I would say that I hope so, but they did add that Animal Crossing stage and the pitfall item so I wouldn't put too much meaning into this yet. Although, I would pretty much guarentee that some character from the Mother series will make it.
 
Big thing is from this item is Ness seems to be a given to return. The Animal Crossing stuff doesn't imply Tom Nook, Reseti, etc as much as this does for Ness, as Ness has been in the prior 2 games. I say hes a lock to be in it now.
 
There's something about the first comment that bothers me so much that I must present the question: Will they keep the Mother logo in the final US version?

Even though the answer to the question may seem obvious, it might be something for the Mother trilogy fans to think about.
 
I don't think they would take out a character who has been in both previous games. He is one the most popular characters. If anything, they should add Poo as well. Starstorm attack would be a perfect final smash.

I wonder if they'll keep Wavedashing in. after all, it wasn't meant to be there in the first place. I'd love an option to turn it off if it's in. All of the hardcore players need to remember games can be fun, too.

why can't it be both? Offline in fighting games is always better, but if online is done right it is just as good.
 
I'm not aware of a single instance of a fighting game being built from the ground up to be online and being competitive grade either online OR offline.

Street Fighter and Tekken were built originally as offline games first. Whats left? DOA and Mortal Kombat? Tekken 6 and SC4 arent out yet so we cant say about them.

I would be proud to say that Nintendo would be the first to accomplish this feat, but I'm not holding my breath.
