Super Smash Bros. Brawl - Gen. Discussion & Info

If I had to rate Brawl's SSE mode by itself, I'd give it a 6.

If I had to rate Brawl on a whole, without the nintendo / sega / konami characters, i's give it a 9

If I had to rate Brawl without Sonic, i'd give it a 10.

all in all, I'd give Brawl an 11.

i'm not sure any game can top this, let alone any fighting game.
 
I agree as far as fighting games go, smash is by FAR my favorite, its a great party game (that can EASILY be turned into a drinking game for you college folk)

it takes about 3 minutes for anyone to pick up a controller and learn how to play the game, but takes a lifetime to master.

Team battles are great, I've had parties where we do a team tourney, sort of like people do with beer pong.
 
They should have had more characters. Different ones at least. Fox, Wolf, and Falcon are almost the same. So why not add Shadow, tails, or knuckles as a character, not all of them. Or how about Mega Man, Simon Belmont, dracula, and others. Sorry but Olimar and Wario are stupid. Why not give Mario a move that turns him into racoon mario, maybe up and Special so he can fly like Pit. Plus there are too many Pokemon.

I've been fighting off the urge to d/l Super Metroid and/or restart Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones.
 
You can get a good amount of characters pretty fast without playing the SSE. Some characters would take forever though, like Toon Link, Wolf, etc.

What's up with all the Wario hate? I've been hearing a lot of people complain about him. Do you not like his moveset or is it the character that annoys you? I have a lot of fun using him and he's one of my favorites.

But I'm pretty biased since Wario's been my character ever since Mario Kart 64. I pick him all the time Mario tie-in games (Party, Tennis, Golf, etc.)
 
I don't mind Wario, I rarely use him but I think he is a good addition. Still bummed there's no Waluigi though. Would of liked to of seen more Mario characters thrown in, like from the tie-in games as mentioned.
 
Anyone know what ports need to be forwarded for Brawl? I can't seem to connect to anyone when I don't put the Wii in the DMZ, but I'd rather not have it in the DMZ and just forward the necessary ports.
 
I really like Wario and use him somewhat frequently. He's a natural fit for the game and should have been in the prior two regardless.

I would have liked to see Waluigi as well.
 
I just think Wario is a generic character, but i also dont like the way he runs, character design, and most of his moves arent that great. Waluigi is even worse since the name doesnt even make sense. If Waluigi was right, Wario should be Wamario. I dont know, ive never played a game with those two guys in it besides brawl.

Eggman would of been a nice character too, since some characters show up along side of their main boss enemy from their game.

The star fox final smash move sucks though. I mean a giant tank, some levels it just doesnt work at all. Try shooting someone in that thing on New Pork City level.
 
I agree that they really needed Eggman/Robotnik in it in some way. I was really hoping for a SSE Boss (along with the Sonic 2 boss music, EPIC).
 
Yes, Sonic's role in this game is just really weak. They made such a fuss bout him being in the game..for what?

Him in the SSE was really stupid, as he should have joined the party MUCH MUCH earlier. There should of been some Sonic level in the SSE AND of course a boss battle with Robotnik. :bomb:

...I mean, even in Event Mode there's not even a Mario vs Sonic event.

Sonic vs Mario would have been more fun than the "beat 20 other sonics with sonic" event. Even if they added eggman or Shadow they could have had a Mario and Luigi/bowser vs Sonic and Shadow/eggman. I dont know, maybe nintendo didnt want to make sega characters that big of a deal in the end.

I like that Shadow is at LEAST an Assist Trophy, and that Knuckles and Tails and.. Silver? make appearances in the Sonic stage and there's also tons of music from his games. That's great. But to include Snake from the middle of the SSE to the end..and NOT Sonic was pretty lame. There's no reason that Eggman shouldn't have been at LEAST an Assist Trophy.. but then again.. I'm not surprised by that because there's really not that many AT's..which is pretty weak since there's an endless supply of possibilities.

Question... in order to play with your "friends", do you have to *exchange* codes? Or can you add people who don't add you and still play with them through the friends option?

I know a lot of people's lists are already full, so I'm not sure who to add to my list. Stupid 64 friend limit...

I think Wario has a decent moveset, he's definitely a sleeper.

I just got the game recently and have been playing for about an hour a night online around
9pm cst. If anyone plays during this time please PM me your friend code and I'll add you to my list.

I have been using the play with anyone feature mostly and was curious the my record indicates how many games I have played online but no win / loss record. Do they have any stats for this in the game.

Once I unlock most of the characters I'll be playing more often online. Trying to beat single player about 30% complete so far.
 
lol I thought everyone knew about that site or I would have posted earlier...you can download a ton of maps there, and they all get rated and stuff too.

(The sites been up pretty much since release...)
 
Someone posted that like a dozen pages back. It's a shame that this thread can move so quickly sometimes that people miss little gems like that.
 
Yeah, sweet games earlier, fellas. Except for that last one. It got pretty laggy and I thought it was me, so I starting moving around my router's antennas for better reception during the brawl =/
 
This shit sucks. Lat night Yukine was online but I had no way to get his ass to notice me. I'll be on around midnight if anybody wants to play. Turn your 360 on too so I can actually chat with people.
