Surprisingly The Last Movie You Saw Didn't Suck Pt. 2

Finally watched Paranormal Activity in what I consider to be the right environment for a movie like this (by myself, alone, after midnight, darkened room) and for what it's worth I really enjoyed it. Have I seen better and scarier movies? Of course. However, I'm glad I waited WELL after the hype from this had settled down so I could just watch it. Plus, going into it, I had accidentally found out about the bootleg ending where
the cops kill Katie, or whatever that business is
and so I thought that's what the alternate ending was. However, what I got
where Katie kills Micah downstairs then slits her throat in front of the camera
surprised the HELL out of me and I think made me like it more. Endings like that make horror movies better for me.

You got the hard to find ending.

From Paris with love - nice shoot em up. Lots of bullets entering lots of heads. This is how I like John travolta.

Public Enemies - A neat movie that had had a very film noir vibe going on. Nothing spectacular as the plot and story goes but a few standout great scenes with some awesome gangster shootouts. A great rental even though the Blu-Ray was very dark.

^ I read your post fast and thought you wrote Police Academy. Then I realized you didn't and a little part of me died inside.
What do you mean? there were several alternative endings?
Yes....

The hard to find ending is the one where she slits her throat after killing the dude downstairs (only shown once at the film festivals i think)

The film festival (original) ending that was shown is the one where she kills the guy and then walks upstairs and waits around till the police come and then the police end up killing her

The theatrical ending is the ending where she throws the guy at the camera and then she smells the dude and lunges at the camera (which is dumb because the lunge is purely a scare tactic for the audience).

Alice In Wonderland In 3D!!!!

Didn't know it was some kind of sequel. Not too bad I guess but I did almost fall asleep towards the end.

Alice in Wonderland

Movie truly was a treat. Very enjoyable. Could have done without the 3d, but the story was well done, the graphics beyond my expectations, and I LOVED that it wasn't just a retelling of everything we have already seen.

I should add it had a Tron Legacy trailer. I was very impressed with that. Can't wait. Hoping Tron sees a blu release before then.

dead snow - loved this movie.
this is basically about a couple people against nazi zombies.
on netflix instant in HD. its in scandinavian with english subs.

Just watched that last night as well. One of my new favorite zombie movies. Also watched La Jetee (also on instant watch). Huge influence on Twelve Monkeys, and really striking visuals, being made up of still images only.

The Informant! - 3/5 - The story is told in a way where it keeps you interested but sadly the story isn't that great overall to make this film a must see. There is some good clever remarks or narration done by Matt Damon that had me smirk/smile a bit but not a great comedy. You get some solid acting across the board with Scott Bakula and some funny situations that Matt Damons gets into but overall a movie that can be missed.
Precious - Well.........that was fairly emotionally devastating.
This.

Alice In Wonderland 3D - It was all right. Great performances, but Burton uses shiny images do distract people from realizing the plot is as straightforward and cliched as it gets. Which is a shame, because Alice's Adventure in Wonderland by Lewis Carrol is anything but that.

A Single Man - Beautifully shot, wonderfully acted, but completely empty.

An Education - One of the best films this year.

The Hurt Locker - Sure it was good, but not nearly as amazing as people make it out to be. I can't help but think people are only praising it because it's a current event. I bet you if a studio made a movie about a family living in Haiti during the earthquake it would win every award possible.and people would praise it for being the best movie of the last 5 years.

I know there is still some engagement in Iraq right now but The Hurt Locker takes place in Baghdad six years ago. A better comparison would be a movie about Hurricane Katrina or another event that happened five plus years ago, not exactly old news but far from a current event. If you don't know the difference of the war in Baghdad in 2004 from the war in Baghdad in 2010 then you need to catch up on some current events. (Not to make this political because that is the last thing I want to do but part of the reason I loved The Hurt Locker so much was because it wasn't political at all. It wasn't a right nor left movie but a story about some ordinary soldiers that were put in extraordinary positions.)

Trucker. Its a flick about a chick who drives trucks and one day her son is dropped off by his dad's girlfriend and has to stay with her for a few weeks. theres more to it than that but i dont want to ruin it for anyone who may want to see it. definelty a good movie.

Up In The Air - meh...some good parts...liked Vera's ass, didnt like that it was a body double.....decent stuff....the American Airlines crap felt SOOO forced (I work for them)

OMG this movie was not good. Nathan Fillon not likable. How the heck did that happen? I even liked his character in Waitress...

The 9/11 movies did poorly and 2012 is a pile of shit.
Leaves Of Grass - Ed Norton did a great job as both main characters. Really enjoyed this movie.
I enjoyed it as well. The story reminded me of a greek play where half way through the shit hits the fan. O

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs - Surprisingly funny, and I can't really find a bad thing to say about the movie.

Beauty Shop - Certainly not the worst movie I've seen, although the ending just...happens.
Why the hell do people call movies films for any other reason than being pretentious?
No reason. It's like when people refer to a movie by it's foreign name even though it has a different name here in the states.

It's just to be cool.

Black Dynamite - I read a bunch of stuff about it dragging on too long and the ending being terrible, but I thought it was hilarious and fantastic

Total Recall

It's amazing how after becoming an "adult" stuff makes more sense. I understand this movie that much more than the last time I saw it. It pains me that I've watched our Governator though... ugh

Public Enemies - it was decent...I liked Depp but Christian Bales' character seemed forced although after reading about it he modeled his mannerisms and voice just like the real guy...it dragged a little but wasnt bad...i like the way the anna chick from Big Love plays a foreign chick named anna in this movie

Up in the Air was outstanding. Clooney and 2 female leads had me thinking ladies only but I really enjoyed it. It is a rare film in that it really brings genuine humor and drama. I never thought Clooney was all that great of an actor but in this he really showed range. It didn't hurt that Vera Famiga looked good too.

you really thought it was that good? 6.5/10 for me ..... good film but nothing special...also, Vera used a body double on the naked scene...other than that she did look great

The Invention of Lying - I just couldn't get into it. It was slow and awkward with very few laughs. I really like Ricky Gervais but this movie was a disaster. I can't believe how a movie with so many great cameos could be this bad.

I watched a bunch of stuff this last week so here is my list and opinions.

Universal Solider: Regeneration-- 2/10 Terrible movie, enough said.
Black Dynamite-- 9/10 By far and away the most funny movie I have seen in a long time. I highly recommend this movie.
2012-- 6/10 Not too horrible but lasted about 45 minutes longer than it needed too.
Where the Wild Things Are-- 7/10
Carriers-- 8/10 Very good movie. Fairly predictable but also some very sad parts to it.
Boondock Saints 2-- 2/10 Terrible sequel. If you like the first movie all I can say is do not see this piece of crap.
Eden Log-- 6/10 I liked it but I'm still not even sure what was going on. The movie seemed to be too dark to me, I couldn't tell what was going on a lot of the time.
Possession-- 1/10 My wife and I couldn't even finish watching this piece of crap.
The Crazies-- 7/10 I liked this movie a lot more than I thought I would. Its just basically 28 Days/Weeks Later set in Iowa though.
Alice in Wonderland 3D-- 8/10 I really enjoyed this movie. It was my first movie in 3D and I have to say it seemed to be worth the extra money.

*headdesk headdesk headdesk*

Does nobody understand this is a remake of an old Romero film?

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0069895/

1973. It has some time on the 28 series

I actually refer to movies as movies normally, and I refer to porn as films. It makes it sounds classier.

Good question: Why the fuck did I watch Starship Troopers with my roommate last night?

Better question: Why the fuck does my roommate own Starship Troopers?

Because Starship Troopers (1) is a goddamn awesome movie. It can come on at 3 AM, and I won't go to bed until 5 AM because of it. It's good in that campy way.

Would knowing that it is a remake change his impression of the movie? Nope.

I just watched Inglourious Basterds and have no interest in watching the earlier version.

By the way, Starship Troopers is pretty fucking awesome if you don't take it too seriously.

Well, you can't have interest in something that doesn't exist.
There's a movie called Inglorious Bastards, but Taratino's movie only takes the title. The movies are completely different.

500 Days of Summer - I was about ready to slaughter a child until the ending. Overall, a good movie, but seriously, I just about hated it.

Also, if you don't luck Starship Troopers, GET THE fuck OUT!!!!!

Duel to the Death - 4/5 - This is one of the many films that Tarantino supposedly got inspiration from for Kill Bill. The best fighter from China vs the best fighter from Japan in an ancient duel. There are ninjas that jump out of the sand, ninjas on kites, 25' tall ninja that blows up into 8 normal-sized ninjas. There are many scenes where you get either the japanese samurai taking out enemies or the shaolin warrior fighting ninjas. It is hard not to be entertained by this movie.

There are moments where u will laugh at the film due to wires being visible during a fight or the extremely rediculous premise of having ninja's ambush a man at night by hanging on to some sorta kites. Duel to the Death is just a lot of fun. The action scenes are top notch with lots of exploding ninjas near the end of the film & the story is pretty decent. Overall this movie is a must see for fans of kungfu movies.
