Tampa Bay Area CAGs...

CAGiversary!
How about a thread for those in the Tampa Bay area. Should save looking through massive amounts of threads when you want to pick up a quick game in the Tampa Bay area.

Deals I've found

Polarium 7.48 (10 or so copies left) at the Target at Dale Mabry and 275

Meteos 7.48 (piles, more than 15 left) at the Target at Dale Mabry and Ehrlich/Bearss

In case anyone wants some "free" rz certificates. Best buy on Dale Mabry has plenty of the Movie Gift cards with the "Buy 2 $14.99 or higher dvds and get 6,000 reward zone points" coupons. The 6,000 reward points equals $120 in RZ certificates (well worth the $30 spent). It says one coupon per household, but you can always just make another RZ account with a neighbor's address (if you choose to get RZ certs by email the physical address only matters for 10-12% off coupons).

They also had plenty of the original GGC's with the $5 off $19.99. Both coupons expire 6/30, so hurry people!

The N64 games were from New Port Richey Salvation Army. I always pass up tons of deals when I do this due to shortage of cash. I could have had a HUGE New Wii game score on the cheap that I couldnt afford.

Well, I'm leaving Tampa Bay for good tomorrow.

This area has been awesome for deals, definitely, so I'll miss it :(

I want to leave someone with an awesome deal before I go, sad I didn't take advantage of it myself -

TRU in Saint Petersburg has a copy of Lumines 1 for PSP for $13 - this is selling on Ebay right now for at least $50, last I checked, so some entrepeneur can scoop this up.

They also have TONS of Lumines 2 for $9.98, as well as Gunpey, Untold Legends and Death Jr. I managed to grab the very last Syphon Filter Dark Mirror - one last goodbye to an area full of awesome deals.

Good luck up there! I still think you're nuts for moving somewhere that cold. :cold:
On another note, has anyone seen Castlevania 64 in a pawn shop at all lately? Its the last Castlevania (non port, non arcade) that I need to complete the US release Castelvania collection. I already have Legacy of Darkness, however, from what I understand Castlevania 64 is actually a very slightly different game set 7 years later from LOD so I would technically need that to finish the collection. I will take a pic of them all after i acquire Castlevania 64.
I have both games (no duplicates, sorry) and LOD from my memory is basically an expansion pack sort of. The game is identical to the original except there a couple extra levels and two extra playable characters. Paying $60 bucks each back in the day had me pissed.

The one place I like to frequent is the flea market in oldsmar (forget the name). But it's on tampa Rd. There's a two or three VG shops in there as well as the typical random stuff you can find. I practically guarantee you could find almost anything you want there.

U talking about that one shop with the old guy & his wife & they have tons of games? Way too overpriced if u ask me. Genesis games r $10 w/ box & $5 cart only, no exceptions. And $45 for a SEGA CD is cazy.

Sure half of the stuff may be considered high (I think it's fairly reasonable) but it beats running all over the place every weekend just to find a great deal and ending up wasting even more money in gas. It's better than the internet because there's no waiting.

I'm just bummed in general that there are no retro shops around anymore. Funcoland used to be awesome and then Babbages/GameStop bought them out and they don't even exist anywhere. Some areas have retro shops and other areas just don't. I knoew of 3 places easily up north that sell all of this stuff and for super cheap.

Roufuss...
I don't mean to delve into your personal life, but whats waiting for you in NY? Any specific reason for the move?

Since Roufuss may not come back to this thread, I'll answer for him - he has said before that he's moving up there for college, though I don't know the school.

I live in Tampa and I have a bunch of crap on craigslist for sale because I don't feel like shipping anything at the moment. I'll be posting more stuff through out the week.

tampa.craigslist.org and do a search for "ninjaridebikes"

i'm in a hurry to get rid of the stuff so whoever can come and get it the fastest, can have it.

Hey guys, just thought i'd let you all know that Moviestop is doing a Buy 3 Get 1 Free used sale. Their selection of used Blu-Rays & HD-dvds is really good (they've apparently got a thief who sells them 'used' new released every wednesday). Most of the used ones are $17.99-$19.99, some of the more 'blockbuster' titles are $24.99.

Most pick them up randomly, a pawn shop that has historically not sold them will pick them up in a lot. You have to hit at the right time. A good example is that I got a cart only Super Mario All Stars and a cart only Mega Man X2 randomly at a pawn shop yesterday.

Ok, thanks! I usually stick to 3 pawn shops near my house. The closest one is very good on N64 games. I'm hoping to get Paper Mario or Clay FIghter 63 1/3 Sculptor's Cut there one day. They usually have 1 PS1 game like FFIX from time to time, so I guess it is very random

heh, it's wierd. I went into one of those pawn shops today and lo and behold they had SNES, NES, & Gen games. Nothing too exiting, tho. One of them had Samba De Amigo for DC but couldn't find the disc :bomb: I'm thinking of going back next weekend and getting someone else to look...

On a happier note, I did find GoW CE for $13, Smackdown vs Raw (360) for $8, and Need for Speed Carbon CE (360) for $10 :bouncy:

I had good luck with a few pawns today. I got
Complete
Project Gotham 3 360 - $5
Marvel vs Capcom 2 XBX - $5 (2nd time I got a copy of this game for this price at this pawn shop)

Cart Only
Secret of Mana SNES - $6

Decent day. 2 rares/hard to finds and a cheapy 360 game.

Segasonic, I take it you visit the EZ Pawn on Armenia/Sligh frequently. They get good games in but overprice usually. I sent Roufuss there a few times for games. EZ Pawn is probably the worst when it comes to losing discs, or having them stolen. Like your Samba which I think I saw at another EZ Pawn or Cash America.

Also, everyone be careful of the Goodwills as when you go to the Goodwill auctions webpage youll see Tampa Goodwills posting more and more in the game auctions section. This is not good for finding cheap finds at Goodwill.

Ya the one I go to the most is the Sligh/Armenia one cuz I can walk there in 10 mins. That's also where I found MvC2 for $6. The one that had Samba was the one on Nebraska, near Waters. Which one did you find the MvC2 & Secret of Mana at?

Oh, btw. I HATE Cash America. $20 firm for all 360, PSP, and DS games? Plz

Lucky with the Secret of Mana... I have the booklet I picked up at a Mom and Pop pawn shop over here but never have found the game.

I hit the shops randomly, 1x or 2x every 2 weeks. I work in South St. Pete, so if leave 15 minutes early, I can hit several pawn shops. SNES, Genesis and older are hit or miss, although I saw them at every pawn shop on Nebraska Ave today that I hit. That doesnt mean they'll be there tomorrow, as they're are quite a few ebayers who hit the shops for SNES games. When you go around the shops for awhile you'll start to spot them. I asked a guy one time if he was on CAG and he laughed at me.

Segasonic, that Cash America by you is outstanding, I found Gradius V there for $4, along with dreamcast games randomly. I think they had Rogue Galaxy (which has popped up everywhere the last month or so) for $6 last week.

It's been pretty hit or miss lately with the pawns. I don't have much reason to go now. Before my mom would come out and we'd go pawn shopping when I lived over there. But now that I'm back in Brandon I don't really head out to Tampa much.

Yeah, there have been a lot more days of "miss" than "hits", but I always manage to find something. Thrift stores, outside of goodwill, have been good to me lately.

Anyone in the Port Richey area half an hour outside of Tampa? I'll be visiting soon, was wondering if there's anything a CAG should know about (local YMMV deals, anyone looking to trade, etc)

Pawn shop finds were dry this week, did manage to get

Street Fighter Anniversary XBX Complete (for my roomate when I move out this week) - $10 - Is it me or is this game becoming incredibly hard to find
Kanye West Late Registration - $1
Jay-Z Kingdom Come Special Edition - $2
National Treasure DVD (FS) - $2
The Aristrocrats DVD (such a disappointing movie) - $2
and the best find of the week
Dark Alliance 2 Complete PS2 - $6

ALL BEWARE CIRCUIT CITY.

They advertised last week $300 instant gift card when you sign up for vonage.
They also advertised a laptop for $349.

I went in last sunday at 10 am, to speak to CHARLES who is in customer service, claimed their computers were down, come back in an hour.
They were suppose to put my laptop on hold.

Came back 2 hours later, their computers were working, but then no one could figure out how to do the vonage offer. An hour later, a call to corporate, a nice stroll around entire store looking for a manager, which they claimed they do not have, BRYAN the fire dog supervisor, could not figure it out which is what they claimed was a MANAGER. CHARLES gave me one of their $24 gift card for me having now wasted 2 trips and over and hour to get what they advertised. He took my name and said he would call me when they figured it out.

I waited until MONDAY 6PM for the call that never came, I was told they couldn't figure it out. and I would be called.

Waited till Wednesday, no call, I called and asked for BRYAN the so called MANAGER, he took my name and number claimed to call.

NOW its Saturday, I go back for my 3rd trip, BRYAN IS SUPPOSE to be working, no one can find him. Found a guy in a black shirt named FRANCISO aka FRANK, he is an actual MANAGER, he claims thats its VONAGE fault and not theirs. NOW he says he doesnt know what happened to the $349 LAPTOP that is suppose to be on hold for me, but says he will make a comparable LAPTOP even if it costs more, $349 for me.

I said thats great, but I need the $300 off to afford the laptop. He said he would offer his new deal for me sometime this week, after he found out what laptop it would be, since their INVENTORY COMPUTER just went down. He took my name and number and said he would call be by 8pm SATURDAY.

Guess what??? No call.

I just looked at circuit city new flyer, what do they have in it again? $300 INSTANT GIFT CARD, did I mention on Saturday they have a HUGE SIGN BY VONAGE OFFERING SAME CARD DEAL???
Also the same laptop that was $349 last week with no rebates, has jumped to $369, after $100 mail in rebate, and surprise, surpise at 3am, not a single store in Tampa Area has any in stock according to their websites. The stores are not open, so how do you not have any in stock already? Who wants to bet at 10 am when I get there, they claim the $300 instant gift card can not be rung up again? Who wants to bet FRANK doesn't honor his agreement?

Just got back from CC, they still don't have their VONAGE deal working, lame excuse why they didn't have the new laptop in stock at all. Claimed again their systems were down until 12 noon. Only bright spot, the Store Director FRANK informed Bryan to reserve me a $1000 laptop for $349, and when vonage works, I will be walking out with a $49 laptop that was $1000. I doubt they will ever have their Vonage deal working, wish I had $349 to just get it, I did get a $24 gift card the first sunday from Charles for the whole scam they were giving me. Only need $325 more dollars to avoid Vonage deal

Just in case anyone is looking. The Target at BBD has Elites with lot 0726 and BB has lot 0723 at the South Tampa and Citrus store. Still haven't seen any lot 0728 yet which are supposed to have the new heatsinks and 65mm chips.

Hell yes they are overpriced! They have a box of superfamicom loose carts that they want 45 to 60 EACH!! All these games I can get in near perfect condition on ebay for a fraction!

Finally got a Super Famicom and PC Engine Duo-R for cheap (considering what they are) on ebay. Anyone know any place in the area I can get games for these so I dont have to use ebay?

You are talking about Japan-only systems that are over 10 years old. Ebay is your best bet.

Light pawn shop day, found two decent games
GEN Cart Only Gunstar Heroes - $2
SNES Cart Only Yoshi's Island - $2

Both are second copies, I'm keeping the Yoshi's Island, but may use Gunstar heroes as trade fodder

If you do, CML for it.

Went to 6 pawns last weekend and all I got were BlLue Stinger complete, Golden Axe 2 complete, and the Square bonus disc to complete my Parasite Eve. Saw other games such as GH God of War for $4, and Silent Hill 4 (PS2) for $8 (which I regret not getting).

welcome to tampa. What area do you live in? Around here it seems that the only good deals are at pawn shops and yardsales, and that's if you're lucky.

Oh, and CML for some of you DC games

I'm going to UT as a freshman this year.

And which DC games are you interested in? Because my whole dreamcast lot is a small step away from being thrown up on eBay.
