Steam - Elder Scrolls Has Arrived with Launch Deals

I emailed support asking what was going on with the pricing. Got a reply back that implied nothing changed.

I'm kind of pissed. I may not even buy morrowi d now.

I prefer steam because I hate changing disks. And your games follow you everywhere.

Stuck at school? DL one of your games to your laptop.

Visiting your inlaws? Hide in their computer room with your entire game library a few clicks away.

And pricing is usually fairly competitive, which is a rarity in downloadable games.

Yeah 20% off works well when they keep raising the initial price ;-p

Guess I'm definitely waiting it out for that sale in 6 months, because there's no way in hell I'd pay $35 for something that was $25 two days ago.
Now valve has TWO boycotts to worry about. lol
apparently there is a Pro-L4D2 group, so that may even out the score... :D

I doubt that a boycott of an old, second-party title would worry Valve too much. It's not like they stand to lose much of anything.

I'm pretty sure that the boycotters are only a small percentage of the 3 million+ people who bought L4D1.

Also, and this is a little off topic, but their new "Specials" feature is getting a workout with all of these deals running long. Between the MMO's and these war games that just went up, there are 41 games in the specials column. It isn't even useful to look through them right now, lol
As another note:

Deluxe + III = $43 individual, $44 package WITHOUT DISCOUNT. They obviously haven't done the math correctly, they must be having communications problems over the price. Hopefully it swings in our favor, but it'll need to work out before the week is over for the 20% promotion.
Erm, when was the last time a botched promotion at Steam swung to the consumers favor?

Hmmm ... wait for a better Steam deal on Oblivion or pick up the GOTY edition from Frys for $14.99, what do you guys think?

I would do the Frys GOTY offer. Much better off if you ask me. Don't have to worry about the Steam stuff.

If you want Morrowind or hate CDs, then you may want to wait for an elder scrolls deal.

If you don't, then you will probably want the GOTY from Fry's.

Actually, you can still totally buy Morrowind in a store. I know Fry's has it for sure.

Quality wise, will it in anyway ruin Morrowind for me if I play Oblivion first? I've never played the series and it sounds like a great deal.

You do realize how big these games are right? Playing just one will take a LONG time. Keep that in mind when thinking of getting both.

For example, Ive been playing oblivion off and on for almost 2 years now and have begun doing the same with fallout 3. Most people dont "beat" these games they "experience" them.

I'm pretty sure they're standalone. They take place in different countries on that world's continent.

Daggerfall is still the biggest. They say that the in-game world is larger than Great Britain.

Damn, I just realized after buying the GOTY edition for $14.99 at Frys that it doesn't include the deluxe content ... I just assumed it would be the same as the standalone Knights of the Nine disc but from what I've read it only includes the original game and the 2 expansions ... fuck

At $14.99, I wouldn't be upset over the loss of the "deluxe" content at all.
