Wait a sec, Disney games?

Is Rod Sterling around somewhere? (Or Forest Whitaker, depending on how old you are.)

Edit: HOLY CRAP THIS HAS EPIC MICKEY 2! WHOA!

Holy fuck, Ubisoft just admitted they're nerfing AC unity to 900p on ps4 in order to avoid a debate over which console version is better. I'm sure their exclusive marketing deal with MS had nothing to do with it.

Made my decision easier, will buy on PC for very cheap. I'll buy whatever Nvidia or amd code they're giving out for $20-25. I'd been debating buying on ps4 to play the co-op with friends.

It's also locked at 30 frames per second, as well:

http://www.ign.com/articles/2014/10/06/assassins-creed-unity-locked-at-900p-for-both-xbox-one-ps4

Are they gonna nerf AC Unity PC to 900p res' as well?

What about texture quality - is that gonna be nerfed to low dimensions (below 1080p), as well?

Is it gonna stuck with a 30 FPS lock, too?

I mean, they did nerf the graphics quality + bells & whistles of Watch Dogs PC...

Can't speak for the overall game play yet but Alien: Isolation looks gorgeous on my computer.  I started it for a little while but actually decided I didn't want to get into it during broad daylight.  Going to wait until tonight and throw on the headphones for the full experience.

Sweet! For reference, what are your system specs?

Well 30 fps was a given, AC4 was the same and it's less technologically advanced, or so they'd have you believe. I felt dirty buying console over PC so at least that's something I can get off my back. I'm still buying The Crew on console tho.

On that topic, The Crew PC beta was locked to 30fps but you could modify some ini file to change it.

Also on that topic, The Crew was just delayed til December 2.

Dick move, for sure.

i7-860 processor overclocked to 3.6 GHz

Radeon 7950 3GB video

12GB memory

My monitor only displays up to 1680x1050 though (which I know is small for some of you) so that's what it's set at but the system defaulted to Ultra level graphics and it's playing without any hitches. Wasn't even running my system hard as far as temps go. Looks real nice, I just want my first "real" impression of it to be in the dark ;)

What is your monitor's size?

What res' did AC4 on XB1+PS4 consoles run at - 1080p? 900p? 720p?

Speaking of overclocking, does anyone know where I can find a good BEGINNER's guide to overclocking? I've built a few rigs, but haven't done any major tweaking with them. Thanks!

Submitted for your approval... the man's name is Serling.

(In before the obvious response voicing disapproval.)
Whoops. My bad. ;_;

Yes! And now that Disney is awake and aware of "that thing called Steam", perhaps they'll put a fuck ing discount on LEGO Indiana Jones for once.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

I'm pretty sure that all of the games they added today will never see another discount again.

From IGN:

The Xbox One and PS4 versions of last year's Assassin's Creed: Black Flag both initially ran at the 900p resolution, but a later patch bumped the PS4 version up to 1080p.
Regarding AC Unity:

Saying that the CPU processing the AI in the game while also processing the number of NPCs on the screen presented a bottleneck.

"It's not the number of polygons that affect the framerate," Pontbriand explained. Rather, the tradeoff comes when deciding to keep either a high framerate or convincing AI. He said that they could be running at 100fps if they only had to take into account the graphics, but the AI demands on the processor have moved them to lock the framerate at 30fps on both console versions.

The funny footnote to all of that is the Ubisoft quote that they won't be bringing AC: Unity to the WiiU because they "don't want to cheat fans by giving them a lesser experience"

So why put the game on anything other than the PC?

Too many console gamers play on either of the Sony or Microsoft platforms; or might have both - so, they ain't gonna ignore them.

I doubt the WiiU is anywhere as popular as either the XB1 or PS4.

And I don't think the WiiU has close to the power of the XB1, nevermind the PS4.

EDIT:

UbiSoft doesn't know how to be friendly to PC gamers.

See their original always-online DRM for UPlay

See how weak + lackluster their UPlay gameplay-client/service is when compared to even Origin, nevermind Steam.

See also how un-optimized, buggy, and shoddy some of their PC versions have been.

And also see how they down-graded PC graphics quality and features for Watch Dogs PC.

will be nerfed. Prepare for 900P at 30FPS, my fellow Master Race. This is Ubisoft we are talking about

Good move, that's what it feels like as a PC gamer time and time again when these shitty laptop caliber consoles hold back the PC industry.

Or you could just skip shitty games like AC entirely.  Can I say shitty?  Maybe I should say poopy.

I followed some guides, but they were specific to my chipset/motherboard. As a beginner, you will likely be best off following guides for your specific MB- The settings will line up with your BIOS settings and this will remove uncertainty from the process. Google is your friend.

One guide I had bookmarked is this: http://www.reddit.com/r/overclocking/comments/vk25i/simplified_guide_to_ivy_bridge_overclocking/

Other good information was on http://www.overclock3d.net/

Finally, I found that a fixed overclock was much easier to implement than an "offset" overclock.

Hope this helps.

I'll look into them, thanks a lot!

I think Foxhack was just expressing his joy that his fellow CAGs got some extra perks thrown in on the already crazy good deal which he missed out on.

Just picked that up last week too, sweet! Too bad it's 15 so card prices will normalized at sucky prices.
