Surprisingly The Last Movie You Saw Didn't Suck Pt. 2

The North Face - A German movie about a 1936 attempt to climb a crazy-ass alpine mountain. Very, very good. I couldn't look away from the last hour of the movie, it is absolutely enthralling.

The Informant! - It was alright. Not at all what I was expecting, in a weird sort of way. I thought it'd be funnier, especially considering the talent involved.

MacGruber - It wasn't very good. It had a few really funny quotable parts, but overall I wish I'd waited to pay for it until it was at the dollar theater, or just not paid at all.

The Road
The Blind Side

I wasn't all that impressed with The Road, but The Blind Side was pretty enjoyable. I liked it a lot more because I love the NFL and I had heard a little bit of the story about Michael Oher before it was made into a movie.

i felt the road was well done while the blind side was hollywood fluff added to a true story. Sandra's ass did look wonderful though

I'm a big fan of Ridley Scott films, though I've heard mixed things about Robin Hood. Primarily critics seems to disappointed with the fact that it isn't like other Robin Hood movies -- so is there anything actually wrong with this movie besides being different?

Finally saw Inglourious Basterds. A shame it didn't focus on Brad Pitt more, as well as his posse. Shoshanna was hot and freaking awesome, and that could've been its own movie.

The Book of Eli - not as good as I hoped it would be. Could have used a couple more action sequences. They left the chick's story open and I hope they don't make a seqeul.

Question about book of Eli:

I didn't know if at the end he was blind or just illiterate. I read a spoiler a while back saying he was blind but the dude yelled he can't read when he saw the bible was in braille. he could be illiterate and learned braille but I think the director would have you think he was blind and guided by faith. What do y'all think?

Haven't seen it, but reviews I read complained about more than that. Mainly that it was over long, the plot was nothing special etc. etc.--kind of like Kingdom of Heaven in that regard per some reviews.

I think the problem with Robin Hood is it's trying too hard. Like that "bad buy" that screams all the time. "I declare him an OUTLAAAAAAAW!" Like Ridley's hoping to start an internet meme like "This. Is. SPARTA!"

I'll stick with the Kevin Costner version. Or even the Patrick Bergen version. Or even Robin Hood: Men In Tights.

Perhaps I'll wait for it to hit the shelves. Hoping for a great director's cut, as Kingdom of Heaven's was one of my all time favorite films.

He was
Definitely blind. There are signs of it throughout the movie such as when he kicks steps he's going up and at the beginning where he opens the closet with the guy who hung himself but wasn't surprised...he also bumps into stuff a lot if you pay attention to that. It's a movie that definitely needs a second watch to see all the signs

I assumed he wasnt surprised when he saw the body hanging in the closet because he has been wondering through an apocalyptic wasteland full of murderers and cannibals for the last 30 years. How would he know the dead guy's shoes were nicer than the ones he had on? Also, while his glasses were off you saw him obviously look at certain things throughout the movie. I am gonna go back and look for him kicking the stairs and other things like that though.

i did some reading around and it seems it is pretty universally thought that he was
blind
which is how the movie was suppossed to be.

Shutter Island - First of all, I really loved this movie. Second, I had a couple friends tell me that they didn't understand this movie. How the fuck do you not get it? Everything is explained! Is it a headfuck? Sure, quite a bit of one, but still, you find out what is really going on.

Iron Man 2 - 3/5 - much like the first, lots of talking, not much action. I went into Iron Man 2 not expecting much so i wasn't at all disappointed. The best parts included Sam Rockwell who again does an outstanding job. What a waste having him in Iron Man 2, hopefully he collected a nice paycheck. Scarlett Johansson was really nice eye candy but her action scene was ridiculous. She would throw a punch, flip hair, look at the camera in a badass fashion, grabs a guy spins and takes him down and slowly looks up at the camera. She had to have done that about 8 times in a 30second period.

Was Tao from American Gladiators (Tanoai Reed) the security officer Jon Favreau fought at the end of the film? imdb doesn't say so...but it sure as hell looked like him.

Sherlock Holmes.

It was alright. Just needed better editing as it meandered a bit and could have been 20 minutes shorter and told the same story.

Book Of Eli was a pretty decent movie, in my opinion, but the whole
"Hey, Christianity can save everyone" concept
kind of ruined it for me. And yes,
he was blind.

Book of Eli was great, The Road just came out on Dvd the other day and is really good but different, kind of like how No Country For Old Men was different. The book though of The Road, in my opinion was much better than the movie.

Psycho
Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events

Psycho was the Hitchcock version, not the remake. I'd never watched it in it's entirety. Fantastic film. As for LSaSoUE, I enjoyed this as well. A shit ton of cameos in this movie, including Dustin Hoffman who has basically 3 lines and Craig Ferguson who, if I'm remembering correctly, DIDN'T EVEN SPEAK.
^ Dude, watch Rear Window if you liked Psycho. That's my alltime favorite of his.
Heh, already seen it. That's my favorite of his (so far), also.

THE HUMAN CENTIPEDE - what the fuck?!?!?!

I believe this is probably the most sick and twisted movie I have ever seen. The general story is that there is this german christoper walken look alike evil genius that wants to put 3 humans together. Ass to mouth to share one digestive tract. I don't wanna say it sucked because I couldn't stop watching it and it freaked me out big time. It's like the first time you saw "Saw" and the ending left you a bit sick in the stomach. Well, the whole movie makes you feel that way and just gets worse. The acting is horrible except the evil genius (really great, IMO). I was laughing alot in the beginning due to the acting.

If you are looking for a type of movie that just gets you freaked out after watching it, this is it. This is not for the feint of heart because it is just GROSS. Not what they show (gorey but not too much) but just the whole idea of the movie. I haven't been so freaked out over a movie in a long time. Like I said, it's not a bad movie because its a scary movie and this shit delivers. Now, before I finish this post I just want to say...Feed her! Feed her! lol

Golden Slumbers (JP 2010) - Surprisingly good, a little bit hokey but strikes a good balance, a good conspiracy fast paced thriller about a man on the run for being framed. Also takes place in Sendai, a place I was just in this past week so I recognized some areas.

Shutter Island - Good.

Vertigo. It was outstanding. Will have to check out more Hitchcock movies--only other ones I'd seen were Psycho and The Birds years ago.
