Surprisingly The Last Movie You Saw Didn't Suck Pt. 2
Shutter Island - Fantastic, but I'm so confused with the ending.
He was "cured", but he played dumb so they'd lobotomize him. He'd rather die for a cause than live knowing what he'd done.

This is exactly how I took it, although me and my lady had a 20 minute conversation about it so I guess it could be open to interpretation.
High Tension - Pretty bloody however, your Fight Club mixed with my slasher flick?
Yeah, that was a good one. A lot of people hate it though. While I'd say it's a somewhat misleading movie with a cliche twist, I would still chalk it up to one more foreign horror movie that shames domestic horror releases. Wolf Creek, The Descent, and Let The Right One In are some other international heavyweights I'd recommend.

One I have yet to see (kinda dodging it because I hear it's tough to watch) is Eden Lake.

So if
He really did do that stuff, then what was with the body on the bottom of the cliff and also did he really meet the real Rachel?

Gone baby gone - great flick.

EDIT: the decision the main character makes at the end of the movie is still fucking me up...i seriously dont know why i never heard that much about this movie...everyone should watch it especially if you have kids

Edge Of Darkness. I am a Gibson fan, but I must say this was a bit of a let down. Not a horrible movie by any means, but nothing great either. The trailer shows all the best parts.

I recently watched Sherlock Holmes - it was awesome!
I love the cinematography and really enjoyed the story ... the editor really did a good job as well!

These days movies are getting more advanced, not only in filming techniques- but with reagrds to scripts as well - well in my opinion at least!

Nuff said!

:bouncy:

Couples Retreat was really terrible. I smiled maybe twice during the whole thing.

This is coming from someone who thought Four Christmases wasn't bad.

I think that they were both hallucinations, just like a lot of other stuff in the movie.

It ends slightly differently in the book:
Here's the last few lines of the book:
Teddy said, "I don't know, Chuck. You think they're onto us?"
"Nah." Chuck tilted his head back, squinting a bit in the sun, and he smiled at Teddy. "We're too smart for that."
"Yeah," Teddy said. "We are, aren't we?"
***
Personally, I thought the book had a perfect ending. I think it is evidence that Teddy regressed back into denial about being Andrew Laeddis, and his illness will never be cured. Movie was somewhat different.

I haven't read the book, but to me that excerpt still seems like it's up in the air as to whether he regressed or was just not interested in living with the guilt of having killed his wife. He also blamed himself for the death of his children. Because of this, I believe he wanted to be a "ghost" that was essentially dead from a lobotomy.

I didn't hate it actually it was really thought provoking after the big revelation like Fight Club. I think more cliche is the female heroine saving the day by killing the psycho killer. I picked up Wolf Creek for 2 bucks from Movie Gallery and plan watching soon. I have The Descent in my backlog along with Let the Right One In. There is another I heard is good called "The Hills Run Red" ever seen or heard of it?

I Come in Peace (Dark Angel) - 2/5 - Dolph Lundgren plays a cop who is investigating a few murders, which leads him to a few aliens which landed on earth to harvest drugs by killing humans with a heroin overdose. Its a pretty standard 90s film, some plot elements are left out for a sequel which was never made. There is a few decent action scenes with Dolph dropping some roundhouse kicks. What I found surprising is that there isn't any awkward moments for an alien while traversing the planet Earth. There are a few interesting characters in the story but they aren't visited enough. This film had the makings of a fun & good action/sci-fi movie but instead it became a below average film.

Is this the movie where the alien shoots out things that look exactly like CDs as a weapon? If so I remember thinking this movie was awesome when I was like 9 years old.

^ Yep, a metal disk that is attracted by electromagnetism and can be programmed to anyones frequency so it can bounce around and chop peoples throats. I never seen it before so maybe you will enjoy the nostalgia from watching it again, but I found it to be a pretty average action film.

Never heard of that one. I just looked it up on IMDB and I definitely gotta see that one.

Thanks for the quick response. I have a feeling this one would let me down if I were to see it again. Probably better left to my memories.

I tried to get it from Netflix for months and had no luck at all.

Probably because William Sadler is in it. ;)

Netflix is iffy on underground type stuff. They usually don't have a lot of copies. Took me a long time to get a copy of HBO's Paradise Lost documentary. I think that was their only copy, and it had a fucking crack in it. But amazingly, it still played fine except for one skip that I had to get around through hopping to the next chapter and rewinding.

I figured that out after I joined them unfortunately. Wow! I didn't know Paradise Lost made it to DVD. Truly, was a really tragic story. It really struck me since I wore black and listened to heavy metal as a teenager (this could easily have been me and some of my friends).

Actually, according the wm2.org site this will air this Saturday not Sunday.

I gotta remember to DRV that WM3 thing. I heard about that, but forgot. Cool fact: that documentary is one of the only times Metallica ever licensed out their music and they didn't charge or it, just gave them songs to use for free as the soundtrack, because they identified so much with the WM3.

That was thing that made me interested in watching it on HBO. I remember hearing the beginning of Welcome Home/Sanitarium in the previews and it peaked my interest. Did you know Henry Rollins to together a tribute cd several years ago for his old band Black Flag with artists ranging from Chuck D of Public Enemy to Tom Araya of Slayer amd all sales went to WM3 fund?

The Collector - Could have been better, but I thought it would be pure garbage, and it wasn't.

A Serious Man - Whoa. I seriously don't know what to think about this. It was incredible, and yet at the same time I'm totally pissed off at it.

Fantastic Mr. Fox - 4/5 - It took a bit for me to warm up to the style and general weirdness of Mr. Fox but once I did I started to really love the film. There are some moments in the film which had me laughing out loud, pretty much any time Kyle stops listening I would laugh. I am pretty sure I laughed out loud more during this film than The Hangover...but then again I didn't like Hangover as much as the rest of the world.

I really think I will love this film much more the second time around knowing what I am getting into, sorta like Repo: The Genetic Opera. I don't know if Mr Fox is for everyone. The style might turn some people off before they get a chance to truly enjoy a fantastic movie (har har).

That being said I do believe Up is going to win best animated film...but Fantastic Mr. Fox is a more lighthearted and in some sense more enjoyable film.

The Crazies - Not too bad. At least this is how remakes should have been done. Remake movies that were cheesy instead of fucking up classics.

I saw the Crazies as well. I thought it was pretty good except for some douchebags in the theater laughing at everything that was happening.

Also.
I'm understanding that the 2 that survived had the virus which is why the city they were going to was going to be quarantined?

I took it as they were immune to the virus but the government wanted to snuff them all out to prevent another outbreak. Thing is that they never really explained how the virus was getting around. First it was drinking the water, then it could have gotten airborne but never mentioned anything about being able to catch it from another person. If that's the case then the 2 should be alright. Pretty much another open ending. Most zombie/outbreak movies usually end like this.

Of course they were immune to the virus, they were also unbreakable and immune to nuclear radiation. Oh, and crazies who normally kill people take them hostage and give them speeches instead so that they have time to escape.

Watched Showgirls last night. I love Verhoeven, and I can see why this film got such a widespread hate from critics... I mean, it has more tits than most porn I've seen, and the dialogue is pretty shitty. Though, I can't hate on Elizabeth Berkley naked. I thought he was directing a new film called "The Surrogates" (Not the Willis one), but now I can't find anything on it...

Tenure - love movies like this...very enjoyable

The Informant! - great flick! it is crazy how the early 90's look like the 80's..i dont remember everyone dressing that badly

Inglourious Basterds - amazing....loved every minute... "You'll be shot for this!!" "Nah, I don't think so. More like chewed out. I've been chewed out before. "

Revolutionary Road - It was very well acted but it just didn't work. I would have probably enjoyed the book because the movie just seemed like it was lacking. I usually like dramas along the likes of Revolutionary Road but I just couldn't relate, life is full of left turns and the story just shows what happens when you try to fight instead of adapting, never-mind the fact that
April was bat shit crazy
.

Shutter Island. Good acting, somewhat predictable story, pretty artsy, bad green screen, but some decent mindfucks. For $7 and 2.5 hours, I left very pleased.

[Rec] 2 - 4/5 - Its very hard to make a sequel that will be better than the original. I adored REC, it was then and still is today my favorite handycam horror film. Rec 2 begins directly after the first film. The film starts off by giving you a bunch of answers to the questions left by the first film. Rec 2 has some cool PIP moments but thats about the only new thing in the film. It pushes the story along while you follow a team of SWAT members escorting a Health inspector through the building.

Early on there are some real roller coaster moments, tension builds for a scare that isn't there, jumpscares left and right. Sadly the pace of the film slows down quite a bit during the second act where you follow another group. The second group just felt like padding to the film and really doesn't add much to the main story. Overall the film is pretty solid. You get some good action scenes, the scares are there, story is interesting, some humorous gore moments, blood all over the place. Rec 2 is definitely worth a view for fans of the first film & of the genre.
