Tales from the Pawn Shop(s)!
Just bumping this to point out for my own humor what a difference a sequel and a few months can make.
SON OF A BITCH!!! I had one of those in my TL for the longest time and I let it go for $4-5 shipped, since I figured it would be virtually worthless without the game to go with it.
DS Trauma Center Complete - $8
DS Phoenix Wright Justic For All Complete - $8
XBX Air Force Delta Storm Complete - $4
was that at the one right by me? They have all 3 of those for those prices.

Today I had a semi-decent pick-up (the first one in ages): I scored Mario 64, Mario Party, Gameshark 2.1 (all carts only), PS1 Jeopardy complete and a complete non-GH GTA:SA on PS2 all for $15. I was happy.
Valkyrie Profile 2 - $8.00
Pikmin 1 & 2 - $10.00 each.
Metal Gear Solid - Twin Snakes guide - $5.00

:)
Wanna sell one of those Pikmins? :)

Also is there an age restriction at pawn shops?

If you want to sell things to them you have to be 18 but if you want to buy things there's no restrictions.

I got kicked out of my local pawn shop b/c i had to be 18 to apparently even enter the store :bomb:
I got kicked out of my local pawn shop b/c i had to be 18 to apparently even enter the store :bomb:
Really? I'm 14 and have bought alot of stuff from pawns...

are you sure it was a pawn shop?
are you sure it was a pawn shop?
Yeah. Made no sense b/c i went in there with a friend and bought a couple of dvd's for cheap

I'm under 18 and I almost sold something at a pawn shop once. They weren't going to give me enough, so I opted out, but they didn't ask for ID or anything and I don't really look over 18. This wasn't a shady pawn shop either, it was part of a chain.

Same here, they always ask me to leave but then they see my Dad behind me and then say nothing

I never knew Pawn shops sold anything other than jewelry and junk - I had no idea they even sold video games o__O *looks up local pawn shop in Yellow Pages* I hope I'm lucky enough to find some rare games in one T_T

I went by 2 today, arrived at 6 and one closed at 6 the other at 5:30. Argghhh! With the way my luck has been going for local deals, they won't have anything, or if they do it'll be outrageously priced.

I went into some local trade store today and saw Resistance and other games used for like $54. I said "you know these games are going for $30 now GH?" He didn't believe me until he checked online, and the people who were thinking of buying these games just walked out. I wouldn't have said that, but the guy was a huge dick to me and other customers.

Well went to 2 pawns and a thrift store. All I found were greatest hits/platinum games for like $40 for next-gen. I did see a great deal of a casio keyboard (w/o adapter) for $150. Needless to say I rolled my eyes as I walked out of there.

Its been a while since I checked my local pawn shop, but I think I'll take a look today. Last time I went, they told gave me some quotes on games, but the next they told me they were 15 more. One more chance I suppose.

So, i was wondering, do the pawn shops around you guys pull new merchandise every day? Just wondering because the two pawn shops that I've worked at have had different pull dates. At my old job, we only pulled items on Mondays, but at the current shop that I work at, we pull new items daily.

For those not in the know, in most states you have 90 days to redeem any item put in pawn, once that 90 days is up, we can "pull" the item and put it out for sale.

And here's a little tip for you guys, if you're looking to beat the competition to the best stuff, ask the pawn shop guys if they have any games on the "pull list," most smaller shops will actually look in their system and see if they have any loans that are eligible to be pulled and you might be able to score some good stuff before anyone else can even look at it. Most bigger stores like EZ-Pawn won't be able to do this for you because their pawn system is set up differently, but if you frequent a smaller shop, ask them if they run Pawndex (the most widely used Pawn Software) and they should be able to search for you fairly easily.

Locoroco (complete)-$10
FFVI (cart only)-$4

The total was supposed to be $15 but I was short $1 & the girl said whatever. Sweet. I figure I can sell FFVI & recoup my losses

That's not the way they do it around here. Once you sell something to the 'pawn', that's it, it's gone forever and you'd have to pay their asking price on the shelf to get it back. I really wish one of the actual chains would open a couple stores around here, to give the local yokels some real competition, since the only people they have to try and beat on prices for used games is Gamestop or FYE. Otherwise suckers(me at one time) will buy their garbage for whatever price it's marked as.

^ there are some pawns around Tampa like that (Value & Capital Pawns) that price everything 10% lower than GS. You would think that after having the same games sit there for 6 months to a year, they would get the hint, but no.

Saw VF5 (360) yesterday for $20, and the guy offered it to me for $15 but when I looked at the disc, it had a damn ring of scratches all the way around it >.

Mario Power Tennis (no manual)-$10
Mario Baseball (no man)-$10
Dragonball Z: Burst Limit (with bonus disc, 360)-$15
Monopoly Party (PS2)-$6

DBZ is being sold to a friend, the rest are going to the "trade 5 or more, get extra 40% at GS" deal since I can get at least 1.5x what I paid.

Got a nice Toshiba Satellite Laptop 1.6 ghz core 2 duo, 1 GB ram, DVD-RW Drive, 80GB HD, 17" screen for $50 last friday, sure I had to order a power supply for it ($25 on ebay), and clean it up a bit, but still $75 for a 2006 laptop, not too shabby especially since my sister's starting college this week and really needed a laptop.

Nothing big in O-Town this week, from the pawn I got
Fatal Frame 2 PS2 Comp - $7
Matrix Path of Neo XBX Comp - $3
Jade Cocoon 2 Comp PS2 - $3
From PNT
Punisher NES Cart Only - $3
Inido Way of the Ninja SNES Cart Only - $6.30

I declined on a Zelda Collectors Edition ($10, missing manual, disc scratched), 2 copies of God of War 2 for $5, and a $5 XBX Fatal Frame 2 DC. The pawns were pretty dry, a lot of cheap last gen games, but nothing eye catching.

Short story: I traded Eragon (360) and Greek (Dvd season) for Bangai-O (Dreamcast, complete) and Midway Arcade Hits 2 (Dreamcast, complete)

Long story:
I went to an old pawn shop that went out of business and re-opened under new management recently and looked through the games. I found a few games and asked the guy there the prices. He said something about how he checked ebay for how much they were worth, and I thought about leaving then. A lot of the games were fairly overpriced, things like zombies at my neighbors for the snes for $16 and smash bros for the N64 for $30. I decided to look at the dreamcast games since most are dirt cheap now, so he opened the case so i could dig around. The first thing I saw was sword of the berzerk, but it was marked $40. Ugh. I kept looking, however, and found a copy of Bangai-O, complete! I asked him, expecting to hear something like $60, but he looked at it and told me i could have it for $10. :D I kept looking and found Midway Arcade Hits 2 (not too valuable, but digitpress says only around 5,000 were made.) He quoted me $15. I had a copy of eragon in the car and asked how much he'd pay for it. He asked if i could bring it in. I got that and my copy of Greek. He asked me what i wanted for them, and i asked if i could trade them for the dreamcast games i picked out. He agreed.

Stopped in 2 pawns today & got these:

Gears of War-$10
Dark Messiah-$10
Frontlines-$10
Halo 3-$10
Blacksite-$10
LEGO Indiana Jones (Wii)-$15
Crash Bandicoot Warped-$1 (when I opened it, I also found the disc for Crash 2)

Traded Gears, Halo, Frontlines, Blacksite, & NCAA MArch Madness 08 (from GS) to Blockbuster for Wii Fit.

You have magically delicious pawns.

^ It's funny cuz this chain of pawns if freakin retarded. There are 5 in my area, and 2 of them watch GS for last & current gen games & Ebay for PS1 games. Only 1 of them actually has set prices. One of them prices their games at whatever they want (for example, I found DBZ Burst Limit for $15 whereas DMC4 was $30). The 3 that watch GS have prices like DMC4 for $40, DMC4 CE for $50, Zelda: TP for $40, etc.

I went back to the one from yesterday & snagged another GoW to trade. They still have C&C3: TW & MLB2K8, but idk if they're worth it.

OK, so my goal for pawn shops in the next year is to find all the remaining Ps1 RPGs that I haven't found yet at a pawn or flea market. I've made this list of what I haven't found yet & I will cross off what I do find as they come along.

~Vandal Hearts 2
~Suikoden
~Suikoden 2
~Persona: Revelations
~Persona 2
~Parasite Eve 2
~Final Fantasy Anthology (I have found 5 FFVIIs, 3 FFVIIIs, 3 FFIX's, 2 FFChronicles, but no Anthology)
~Arc The Lad Collection
~Breath Of Fire 3
~Breath of Fire 4
~Dragon Warrior VII
~Grandia
~Lunar: SSS
~Lunar: Eternal Blue
~Tales of Destiny
~Tales of Destiny 2
~RPG Maker
~Tactics Ogre
~Wild Arms

So ya, there's my goal for next year. I do have a few others besides Ps1 games (Earthbound, Chrono Trigger, Clock Tower 2). Good luck to everyone!

Man, that's quite the collection to find. Good luck! PS1 games are almost nonexistant at ever single one of my pawn shops otherwise I'd love to help you out. :)

I think some of you who sent me PMs missed my point. I don't keep any of the Ps1 RPGs I find (except FFs & Valkyire Profile). I just wanna see if I can actually find all of these games. I will then trade them for other stuff (hopefully SEGA RPGs).

Why not just pick up items that trade for alot on Goozex? Thats how I've built up my psx rpg collection on the cheap.
Why not just pick up items that trade for alot on Goozex? Thats how I've built up my psx rpg collection on the cheap.
Because there's alot of stuff on Goozex that are "unbuyable." Look at the queue for Valkyrie Profile and Suikoden II.

I'd say, judging by this post...

That he just likes the thrill of finding the game in the wild.

By the way, don't ask certain people to go with you to the pawn shop. My mom thought I said porn shop and looked at me weird for a few days :p. I scored Tales of Symphonia and Shadow Hearts: Covenant for 5 bucks at pop at my local one. Take care :)
