heavy games at it like Skyrim, so I hope to get by with minimal/nil OC assuming I keep it in it's current case. I'll probably throw my 4690K in there once it gets updated later this/early next year.

Fun fact: The bundle with those three games has been on sale since DECEMBER. I guess Brazil hates Batman?

ITAD doesnt show the special price you got, sorry I was unaware of it
^_^ No worries. You can't trust price trackers entirely... they miss anything that was a coupon deal, in a Tony-bundle, or sometimes just plain miss stuff. You're better off saying "according to ITAD" if you haven't searched slickdiapers and reddit for past deals.

It shines at 4.2GHz and upwards. The thing is, it's also pretty easy to achieve.

The chips don't run too hot. You're not thermally constrained, you're voltage-constrained. Its performance when overclocked is up there with some of the better i3s.

It's a remarkable CPU.

Oh Peasants....

Free Shadows of Mordor plus $1 GameStop Credit

So this will probably seem not at all worth it to a lot of folks but today I used my Gamers Club Unlocked (after a re-up) at Best Buy and purchased 3 copies of Shadow of Mordor B2G1 and a new copy of Shadow of Mordor with a $5 off any game over $29.99 coupon for $74.59 ((27.99-10%) + (27.99 - 10%) + 0 + ((29.99 - $5) - 20%) + 6% PA Sales tax). I took 3 copies of the game to GameStop to trade in for $19.80 each plus a 30% extra trade in credit coupon to get a total of $75.60 is store credit. So I got a free copy of Shadow of Mordor and made $1.01 .... Sorry if It's too much info but it's my first post.

So the peasants equate real money with gamestop money? That must suck
Except now he can use that credit to buy Steam keys from the stores site. I don't see much of a problem. He got a console version of that game and can now also buy other games for his steam account, Of course I would also trade in the extra copy he kept. Then I could hold onto the credit and buy the pc version on sale and have a ton of credit left to add other crap to my steam account.

So I can buy these 3 games and activate them through steam in the U.S.?

Alternatively, in the thirty minutes to an hour it took to jump those hoops, I could have just stayed at work that same amount of time, earned overtime and had enough to buy the game and dinner and not have to worry about store credit as a form of currency. But, to each their own.
