Can't wait until NewEgg puts this promo-code at 99 cents next year:

http://www.geforce.com/GetRiseOfTheTombRaider
Good news. These will be cheap. Not 99c cheap, but $20 or so is good enough for me to get the game. It also means that the game will be discounted on regular sale regardless even sooner. That was pretty much a virtual guarantee with Squeenix, but now even more so with this happening.

I loved Babbage's and Software Etc. but the nearest to me when growing up was Electronics Boutique.  I'm still sad I threw away some old christmas catalogs from there.

I called EBGames Electronics Boutique until Gamestop dropped the EBGames branding.

I have fond memories of picking up my Voodoo 5 5500 from there back when it came out.

EDIT:

Found this Software Etc christmas catalog from 1994. :D

I remember when the tiny mall locations had walls of PC games.  First ever purchase from them was Baldur's Gate 2 which may have been the first PC game I ever bought for myself too.

The good old days, yep.

And then FuncoLand came into town...

Oh and it was also my first lesson in editions full of useless extras. Totally bought it because the box was bigger and more impressive and the stuff sounded good at the time but I remember most of it being pretty meh other than the map.

For me it was Wolfenstein 3D from those same racks.

I also bought a football game that I cant for the life of me remember the name of, but it was awesome at the time. Could design your teams and name all the players which was a big deal in 1993 as far as I remember. I made my HS team in the game and all the local schools.

I bought a retail PC game once. Unreal Tournament. Took a selfie with it (back when cameras were cameras and phones were phones) and sent it to my French online girlfriend who was besties with an ugly girl who went to my school who pretended to be a hot girl whose lies were revealed when I called her on my Nokia 5110 and her phone rang during art class. The ugly girl made up a lot of stuff about me and tried to get Eminem-looking kids to fight me, and my French gf stopped coming online. She was real, we had webcam dates over 56k modems.

Lesson: Don't take selfies with retail PC games or you lose your online girlfriends/friends in general. MYSTERD

You lie because selfies weren't even invented until 2007.

Electronics Botique... I can't remember my first actual games.. they were in a stash of porno floppies where the girls were ASCII... but I remember Wolf 3D.  Then I spent all my money on Xwing and all those 3.5's.  I think right around then was Rise of the Triad as well.  Privateer.. man.. so many old memories.  Then Electronics Botique became EBGames... and shelves shrank.  I bought the 6 disc collectors ed of Baldur's Gate... man...

Now... I have more games than that on my phone :p

P.S.  Funny enough.. I still have all those games.  :)  And their disks.  But alas, not their boxes.  Didn't put THAT much thought into the collection.

We played Life is Feudal and as expected it sucked.  Like if you missed the event because you didn't have it then consider yourself lucky.  The reality of being a CAG is most of us refuse to pay a lot for a good survival game (ARK) so we spend 100s of dollars on bundles with bad survival games and play those instead.  I wouldn't have it any other way.

The bros joined some server called old geezers.  We spawned on an island that was shaped like triple lion heads.  We all spent a long time trying to convene in one spot.  Four of us got there and proceeded to chase and punch a deer for 30 minutes until it ran away.  Then we split up and I made a campfire and sleeping bag near a lake and called it quits.

11/10 would play again instead of reminisce about how I used to buy clearance PC games at KB Toys.  Coaches Club Football FTW!

No, it was that boring.  I mean, it might also not be your kind of game but there was zero risk of conflict when the only other living thing was a single deer.  It was just a grass and stick gathering simulator.

I joined in late, but I got a taste of it. It really suffers from the convoluted control scheme. It took me 5 minutes to figure out how to use the mouse to look (accidentally hit TAB when I spawned). It tries to do a lot, but it's really a fairly dull world. I mean, it looks okay, but it's empty. I WISH I'd seen a deer to punch.

The rest of the time I was playing I gathered sticks and tried to figure out how to find iron. I saw one other person. Life is Feudull.

i actually planned to attend the brofest as i actually have that game. but im running on less than 5 hrs sleep in the last 2 days and crashed, I probably would have fallen asleep and you guys could hear me snore on discord.

In KB toys memories, used to scope the clearance table for atari 2600 and intellivision carts after the first game crash. picked up stuff for like a buck.

I think he might be kidding with MysterD. The Tomb Raider promotion was just launched earlier today, or earlier the 7th rather after the Dirt keys were dried up. The codes are listed for $59.99 on Newegg, but that obviously could just be a corrected version.

At any rate, I was up last night during the Dirt Rally umm rally, and never saw Tomb Raider mentioned on any of the sites that Dirt Rally was, so if it did happen very few got in on it i.e. it wasnt on SlickDeals or Reddit.
It was posted on Neogaf after the glitch ended.

I remember when I bought BG2 PC + strategy guide that were bundled together for $20 used at an EB in Florida, a long time ago. Probably the last time I saw any stores selling used PC games, as well. They were marked used, but it was pretty much like freaking new - no marks on the discs; and only a few folds in the strategy guide. Great game.

Ahhh, good old KB Toys. I picked up ToEE (PC) for like $10 there when they were going out of business in my town.

They never had the biggest PC games section, though.

Got countless console games from there over the years, as well.

I remember long ago, when my KB Toys before that was a Toy Works - got some classic Genesis games there, in the old days.

Will you lot shut up about your #PizzaPrivelege again? You're oppressing me.

At least I have curry. Lots of curry.

:whee:
Don't you guys have wing roulette and like peri peri chicken or something? Forum I was on with a bunch of Brits never seemed to shut up about Nando's when the topic of fast food came up.

Seriously would love to do a wing roulette sometime, would have to get friends first but after that it seems it'd be pretty fun.

Oh god Nando's. Used as a punchline for twats everywhere. Never eaten there on principle as I don't want to be surrounded by teens comparing shit tattoos, hair product and which member of 1D they're definitely not modelling their wardrobe on. fuck off back to your H&M sale section and get some proper fucking jeans that actually allow for blood circulation. Not everything is the best thing ever nor is it "cheeky" and every person you meet is not a fucking legend. You are the living embodiment of a click-bait link.

You may have inadvertently touched a nerve here.

Or I'm just getting really old.

:whee:

P.s. I think I might Instagram this post to give it a more authentic feel.

You know you wish you were picked for Geordie Shore.

Are people really that excited to get a Dirt game? What weird reality did I land in this time?
Some of it is undoubtedly the deal in question... A 60 dollar game for a buck, or a handful of bucks, is well something to get excited about...

That said... Its the best Dirt game since the "original" dirt.... (The series use to be Colin McRae: Rally, then Colin McRae: Dirt, and then just Dirt) and its just got an amazing feel to it. I've only done the first event, all four stages, but there are some drop offs that will make your butt pucker as you speed by them (or just try valiantly to navigate them.) which is amazing considering its just a video game.

Anyhow, allot of fun if this type of racing is enjoyable to you... (Not being able to see your competition, racing against a clock, etc.)

Anyhow, so far so good on my steam key... *crosses fingers/knocks on wood* Hopefully, AMD will be cool with any code already activated and won't get steam involved. (Considering the codes were expired and then turned back on I think/hope AMD had a number of keys they had basically paid for... and was wanting to sale them for money... Even if it was only the better part of a dollar with newegg getting some scraps also.)

Does anyone have experience with the Alienware TactX keyboard? Woot has it for $39.99 and wondering if anyone would recommend it at that price?
Its membrane so I wouldn't get it... I'm a mechanical or GTFO guy myself but at that price and if that doesn't offend you I think you would have to stop and consider it.

Is it mechanical? No? Then it unworthy of your hooves.
Of course mechanical would be better and if any of you guys want to find me a good mechanical keyboard for $40 I'd be a happy camper. The budget mechs start in the 60s and 70s usually so you are going into twice the price territory. I've yet to use a mech due to price so it not being mechanical isn't a deal breaker. Just wondering if it is worth it for the price.

Negative; more worth it to save up until you can afford a mechanical. They are 100% worth the investment.

I know this is parroted a lot but that's because it's the truth.

A good mech will make you wince next time you even think about buying a membrane keyboard. It's a hard feeling to explain so I'll put it in words you understand:

It's like going back to shitty open world survival games once you've played ARK. Sure there's some novelty and cheap laughs to be had at how terrible it is, but deep down you know it's secretly just awful and you've played better.

Just don't buy the next five awful games that come your way and instead use that money to get a decent mechanical keyboard.

Disclaimer: I tried to make an analogy that ended with "just like your mom" but it turned out to be a frustrating and best-forgotten exercise.
Just like your mom.

Should have bought the Logitech G710 that was $50 a couple times at BBY over the holidays. :shame:
