I've never payed attention to grammar. If I can understand what someone is trying to say then I'm good. Only time I would even think of saying something is like at work or something if I thought it might help someone to correct it. Pet peeves are just stupid. Maybe your spouse or family puts up with that crap but the rest of the world doesn't owe you anything.
Sounds like a pet peeve of yours.

People can make whatever errors they want.

I wasn't rude about it, at least I don't think so.

Look, I'm far from the flag bearer of civility. I revel in the opportunity to rage and snark at a lot of things.

DD83 wasn't necessarily rude in his wording, but pet peeves are inherently self-centered and mentioning them is inherently rude. Even he admitted that he understood what was being said and he understood that English wasn't Ochentay's first language. The act of expressing a pet peeve is a selfish one. It serves no purpose other than to express one's own neurosis. Get over it/yourself.

And I'm not free of pet peeves, I just limit them to those around me who love me enough to actually care/put up with irrational annoyances.

I mentioned it being a pet peeve as a way to say "I don't point out grammar mistakes 99.99% of the time because they don't bother me, this is the only one that strikes a nerve."

I probably wouldn't have even mentioned if Ochentay was a native English speaker, since someone that natively speaks the language and makes the mistake probably has no interest in being correct. I assumed he had some interest in correctness because he learned the language. He might even still be learning it in a college course. I could've saved him a point or two on a test/essay. I know if I was learning another language and kept mixing up homophones I'd want someone to correct me.

I have no horse in this race, I just like the hypocrisy of pointing something out as self centered and rude by being self centered and rude in turn. If correcting someone on an incorrect word they used is 'selfish and rude' then I can only imagine telling someone to shut up because the world doesn't owe you anything is only more so.

Your mom is my pet peeve, only it's spelled pee've since I R. Kelly all over her whenever she comes over. And she likes it!

Think I'm gonna pre-order John Wick Hex from epic store. How is WWZ? Wanted to get it for Xbox One but $20 is a pretty solid deal for it
Z is shallow and super repetitive. Main story missions or whatever you want to call them are terrible.

Not worth it.

You’ll have to also buy an expansion later

I never tried to claim I wasn't being selfish or rude. In fact, I'm well aware my response was snarky and rude. That was sort of the point.

Just be honest, you pointed it out because it was a pet peeve. It's a selfish thing to do. You can rationalize that there's a positive out of it and that's fine and I'm sure Ochentay didn't take offense but it doesn't stop it from being a selfish thing to do.

Back it up, slowly.

Is not the mere offering of any opinion that wasnt specifically asked for 'selfish' in that context?  So most post are selfish.

Except mine of course. I'm arrogant so I simply believe that everyone *needs* to hear (read) my opinions. I'm not being selfish, I'm bein altruistic. (But also very *VERY* arrogant ;))

No. Some people request opinions. Other opinions are altruistic. "this game sucks, don't waste your money" etc. So your wrong. And I donut really care one way or the other. This place is mostly dead. You guys just regurgitate the same topics every few weeks. I donut now why you guys have'ent moved on to greener pastures. I donut no if you guys are self aware that youv become a joke or genuinely enjoy the redundancy. I'm snarky and mean for selfish purposes. I find it entertaining.

Has anyone made a Steam extension yet that automatically does the "Add a non-steam game to library" for all your titles on Epic, Twitch etc? I imagine such an extension could also automatically add "-EpicPortal" to launch options, even add shortcuts to installers for games you have on those other platforms that are not installed on your machine etc.

That all would be nice, but so far...nope.

I think someone posted a super launcher to keep track of everything once. It maybe that was an April Fool's prank. U don't recall.
Probably was PlayNite, I'd guess.

I finished Wildlands AND I killed The Predator.  Killing The Predator was a much bigger accomplishment than anything else in the game though I did have fun playing it and murdering Bolivians.

I don't think I ever said I'm not selfish. But if I did, I don't care and don't point it out to me. :)

I think this was the first time I've ever mentioned it to someone online outside of anonymous forums.

Finally got a decent trade for WWZ.  Played the first mission.  Miles better than Overkill's TWD.  Definitely the spiritual successor to L4D.  I traded some old monthly games I never redeemed (Overwatch and Cities: Skyline) for a key.  Happy with my trade.

This isn't Epic's fault. Some devs weren't happy with the final price of their games after the Epic discount so they pulled their games or upped the price. This is like when shady sellers raise their prices when there's an eBay coupon. If you want to be mad at someone be mad at the greedy devs.
Can't I hate both?

Have the Witcher keys on Humble always been GOG only? Am I going crazy?
I don't think CDPR games on 3rd party sites (like Amazon, Humble, etc) were ever keys for Steam.

I think they were normally always keys for GOG (once GOG existed).

If you bought CDPR's games at retail, the CD keys always activated-up on GOG (once GOG was up - that's how I got Witcher 1 from retail to GOG).

I think to buy CDPR's games from Steam, you always had to buy them directly through Steam.

EDIT:

Come to think of it, I don't recall back in the Amazon DVG days, if Tony pulled strings to get Steam-versions of their games (i.e. Witcher games). Anyone remember?

I dunno how he pulled that off w/ UbiSoft and other companies (i.e. I recall he had Steam-versions of some AC titles), but I guess, he had clout and Amazon behind him...so he could.

Hopefully some more launcher trackers w/better features come out and down the line somebody will make a launcher to track your launcher trackers
I wish PlayNite had time-tracking.

Though, of course, one could always use GamePlay Time Tracker for Non-Steam games that don't have time-tracking built in.

GamePlay Time Tracker - https://www.gameplay-time-tracker.info/en/default.aspx

This has been working well w/ TWD: A New Frontier (Epic Game Store version).

I was hoping that the pressure from Epic would entice Steam into an actual decent Summer Sale this year, but it seems a number of video game makers aren't interested in playing ball.

I mean, Jesus... Epic was throwing free money at the consumer to buy games and a handful of publishers/developers wanted no part of it. Even at no loss to them they didn't want to see their game sell at an arbitrary price that they didn't like.

These are dark times for sale-junkies, people.

I think the biggest issues were that it was possible dev's/publishers weren't aware this sale was coming; and that the reduced price was actually showing up on ITAD and other sites like it b/c the discount was showing before it hit check-out so ITAD could record that before-cart price.

I mean, would you buy Heavy Rain if you checked ITAD elsewhere at a higher price, when it showed as its low was $10?

EDIT:

I would've bought Hades at $7, if I ordered it in time. It changed before I got around to it. Oh well.

And I know, I ain't buying Hades likely until it hits $7 again or less.

"Epic is pro-consumer!"

(Promotes exclusivity.)

"Epic is pro-developer/publisher"

(Developers/publishers pull their games from the store during sales).

TLDR: Epic is a blight on gaming.

The devs on EGS are just as bad if not worse than the store itself if they are pulling their games when things don't go their way. There are no principles at play. I'd respect them more if they released statements like "We sell on EGS because it's more profitable". I don't blame anyone for wanting to make more money. Instead it's bs corporate-speak; they don't actually stand for anything. Disingenuous press releases make people lose respect for you.

They only stand for one thing: wanting & making more money.

EDIT:

Yup, I bought games from the Epic Games Store. Yep, I like cheap games and have tough times resisting good sales. And yep, most of those are currently exclusive to the Epic Game Store.

I don't like Epic that much and Microsoft w/ their game-store & service (or lack thereof) - but for certain games (especially exclusives) and/or certain deals, I'm gonna have to go there. [shrug]

And yep, at one-time, before Steam became feature-rich and felt like it mostly a DRM-laced service - yep, wasn't fond of Steam too. Yet, I still bought Steam-required games like HL2 & Dark Messiah, back then. And yet, here I am, some 2000+ Steam-games later.

Just finished-up TWD: A New Frontier from Epic Store. Took around 8 hours total, according to GamePlay Time Tracker. Yeah, it was good and more action-y than the last bunch of TellTale "adventures" - but it still ain't as great as TWD: S1 & S2; and also especially The Wolf Among Us.

I don't think those who aren't TellTale fans, those tired of TellTale's formula, and/or those who are looking for TellTale to have changed their style much (before they folded) will be converted b/c of this game though. It's more of the same.

Tony Clifton, everybody! Let's give him a round of applause! Enjoy the buffet, he'll be here all week!

GoT finale time. Let's go ahead and get this over with. Not looking forward to it, based on what I've heard. Oh well, at least Chernobyl's  fuck ing incredible so far... Barry too.  Hopefully Watchmen and His Dark Materials are also good.

I hit the front page of the Epic store the day the sale was announced... Saw nothing that I thought I would play right now, realized these prices will look bad by the time I get around to playing them (if I ever get around to playing them), and it certainly wasn't worth me dealing with another client so I closed the page and went about my business.

GoT finale was pretty "meh" and felt like major set-up for the 3 spin-offs. Very underwhelming conclusion, which might be one of the most disappointing in TV.

GoT's conclusion is up there down there w/ Mass Effect 3, which in gaming has one of the most underwhelming conclusions also. ME3 must hold it for gaming, as like GoT, there were so many moving parts here that....just wound-up being a big underwhelming mess, in the end (or lack thereof).

Barry's finale was great last night; and Chernobyl's been great so far.

The Epic sale was obviously poorly communicated to the developers and that's completely on Epic. Developers were blindsided by it and some didn't want their games to be regarded as only worth $20 before they even launched. Comparisons to eBay or Amazon or Steam don't wash since we're talking a much smaller salection of products and much more focused impact and, let's face it, Epic ain't in the league as those companies. When you're still bribing people to please sell on your store, you need to tread differently than eBay does. It was a blunder on Epic's part no matter how you slice it.

In other internet anger-war news, it took console players over 56 hours to beat the Division2 raid after PC players had it beat in 5 hours.

Of course. Both sides are at fault for separate issues. I understand the "devaluation" side of it too and it was dumb for EGS to frontload the $10-off discount on everything instead of putting it as a last step before checkout. Devs don't want their games selling for new, out-of-control historical lows. Because forums like CAG pay attention to that stuff and then will no longer pay anything more than the new low. EGS screwed their clients with their pricing.
