Tales of Graces F USA release confirmed

I don't think the costs are what's prohibiting the localizations. I think they had higher ambitions than niche JRPG's could provide them, but the profits didn't come rolling in from Enslaved, Majin, and Splatterhouse like they had planned. They also saw the success Demon's Souls had, so they're going to try and capture some of that success with localizing Dark Souls and a couple of Tales games.

Took them long enough. I'm happy! :bouncy:

Graces F was only for PS3 in Japan, so...

Apparently the Wii version might be coming as well. Why would they release vanilla Graces here?
So is Graces supposed to be good?
It is the highest rated Tales game by Famitsu. Not that reviews mean anything to some people but it seems like most people liked it.
Hopefully a Wii version to...

Yay Vesperia stays exclusive in the US *double birds* yay!
Maybe, maybe not. Tales of Vesperia was the last distorted image to appear on the site, I'd imagine it'd be the last game they announced.

If not, oh well, still ecstatic about Graces F.

"I want the lesser versions of both games because I only care about the consoles I own"

I hope you are wrong on both counts.
Awww... but Vesperia was all I really wanted :(
Same.

Graces is cool, I guess, except it looks hyper weeaboo, more than any other Tales game. No small feat. Plus the entire game is pastel colors.

Vesperia PS3 plz.

Apparently the extra PS3 content was created with the Wii version and then ported. So it's possible they'd release both. But I'm not counting on it. But if it was, I'd buy the Wii version.
There's no way that the warped image from Day 6 did not contain the ToV logo. There is a definite cover up amiss!
Yeah, there was definitely a Vesperia logo in there.

We got trolled. Denying that it was the Vesperia logo was a total dick move.

Oh well I am in for Graces F on launch day. Hope everyone else buys it too so we can get Xillia here. :D

He should just apologize. We're not stupid. Treating your fans like idiots is bad for business.

I'm going to get Graces though, because I enjoy the Tales series.

Yeah, we know. While it would have been nice if Vesperia released in the PS3 in the US, it's not that big of a deal to me. I'll buy Graces in the hopes that Xillia releases here and any other old ones we never received (Tales of Destiny 2 / Rebirth / Hearts / Innocence).

Hearts is the best DS one from what I hear, but it's the only one I listed that I haven't played. I've played through some of Innocence but haven't completed it. However Destiny 2 is actually pretty good and a lot of people who import Rebirth seem to really like it and its battle system. Though I'm not really fond of it myself.

Since Rebirth and Destiny 2 were both brought out on the PSP, one can always hope.

so you call graces weeaboo and pastel

yet you want vesperia ps3 with a moe pirate and pastel hair

It's weird how in the 90's Japanese stuff was cool and now Japanese games can be too Japanese.

Game fans are the craziest people in the world.

It's because the demographic that plays games is more varied now, there are a lot of people who mainly play COD and Madden and they make up a large portion of people who buy the most popular games and many of them could care less about Japanese RPGs, it also doesn't help that Japan is now looking to the West for ideas because our games outperform theirs.

In contrast, back in the 90's the demographic that played games was composed more of what at that time were considered "hardcore" gamers which typically meant you were a bit of a nerd.

Yeah, gaming has gone mainstream now. It is no longer a niche hobby only for nerds and kids. It isn't surprising that quirky Japanese games don't sell that well without any kind of marketing push. They just aren't seen as the "cool" thing to buy.
I mean half the top selling games are painted with a palette of shit brown and people are complaining about pastel colors?
This. Soooo much this.
Apparently the Wii version might be coming as well. Why would they release vanilla Graces here?
I don't care, but since I don't have a PS3, I hope that's true (though I'm not hoping too much... this is the Tales series, after all :p). Hell, maybe they'll be awesome and include at least some of the bonus content from the PS3 version.
If I buy an import version of Tales of Vesperia for the PS3 does it have english subs or anything to hlep me get through?
No.
"I want the lesser versions of both games because I only care about the consoles I own"
Of course. Do you even read NPD sales? PS3 fans in the US are obivously a minority. The last Tales Wii game actually sold decently to, I think if they are to include the PS3 version it would be wise of Namco to put the Wii version over as well. Then again this is Namco we are talking about who outside of Naruto games have had some pretty big flops this holiday season sales wise.

I'm all for them putting out both versions... I get annoyed when people root for exclusivity.

I want everyone to get their Tales games. Wii fans, 360 fans and PS3 fans. However if we're going to get one version of a game, I'd like it to be the best one.
However if we're going to get one version of a game, I'd like it to be the best one.
If we waited on every game for their 'best version' we'd be waiting years after the initial japanese release. No thanks. Japan is too crazy about adding some additional content to games, remaking them or doing a directors cut.

Though if we had to choose between two that were currently out at the time the game is releasing here, then yes, go for the one with better graphics and more content. Nobody likes to really get gimped when they have a choice, but Wii users who don't have a PS3 will be getting gimped here anyways. However with a translation already done, I could see them releasing it at some point. Except for the little fact that Namco Bandai are assholes.

Great news for PS3 owners, I only have a 360 and a Wii so I'm hoping they decide to localize the Wii version of Graces and/or Xillia.

It completely sucks that they teased Vesperia but aren't going to release the PS3 version here, it's an awesome game that everyone should get a chance to play!

Well, moe loli pirates are so hot. And Graces looks like it could be called Ar Tonelico 3.

I'll still pick it up, probably. . .

I'll probably pick it up. I'm a sucker for JRPGs, especially on the PS3.

Edit: Hold on a moment... They haven't officially announced what platform(s) it'll be on.

Graces F was the PS3 port.

But they haven't announced what platforms. Speculation is that the PS3 gets F while the Wii version gets the second-run, non buggy version which came out like 2 months after the original. That's mainly because Namco sucks.

Ah, didn't know they re-released the Wii version. Knowing Namco, they'll release it on just one platform.

It would be cool if they "back-ported" some of the extra PS3 content to the Wii version. Assuming there even is a Wii version.

Yeah, the original Wii version was a buggy POS, so they recalled the game and re-released it 2 months later...during the same week Final Fantasy XIII came out.

It would be nice if the extra content came out on Wii since they created that on Wii for the PS3 port.
