$33.49 - Battlefield: Bad Company 2

Own Battlefield: Bad Company 2 & have Medal of Honor on pre-order through Steam and you get beta access four days early.

EDIT: Mistyped about the beta access originally.
Untrue. I played the original Crysis a while back, didn't finish it because I had let a friend borrow it, and it looked great even on Medium. Better than anything else on the market. Sure BF BC2 might look a bit better now, but Crysis still looks excellent.
You must've been playing a different Crysis than I was then, bro.
hmmmmmmmmmmm I don't have bf2 and I need BC2. Thinking thinking to bite or not to bite
EA pretty much downgraded the servers two months after release. Now it's an extreme laggy mess across all systems.

Just something to think about before you purchase it.

(Rank 50 here)

On BC2? That sucks. I just wanted it so I could play with friends. These prices are slightly disappointing though :(

If your friends play on private servers, it shouldn't be a problem.

If you're thinking about BC2, I'd pass, at least for PC. It hasn't been patched in weeks, while the consoles have been, including the BIG 500+ MB patch that has been in QA for I don't know how long. Big annoyance? The in game server browser doesn't show ping times, the column is empty, yeah, NO PING TIMES! The workaround is to run the game in administrator mode, nuts to that. You pretty much have to look at the servername/description and hopefully it'll mention the city it's located in. The super delayed patch supposedly fixes that.

Also, the new co-op Onslaught mode? Consoles get it, the PC doesn't. Not delayed, it just doesn't. EA's reason (according to the devs in the forums), the Onslaught mode requires a server to host 4 people at a time, while regular multiplayer hosts 16 or 32 (I forget which one), so no PC version. I don't get it, why the hell can't they just get more servers? I guess only consolers get that.

I got the game the week it came out, played through the single player campaign, was fun, not over-the-top like MW2. Mainly got it for multiplayer, which I barely played cause it was hard to find a close enough server and going through a long list to find one got annoying after a day.

And today (or was it yesterday?) EA/DICE announce that BC2 has a new expansion coming out, Vietnam. Glad they're spending time on that instead of fixing the already released game. Screw you DICE! Jumped ship from Infinity Ward to them, screwed on both ends.

If you really wanna play it, get the console version. I personally hate using the gamepad for first person shooters, thus got it for PC.

I also see ping times when I browse games.

Anyway, the server browser is not perfect, but it functions. Searching for a server by name basically doesn't work, but you can sort them by name and then find one that way if need be. I don't know if they added the ability to find a server by IP, but they didn't have that last time I checked and that was irritating to me.

Honestly, I am surprised by the problems people have with this game technically. I have faced virtually zero problems since they fixed it up post-release, and still love it to this day. Just popped in a new gfx card, so I'm actually gonna go play it right now!

Highly recommend this game, absolutely get it if you are looking for a new PC FPS.

It may work in XP (don't know what OS you're running), but in Vista 64 it definitely doesn't for me. Lots of other folks in the forum have the no ping issue.

I saw em in XP and now in 7 (64-bit).

I believe the issue is there, I am just standing up and representing the part of the BFBC2-playing community that is not having issues and is enjoying their time with the game, as the few who have spoken about their issues have been very negative and very vocal, which may lead some to perceive them as being a part of a majority or even representative of all players' experiences. I don't think that is the case, to be honest, but I can't say I'm surprised by the issues people are having.

If strange, specific, and irritating issues are new to any PC players out there, I have a message to you:

"Welcome to PC gaming, on behalf of the frustrated but diligent (and ultimately satisfied) PC gaming community."

The ping issue is a known bug, DICE has a fix, it's been on hold for 1+ month. The upcoming Onslaught mode is never coming, that isn't something that diligence is going to fix.

I'm used to PC gaming issues that ultimately get fixed or worked around, been for decades, but I don't know if I'll ever get used to being forgotten while seeing the same game on the console getting the VIP treatment by the devs, especially since DICE pretty much "advertised" that PC gamers should forget MW2's treatment of PC gamers and buy BC2 when it comes out.

Yeah, just sour, just thought I'd let PC gamers know that they're better off getting the console version instead.

If there was a C&C3 bundle including Kane's Wrath for $15, then I'd think about it. But that's not the case, so I agree with Mike. Meh.
I have RA3 on disc. I am interested in RA3: Uprising. Do I need to own RA3 on steam before I can purchase Uprising?
You don't need RA3 on Steam/retail. Uprising is completely stand-alone.

What I don't know is: Is it worth it for $5?
These prices aren't boding well for the Dragon Age or Mass Effect days.
Agreed.

i also want to know if Uprising is purely single player?

Uprising is purely single player only.

I think if you liked RA3 single player then it is worth the $5.

Out of the games on sale I definitely like CNC3 + Kane's Wrath the best and CNC4 the least with RA3 somewhere in the middle. CNC4 was just really disappointing to me, I haven't even finished the single player since it released.

kinda glad the C&C deals are lame, it means less money I have to spend on Steam games. Also it looks like Dragon Age still isn't going to be at a price cheap enough for me to pick it up. Ah well, there is always the xmas sale.

Ha... I was thinking the same thing. I got all the Bethesda games last weekend, and couldn't resist Crysis also. The C&C I can resist......

Well I was siked for EA week, so many games I need, but at least they are making it easy to avoid. Prices are a tad high. I have yet to buy anything this week. oh well, more for my computer chair or car

I was hoping we'd see Awakening for 50% off, making it $20... but it seems like EA is content to do new releases at 33% off which is a shame.

I can easily predict this for Sat / Sun

Mass Effect 1 - 50% off
Mass Effect 2 - 33% off

Dragon Age Origins - 50% off
DAO: Awakening - 33% off

Probably right. It's hame ea and other companies use steam prices, which are higher than retail for a lot of older games, as a base price for sales.

That's exactly what I was thinking.

I hope the Oblivion GOTY Deluxe Edition bundle for $8.50 last week sold like crazy so that publishers will see ridiculously high prices for old games just won't fly. Bethesda tried to push their 4 year old game for $24 pretty much right up to that sale.
I thought the new sale updated at 9 AM PST. Guess not. Anybody know the real time?
10 AM PST. Another half hour and the new sales will be up.
Thats a real solid price on burnout they got there
I've got it for the PS3, and I can confirm that it's definitely worth that price. It's not the best of the Burnout series (3 thankyouverymuch), but it's quite good - well worth playing. They had it for $30 on the PS3 a while back, and that was steal. This is a top-of-the-line bargain.

Is there still a decent sized online community? I've wanted this game for some time now but have only considered it on the 360.

Does the ultimate box come with big surf island, toy cars, and all the other other released content? Or does it just come with the free stuff?

It comes with the party update, the motorcycles and such. the Toy and Legendary cars can be bought, but Big Surf Island and Cops and Robbers are not out for PC.

STILL: It is A LOT of game for 7.49 and well worth it.
What did Burnout cost during the Holiday sale? Was it the same price or was it $5?
It was the same price ($7.49) during the holiday sale because I picked it up then.
