I wish I would have thought to do stuff like that on my chemistry and physics tests (while also putting down a real answer) because my high school science teacher would have found stuff like that hilarious.

I just used the innocuous 'because I said so' line on my physics tests.

The "find the x" one and the describe the graph ones seem to look like something I'd have done. I'm always correcting people's grammar use in real life like that.

"Can I ask a question?"
"You just did. Would you like to ask another question?"

People hate me for that at times, can't help it, it's a reflex.

I've served as a TA for some upper-division CS courses - you wouldn't believe some of the answers. Wish I could post them, but (1) they would only amuse Computer Scientists and (2) I would get in a shit ton of trouble :).

I've seen things akin to the guy being hung by the sqrt ;) But honestly it brightens things up when you have to grade 40 projects and one has a student expressing their frustrations with cartoons and such.

I would love to see some geeky CS jokes.

Seriously, no sarcasm. I'm in the field myself.

No way in the world that's legit. No one could be that dumb...

I think these are all taken from Boston University students

One time I figured that if I didn't do the final test in my Pre-Calc class I would still have over 100% so I just drew different kinds of robots everywhere.

You would be surprised what some people end up throwing out as answers, even at the college or university level.

Last time I saw an answer like that in high school, though, the student got five days of in-school suspension and got reemed with sickening amounts of work. He didn't make that same mistake again...although me made plenty of others.

Most likely.

I love how the essay guy cites tubgirl. I wonder if the professor checked it out.

I remember being in this science class in college. It was pretty low level but I was taking it to see how integrated science is approached so I could possibly teach it. Anyways we had group work all the time and we were discussing Earth's seasons or something and one of these brillant college kids go.... "Wait, which equator?"
I questioned what he meant. This completely serious student thought there was a vertical and horizontal equator.

My students have giving me absurd answers but they're 10. I'll never forget an explaination on plate tectonics being the plates move because the earth spins.

I think it said University of Scranton on the website ;)

Yeah, like you would know anything about that...

I don't think it is legit. Judging from the handwriting, it looks like the same person wrote both comments.

yep.

the only dumb answers I give are for questions asking to ID a person. If I don't know, I just write my name.
