Sixty in March update:

Five more games down:

55: KAMI (3/13; 2 Hours played; 5 stars) - One nicest, most tactile puzzle games I have ever played.
56: Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (3/14; 5 Hours played; 2 stars) - BRO BRO BRO BRO BRO BRO BRO BRO BRO BRO BRO
57: Shelter (3/15; 97 Minutes played; 4 stars) - Nice art, cute badger tots.
58: Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days (3/15; 3 Hours played; 3 stars) - That shaky cam... gonna hurl...
59: Dear Esther (3/15; 54 Minutes played; 4 stars) - If you want to appreciate this game, play it right after Kane & Lynch 2!

Previous updates:
01: Luxor (3/1; 9 Hours played; 3 stars) - Started in Feb. It's ok.
02: Love (3/1; 38 Minutes played; 3 stars) - Pretty fun.
03: The Graveyard (3/1; 13 Minutes played; 1 or maybe 5 stars) - A true gem! Or maybe not. But maybe!
04: Happy Song Prototype (3/1; 5 Minutes played; 3 stars) - Nifty?
05: The White Birch Prototype (3/1; 16 Minutes played; 4 stars) - Very nice atmospheric climbing game. Rough mechanics.

08: Magical Drop V (3/1; 30 Minutes played; 2 stars) - Not sure if this game is designed for kids or perverts.

27: Lee-Lee's Quest 2 (3/4; 25 Minutes played; 4 stars) - Decent platforming, pretty funny.
28: Super Amazing Wagon Adventure (3/5; 63 Minutes played; 5 stars) - Super inventive and hard as hell.
29: Samorost 2 (3/5; 42 Minutes played; 4 stars) - Puzzles could be a bit tricky, especially the last one. Super cool game though.
30: Guns of Icarus (3/5; 38 Minutes played; 3 stars) - Pretty fun turret defense game.
31: Post Apocalyptic Mayhem (3/5; 51 Minutes played; 3 stars) - Pretty fun but the scoring system makes the race not really matter.
32: Scoregasm (3/5; 28 Minutes played; 3 stars) - Twin-stick shooter. 'Nuff said.
33: Proteus (3/5; 30 Minutes played; 5 stars) - Like Minecraft without all that annoying stuff to do!
34: Data Jammers: FastForward (3/5; 43 Minutes played; 2 stars) - This is a game.
35: DLC Quest (3/5; 36 Minutes played; 4 stars) - Funny, easy platformer. Chef recommends!
36: Bumbledore (3/6; 36 Minutes played; 2 stars) - Should have stayed a mobile game.
37: Gunman Clive (3/6; 51 Minutes played; 4 stars) - Cool Western platformer with a few fun twists.

42: The Room 2 (3/8; a few hours played; 4 stars) - Pretty awesome. Very tactile.
43: Fat Princess (3/8; 2 Hours played or so; 2 stars) - Kind of fun, but it kept telling me to buy DLC.

50: Frog Fractions (3/11; 1 Hour played; 4 and 3/3 stars) - Everyone should play this one.
51: Beast Boxing Turbo (3/11; 2 Hours played; 4 stars) - Silly and fun and punching.
52: Digital - A Love Story (3/12; 2 Hours played; 4 stars) - Liked this one a lot.
53: don't take it personally, babe, it just ain't your story (3/12; 2 Hours played; 4 stars) - Shakespearian, but is it a comedy ... or a tragedy?
54: VVVVVV (3/12; 2 Hours played; 1-5 stars, depending how much you like to die) - Very frustrating but satisfying.
Then you need to do a "ONE in April". You have to play only one game through the entire month

You could've turned the shaky cam off.. Also, not saying K&L2 is a great game or anything (its far from one).. but still a much better game than Inversion.

Seriously, you lucky fox!

I didn't win, and I think I'm done sticking around.

Congrats for everyone who won! I noticed a few other names in there that I recognized. And good luck for the rest of the giveaways.
Did you donate? Donating gets you a high chance of winning

Pretty sure I've been seeing several people selling codes from the stream in the steam trade thread.

Jackasses.

Hell of a discount. Now that's a cheapass :)
The reseller's are bastards, but Fox needs his own theme song for his own CheapAssness:

Won Epic Battle Fantasy 4, Vanguard Princess, Damned, UnEpic, and Half Minute Hero!

Congrats on a great fundraiser, Carlmundo

Thanks Carlmundo!

I won Metal Slug 3 and picked up AC:IV Black Flag with the Ubisoft choice code.

Congratulations for meeting and surpassing your goal for Naomi House. Also, thanks for all the hard work you put into organizing this event for charity, very well done sir.

Managed to come out with Valdis Story and Two Worlds II.  And a sore on my bum.  Not exactly a Foxy haul, but it helped beef up my Steam Library.

...

And charity...can't forget that!

A Japanese guy would be turned on by that.

Grabbed Lego Marvel at Gamefly and those idiots put my order on hold again. Just like last time.

At least my Oniken key works now.

<3

I hated CS because I got headshot...ted from halfway across the map with a friggin pistol. The game is just not made for new people to pick up easily.

At least TF2 has something that resembles balance.
I used to play CS way back when and then some of CS Source. But most of my Half Life gaming was on Half Life 1 series (CS Beta and 1.6, DoD, Firearms and so on). It was no different then. People used to freak on you if you messed up or weren't as good. Now I jumped on this just to play around with it and for $3.75, pretty cheap regardless.

I'm just going to play it to have fun. Was playing the non-competitive modes and they are just as fun as some of the source mods were.
I'll get some enjoyment out of it with how many mods there are for it, and hopefully just playing around on it with other CAGs, but besides that... Yuck.

Sounds like someone is just bad at the game. Once you realize that CS doesn't play like any other FPS (except maybe the older CS games) it's a lot of fun. You aren't a bullet-sponge like in the games you mentioned, you WILL die in the blink of an eye, and since you can't look down the sights for any gun without a scope, you better get good at shooting from the hip. But saying that the game is bad because other people are better at it and you don't immediately excel at it is really immature and unfair to the game.
Sounds like someone didn't even read my post, considering nowhere did I say that my experience was bad because of sucking. I got kills just fine when I just stayed indoors. Almost the entire other team was camping with sniper rifles.

And if you think it "doesn't play like any other FPS" I have no idea what you've been doing for the past two decades. Hell, this game almost plays like Perfect Dark Zero, and that game is hilariously bad. It's dumb fun for multiplayer with friends, but it's the same ancient feeling, bad graphic, shitty movement, one shot headshot kill nonsense. Not to mention just about every popular MP shooter these days doesn't allow you to be a bullet sponge. There's that one game... what's it called again? Call of something? Yeah, you die pretty fast in that one too, I think.

Not to mention everything besides sniper rifles firing only from the hip is the dumbest thing I've ever come across in a modern FPS. What is this, 2.5D mechanics making a comeback? This game is for the elitist fucktards who claim to be the "purists" of the FPS genre, and that was exactly what Valve had in mind when they made CSGO and almost entirely avoided modernizing any of the mechanics. It's a dated, terrible game by today's standards, unless you've been hooked to Counterstrike since the old days when the mechanics were actually impressive for their time. Today? No thanks, the community is a bunch of bitchy neckbeards having man-periods and arguing with each other.

Also, I was still giving the game a chance, but the ridiculous glitches that I talked about in my post, and the lack of a helpful community, convinced me to just say "fuck it" and move on.

So Ashes, I was thinking fantasizing today. Since combining couples names (Brangelena, Bennifer etc) is the new thing, if we ever hooked up (now you see the fantasy part?) would we be AshesShadows or Mr. and Mrs. WalkonAshes? ShadowKitty, maybe?

Oh, silly me. You probably need more info about me, well:

I'm 5' 8" (6' in heels), and if we went on a date, we'd go to Dunken Donuts because they are offering free iced coffee this weekend (I hope you like iced coffee). Just the coffee...unless they have a coupon or something, then I'd get you a free doughnut.....I'm starting to see why I'm not already involved....

Oh crud, is the Steam thread pairing off? I'd better get in on this before all three of the female (semi-)regulars are accounted for.
I call the married lady.

It's a crappy game, don't feel bad.
Gosh... I hate myself for saying this, but I agree with Mooby. Gun Monkeys is possibly the worst game in my Steam library... and I have Arkania: Blade of Destiny!

Guess I'll just make a new Gamefly account.

Okay making a new account worked, successfully bought the game. I had issues checking out with Paypal but it turned out Adblock was breaking the page somehow.

I looked for that option and didn't see it. It's over now.

Also, I had fun with Inversion, playing co-op, while K&L2 was a slog to get through solo. I know part of that is the solo vs co-op and amounts of pleasure derived therein, but it was just not fun. "Worse than deep-fried tampons" is my favorite review of it:

Yahtzee pretty much nails this game 100% IMO. I only gave it 3 stars because sometimes I would be like, "Who is that maniac saying all that crazy gibberish?" before I realized that it was me, and I needed my meds.

I loved Kane & Lynch 1... One of the few games I've played within the last few years and played all the way through in one setting. Just got wrapped up in the story, the gameplay wasn't anything special but it was fine, and Lynch was pretty hilarious.

I seriously loved both Kane and Lynch titles. The story and setpieces on the first are simply awesome. And the multiplayer is pretty darn good, like a Payday in third person.

It's too bad Kane & Lynch 1 will probably die a fiery death because Squeenix won't pay to have Eidos port it to Steam.

... or fix the multitude of bugs that prevent people from playing the game properly.

Do you mean porting the multiplayer to Steamworks? Because the game is already on Steam :p

Yeah, I got it for Xbox 360 at a garage sale for two bucks. Can't complain.

Finally started Arkham Origins.

Kept wanting to be able to zoom out during the tutorial level.

Once I got out into the city and had the freedom to glide around, things felt right.

Just defeated Deathstroke.  Am having fun.

HEY! I don't have a neckbeard! My avatar is true to form. ;)

[customspoiler="TL:DR re: Counter-Strike"]

Haha, oh man. Sniper rifles have always caused quite a few contentious and emotionally charged arguments in CS. Also known to be called a "no skill" weapon. It has it's place for specific maps. The most comical use is in close quarters maps like an office building. The realism wears off pretty fast at that point, if it was there to begin with.

I'm not here to defend CS, but I do hear you regarding certain aspects of CSGO. It's a very niche game and one that's not easy to adapt to unless one is familiar with the series. Even then the jump from Source to GO was a bit dicey for me at first. I had to readjust to the altered aiming mechanics and in the early going I hated GO. I acclimated eventually but it took some time.

The look and mechanics is what makes CS unique, love it or hate it. Pretty visuals and gimmicks can also be camouflage for an awful game too. Lord knows there are plenty of those to go around. I don't need to defend how CS looks or feels as it's just a game amongst thousands of games. It either suits you or it doesn't basically.

If anyone was looking to pickup CSGO, the free for all deathmatch and gun game variety are a nice place to start out. It's a good way to play with all the weapons, aiming tactics, learning the maps, etc... It's even better when you have friends that play. That's how I was hooked when I first got into version 1.6 back in the day. Then once you get pretty good that's when it can become addictive. Also modding and custom maps can make the game more fun as well.

As for the community, I can't say I've run into too many "bitchy neckbeards" or the like. Although, there will always be those who like to run their mouths and/or have a paper thin perspective that it's only a game. Sadly Internet competition can bring out the worst in people's personalities, especially those with low self-esteem.

To sum it up, CS isn't a game for most people with all of the variety at our fingertips today, and I think everyone already knows their range of genres they prefer to play at this point. Furthermore, with how we all like to backlog and collect, this shouldn't be and isn't a game for that.

Well, once I stuck to staying indoors only I did fine enough and got kills. But I literally had my entire team die 5 rounds in a row, within about 30-60 seconds each round, because of their snipers. I clearly was put on a really awful team, but yeah. The only reason I would stay alive longer (and be the last man remaining on my team) was because I stayed inside on the map we were on, and their whole team would have to say "Okay, we sniped everyone. Now we actually have to move to kill this guy."

I played a handful of other matches on different maps to get a better feel of things, and while I obviously didn't do very well, I'm not just sitting here dissing the game because it's too hard. I have no problem with difficulty in games, in fact it usually appeals to me because I don't like jumping into something having it more or less mastered.

I think that's what it comes down to, though. The graphics are arguably modern if you're stretching the term, but the gameplay isn't. I've played my share of old FPS games, and that's what this feels like. It's picking up a new shooter, expecting a modern experience, and getting a slightly updated (mostly just graphically) version of CS from years ago. And then you have guys who have devoted their lives to playing this game for a decade or so, and have things down to a science. Hell, reading that newbie guide they even outlined a strategy of aiming just around a corner, right at head level, and picking your mouse up off the pad to keep your aim perfectly straight, and clicking to fire right as someone comes around the corner for instant kills.

Honestly, the "strategies" are ludicrous. That's fun? Not my kind of fun. I understand that nostalgia factor and wanting a pure, exacting experience, but it's all... almost mathematical. I still look forward to trying some sillier game modes and playing with fellow CAGs, but the rest of it... eh. I haven't disliked a game for so many reasons in awhile.

And commercials and ads between the rounds? And making it into a big TF2 style cashgrab? It's Valve's brilliance at siphoning more and more money out a game beyond the original purchase, but that kind of thing is really, really not my bag of chips. I'm just glad I only wasted $3 on it.

It's playable with a controller, but it plays much better with a wheel.
Wut? You're saying the menus are better with a wheel or did you not really read my post and threw up a reply anyways? :)

Sure you do. Some shooters model bullets more fully than others. Of course, without something like wind effects added in, a skilled player will be able to compensate for bullet drop from a very long way away even when using a pistol.

Note, also, why a pistol loses accuracy in real life, even without wind. It's not that the bullet travels randomly. It's that bringing a gun up to firing position involves muscles and movements. Being slightly off when raising a pistol to firing position and aligning it to your eyesight is rather harder to avoid than being slightly off when pressing keys and clicking mouse buttons.
So basically your saying that firing a pistol in a CS isn't really realistic...?

(No wind, humidity, temperature, or altitude... All of which effect drag, which effects bullet drop. There's no accounting for breath and pulse, etc... or bullet performance.)

Granted, allot of that stuff isn't measured for the long arms either but like I said... I would just like to see one of these realistic games make it so you would realistically never want to have a handgun over a rifle...

What's funny about this is that you've spent infinitely more time whining about CS:GO than you have actually playing it.
Actually, I think he's just being nice and answering/replying back...

Americas Army, the old ones at least. The snipers got sniper rifles and a pistol, everyone else had rifles. As a sniper, as soon as your sniper rifle wasn't useful, you sure as shit looked for any rifle you could find because the pistols were worthless. Well, except for sneaking up on a dumbass enemy sniper who wasn't aware of their surroundings.
