Super Smash Bros. Brawl - Gen. Discussion & Info
Question... in order to play with your "friends", do you have to *exchange* codes? Or can you add people who don't add you and still play with them through the friends option?

I know a lot of people's lists are already full, so I'm not sure who to add to my list. Stupid 64 friend limit...
You both need to add each other's codes or it won't work. Make sure you PM anyone you add so they know to add you back. You also might want to add those who post in here a lot since they are most likely to be online more often. Don't just randomly add anyone or you'll be wasting time and your friend list.

Also, their status as "Awaiting registration" won't change until you are both online at the same exact time.

Is there any way to rename your controller layout?
Is there any way to delete your controller layout?
Are all the stats and unlockables linked to your "name" of the controller layout? (if i was able to delete the controller layout, would i delete everything ive beaten?)
This shit sucks. Lat night Yukine was online but I had no way to get his ass to notice me. I'll be on around midnight if anybody wants to play. Turn your 360 on too so I can actually chat with people.

What time zone are you in? I may be up for that.

Edit: Yukine never notices me either :whee:
Sorry, I sometimes leave it online while I'm not playing so that it'll register those who are not showing up as registered.

It's interesting, did Gamestop get like a special save file or something? I can't imagine someone had to sit there to unlock all the characters for the tournaments they hosted. Or were only the initial characters playable?

What happens in other tournaments when you're good with a character and it's not unlocked!? It's hurting my brain!

Ok, thanks for the responses everybody... and thanks for the Brawl, Gunstar. That was fun!

One more question, if I join a friend's brawl, that means the match can have other people who are their friends but may not be mine, right?

Sorry to those I denied to join my brawl earlier. If I am fighting a less skilled player and a really skilled cutthroat player wants to join, I tend to decline to keep it evenly matched. Otherwise I'll normally let anyone in.

I think I got denied by a few people too. What message do you get when you're denied? It just said "Unable to join". Is that from being declined?

Do you get to keep the stickers, trophies, and CDs that are randomly dropped during online brawls? I always pick up a few everytime I'm fighting online, but never seem to find any new stuff in my Vault when I log off.
...I'm don't consider myself "cutthroat." :(
I don't think you're on my friend list, are you? Sorry if that was you, and I wasn't naming anyone in particular, but there are a few people on my friend list who give no mercy with Pit and Ike.

EDIT: I just added you Beef, so please add me if you're not already full.

Heh, don't worry about it. Wasn't even me. I don't even think you're on my friend roster, come to think of it. If you want to add me, go ahead, but I'm not near the Wii right now, and I won't be for a while. Probably not until sunday, when I have to start the tournament pairings.

Still looking for more people to add - I've got 26 on there and only about 7 or 8 are active. By the way, apparently the connection is instantaneous if you add someone who is currently online and they have already added you. I just added one CAG in and it showed "Online" status for him right away. Yet others on there (who claim they've added me) have been waiting for connection for over a week now.

It's funny. I have complaints about this game. I definitely have complaints about this game, as I do any game. Yet every time someone comes in here and talks about something that they don't like, my list of dislikes and their list of dislikes are completely different. If you made a venn diagram out of this shit, the middle would just be a big hole. I'm talking Strell's mom, here.
Am I one of the few people in the world that enjoyed the sailing in WW? It was so much fun to me!
I loved the sailing. Preferred it to Ocarina's Epona.
Why are Wario's movements so...choppy?
Because.
Evergoo is kicking my ass. WHo wants to join in.
GG Sean. Too much Ike weakened my skills with other characters. I need more practice with non-Ikes.
Speaking of saved files, is the brawl file so huge because of the replay/few custom stages? It sucks that it takes up like 128 blocks D:
Yeah I'm pretty sure the reason it's so big is because they reserve a lot of that space for custom levels, replays and pictures. If you save one of those things I believe it says how much free space you have left in your Brawl save. I think mine has 108 blocks left and I've been saving everything to an SD card.

JELLO and Sp00ge, I added you guys.

Great games Marc. You're a beast with Ike (although I can hold my own with Marth against him ;)) and that last battle was epic.
also why do only a select few games let you save a replay afterwards?
I think it only lets you save timed matches of 3 minutes or less and not stock matches, or I could be wrong. I think I read that replays can only be 3 minutes total.

I'm online now until probably 9pm if anyone wants to Brawl.

I actually like Wario & Olimar both a lot. I'd rather play as either of them than say, Zelda or Wolf. I think they really did a good job of transferring the Pikmin gameplay to Olimar for this actually- the best strategy IMO with him is to keep back and throw pikmin, just like in the pikmin games.

As for Wario, I think his moveset could be better. But he's pretty good, and besides that the Warioware level is by far my favorite(and has great music too- I'm glad they included Ashley's Song & Mona Pizza in particular).

Wait, so even if you use the SD card to save everything it takes a big chunk out of your Wii system memory? I don't have much left...

That's insane that you can't save your fuckin Brawl data to a god damn SD card. Why the fuck not??
Man. I'm going to my parents this weekend for Easter and I was gonna bring Brawl over and my copy on an SD card to play over there.. but I guess THAT can't happen.

I love this Wii, but why is everything so complicated?

I think you can't copy it do to the save being linked to the friend code. You can't copy Elebits save either. Does anyone know about other online games?

Then they could have made 2 separate save files for Brawl
Would one save file for your progress and the other for your online stuff be really difficult?

Of course it would.
Well I can rule out the stock factor. It has definitely given the option to save replays on stock games for me. You might be right about the 3 minute rule however.
