I didn't notice anyone post this, but I haven't been around here long.

http://woobox.com/otj8nn (working again, for now)
Anyway, it's a crappy Steam game (Final Slam 2) for free.

Edit: It does have cards, so... there's that.

Not sure if this has been mentioned, there's a one-day sale going on at Hanako Games:

http://www.reddit.com/r/GameDeals/comments/29ldyi/hanako_games_long_live_the_queen_magical_diary/

You can get Long Live The Queen or Magical Diary at 70% off with a discount code from the dev. The European price is kinda crazy though.

Edit:
... and Magical Diary is $20 at their site instead of $15 on Steam. The hell?
What are the odds that The Royal Trap is going to be bundled now that it's coming to Steam? I've been wanting to get it for a long while now, and this is the best price I've seen, but I'd really prefer $5 or less, especially if it's going to be bundled eventually.

Very long term it's probably likely at some point. In the shorter term I don't think it will be any time soon. Science Girls got bundled fast but I also don't think she sees it as one of her flagship games. LLTQ came out before it and still hasn't been bundled. Magical Diary took forever to get bundled, almost 2 years.

I guess the thing is will you play it and if so will you play it, oh I don't know, in the next year? Because if so I don't think it's likely to get bundled by then but my name also isn't Miss Cleo so who knows?

Anyway, I bought it. :p

Okay, all CAG in-jokes aside, actually playing a game from your backlog is one thing; but who plays a game within a year or two of buying it? Communists, that's who.

Hopefully there will be opportunititties for better sales, but this last sale will go down as one of the worst in the anals of Steam history.

My fashionably late summer sale haul post:

My lack of "indie" games purchased is due to them inevitably being included in a bundle at some point. Or the "indie" had already been included in a missed bundle and I couldn't bring myself to buy it. It didn't feel right.

To wrap up the Summer Sale and start looking to the future, let's answer these 2 simple questions:

1.) What game did you buy during the sale that would hurt the most if it were to be bundled imminently?

2.) What game did you NOT buy during the sale for fear of said imminent bundle?
Hmm probably Call of Cthulhu Wasted Land cause it was a very quick impulse buy. I didn't realize it was also on Android and I'd kick myself if it got in a good android bundle.

Muffin Knight. It was currently bundled I just wasn't interested in any of the games it was bundled with. Because it was though I couldn't pull the trigger on it by itself.

Good post!

1) Goat Simulator. It would probably be higher-tier stuff if went into a Humble Bundle but it'd still hurt.

2) Gunpoint. It's made for bundling.

For me, Shadowrun Returns would fit #1, because I had no interest in it prior to the sale. Could've waited until a bundle, even though I have been enjoying what I've played of it. I skipped Gunpoint at 75% off pre-sale hoping that it'll hit a bundle soon.
1.) Cloudbuilt. Looked great, high discount, but still the most expensive non-AAA game I bought. Will (hopefully) play it sooner rather than later.

2.) Strike Vector. Also looked great, but as an MP-only title I just couldn't shake the hunch it'd be bundled soon. Decided to try out the f2p Hawken instead (which is awesome, btw.)

What's up with NinjaSquirrel's very in-depth and thought provoking reviews?

I thought reviewing games on Steam was something you were only supposed to do when you are drunk.

Is he drunk?

The Gaben giveth and the Gaben taketh away. Now that the Summer Seal is over and the thread is crawling . . .

Time for another contest.

Write me a Limerick.

It must be in correct format, it must be obscene (as all limericks should) and it must contain at least one game name from your Steam library. Entrants have to be CAG registered at least 3 months and have 20+ posts, only one entry per person. Contest ends in less than 24 hours from the time of this post. I'll pick my favorite submissions, and the winners get a game from my bundle leftovers. Quote this post with your entry.

Contest over.

No, he was right.

Hey look, another Dead Island game. I can't believe how many games this series already has in it...Dead Island 1/2, Riptide, the MOBA, and now this. That's 5 games in three years! For a series that is by no means anything amazing.

I though DI was great so this is great news. The MOBA is okay, but I think most MOBAs suck anyways so this isn't much different.

DI2 is also being developed by the studio that did Spec Ops, whereas the original was developed by Techland who are working on Dying Light, so that might give you dumbasses who didn't like the game hope for something different.

I thought that the Devil May Cry

When I stuck my Dead Bits in his eye

The devil he laughed

and cut off my staff

I've now a Dark Void not a third eye.

ftr, i like dead island 1 (never played riptide or the moba). i just don't think the IP itself is one that I would expect to be good enough to rationalize 5 games in 3 years.

It's islands full of zombies. I'm pretty sure that's enough to rationalize infinite games. And they are going into very different genres with two of the games so give them credit for not just changing a few character models and putting out the same thing year after year.

For what it's worth, as someone who likes MOBAs, I think the Dead Island MOBA is fuckin terrible.

It's not even a MOBA, there's like control points and you just wavebase against some AI for a bit. There might have actually been some PVP in that, but I didn't play long enough to check.

I did think the original DI was alright and DL looks cool.

Scrap Metal.

I think MOBAs suck in general so I'm not really a good person to judge them. I had more fun in Epidemic than the few times I've tried to force myself to play DOTA.

Derpademic is a very casual MOBA (even has a cooperative mode).  Unlike DOTA, though, (that makes its money from aesthetic items); Derpademic is essentially pay-2-win with a massive grind for weapons and items if you don't.

They are supposed to be something you only do if you are a fanboi and write gushing praise. Otherwise you get downvoted all to hell.

Post summer sale, I'm filled with regret
My library grew several octets
Though Goat Simulator is great
We can't procreate
And the cards won't quite free me from debt

It just worked for me, well, at least I was able to get a key. I'm at work so can't activate the key to make sure it's valid, but the website itself worked.

Shit, contest's over. We have a winner, everyone go home.
Nobody should run uncontested, even if they can't be beat.

On my roommate's laptop I did see

A screen of Drunken Robot Pornography

He shuddered delight,

Moaned with all his might,

And his Woodle Tree sprayed all over me

There was an old man with a penis
His favorite game was made by square enix
A chronic masturbator
He loved playing tomb raider
And called his wiener "rise of the Phoenix"

Before Fox opened his mouth, that was probably the best pub the series has ever received.

The Devil May Cry one was good but in an effort to not surrender:

It's clear Anna still needs her toy,
as you're packing no Super Meat, Boy.
You should Fear for your wife,
Cause whats best in her life,
Is in fact Electronic Super Joy.

Oh wow, Fatshark is developing that new Dead Island game?  Going to be worse than usual -- Fatshark is a TERRIBLE developer.

Whoa whoa whoa whoa... Spec Derps devs are making Derp Island 2?  Comedy gold.  Aside from being 2deep4me, Spec Ops was utterly atrocious gameplay-wise.

I definitely should have had some coffee before trying this:

There once was a lad named Tim Tebow,
who played games in his spanking gazebo,
he got sick and died,
playing Ticket to Ride,
his only drug was a placebo!

One day while playing BioShock,
I suddenly heard a loud squawk,
It was a big bird,
who called me a nerd,
and then he flew away with my cock!

I just wanted to play The Witcher,
and not make Valve any richer,
Gaben came over,
to be my gay lover,
he said, "You catch, I'm the Pitcher!"

I searched the Steam sale for glitches,
to save some of my hard earned riches,
but I couldn't find any
good games for a penny,
fuck that and fuck you, you're all bitches!
