Did anyone else sign up for Gamepump? https://www.gamepump.com/ - Today is supposed to be the day that we receive our first game and so far I haven't heard anything at all. I never even received a confirmation e-mail when I bought this back in November. Just curious if anyone else has received anything from them.

See, not having time to play video games pays off. Now I own Project Cars, I probably won't play it, but I now I own it.

pretty happy w/the reveals today. i almost bought jotun and neon chrome out of desperation due to the lackluster sale, glad i didn't now. Kind of in shock xcom 2 is the headliner next month...it was 30 in the steam sale, to get that plus 5-6 other games for 12 bucks is a steal.

Nah. 1995 Best Picture when Forest Gump won over Pulp Fiction and The Shawshank Redemption was easily as bad.
There's tons of these. Shakespeare in Love beating out Saving Private Ryan in 1999 was also pretty bad, but I've got to say the absolute worst I can think of was in 2006 when Crash beat out Brokeback Mountain, Munich, Capote and Good Night, Good Luck. That joke of a movie beating out those heavyweights was just awful. LOL

Crash was pretty bad, but the one that stuck with me was Braveheart winning. I know I'm in the minority for hating Braveheart, but 95 was one of the best years of film ever, so the Academy has been a joke to me ever since.

Eh. Braveheart beat Apollo 13, Babe, Il Postino, and Sense and Sensibility, I'd argue that it was a perfectly fine choice that particular year. The real crime in 96 was Usual Suspects not getting nominated. It was the 96 Oscars that Braveheart won.

95 Awards were for films in 1994 i.e. Pulp Fiction, Shawshank, thats the year Gump won. That's very much regarded as a whoa year. 96 wasn't even close.

Heat, Casino, Crimson Tide, Friday, Seven, Toy Story, it was a good year for films

I think he's also referring to the fact that a good number of amazing movies got left out of Best Picture, including The Usual Suspects, Dead Man Walking, Leaving Las Vegas, Mr. Holland's Opus, etc.

But yeah, with what they did nominate Braveheart was easily the best of the bunch IMO.

Eh Leaving Las Vegas is fucking garbage. Nicolas Cage was good at playing a guy drinking himself to death and rightfully won, but that movie is disgusting and wasn't worthy of the ultimate prize. I'd argue that only Usual Suspects and Dead Man Walking to a lesser extent were deserving of a nomination. I can also see the argument for Seven and espc Fincher getting snubbed.

From the GAMPUMP_com twitter:

We apologize for the delay! An update is coming shortly regarding the first month's release for GamePump subscribers.

The next question for MysterD and others;

what is your favorite vampire movie and TV show

i.e. Bram Stoker's Dracula with Gary Oldman

Ture Blood

The Lost Boys or the original 79 Salem's Lot. I also rank the 85 Fright Night very highly.

I don't think there's been any really good vampire TV shows, when I was kid Id watch Dark Shadows reruns with my mom, so prob that. True Blood wasn't very interesting beyond the first two seasons. Buffy was a bit silly and too Dawson's Creek/90210 with vampires, but I understand the allure of those shows. The Strain is pretty fucking good, but its not really vampire lore. The books are more vampy.

Hmmmmm....hard to say. Let me think on this.

I'll throw out some thoughts, for now...

True Blood was one of those shows where episodes and/or seasons were either great or horrible. Flip a coin.

True Blood was inconsistent.

Interview With The Vampire (movie) was really good.

Let The Right One In (Swedish version) was excellent. Never saw the US version.

For action-based vampire movies, Blade 1+2 & the Underworld series were good.

For more comedic vampire stuff, I dug Shadow of the Vampire and What We Do In The Shadows.

EDIT:

The Twilight Saga, baby :D/
Ugh, that series sucked.

Hmm. I'd have go with:

TV: Buffy the Vampire Slayer

(because of late 90s Sarah Michelle Gellar)

Movie: Van Helsing/Underworld

(because of Kate Beckinsale)

I think I have my priorities in order. Mmmhmm.

Edit: Oh yeah, What We Do In The Shadows is great. Also, Blade. I wasn't much into the 80s / early 90s Vampire stuff really.

I got a Wii for Christmas so I can play Lit the way it was originally meant!
If I recall correctly, the speakers on the Wiimote emit whatever your character hears over the phone, so you can hold it up to your ear for additional immersion / to make yourself look silly. No More Heroes did the same thing before ranked assassin fights.

The old site hasn't been taken down and it looks as though you can still download the soundtrack for free from the bottom of the side menu should that the sort of thing anyone would be interested in checking out: http://micro.wayforward.com/LIT/

Speaking of vampires, a new trailer for Vampyr was released a couple of weeks ago. Don't think I've seen it posted here.

That looked great at E3 2016. One of my favorites there.

I really like DontNod, as a company/developer. They seem to do some solid stuff at the very least, IMHO - i.e. Life Is Strange & Remember Me.

EDIT:

If anyone missed Vampyr gameplay demo on IGN from E3 2016, go check out 15 minutes worth of it:

Dude, remember Kindred: the Embraced? It was an Aaron Spelling adaptation of the World of Darkness game world and it was fucking awful. I tried watching it again a few months ago in a "Hey, I remember that show existed..." way and couldn't make it through a single episode.

I had to look it up. I vaguely remember its existence, never saw an episode.
