Original Target Clearance Thread

Since the Target deals are usually of the "your mileage may vary" type, let's keep all the target clearance deals in this thread.

Here is a fairly easy way to check if your local Target has the games on clearance without making the store clerk unlock the display case and price-scan a bunch of games. Very often, games may be on sale, but will not be marked as such.

BigDirty came up with this nice time saver. Respect his cheap ass skills.

1) Check this thread for games that have been reported on clearance.

2) Go to www.half.com, http://bits.com/ or similar website and search for the game to locate its UPC code number. Its in the grey box underneath the box art graphic.

3) Go to http://upcdata.info/ , www.milk.com/barcode/ , or www.upcdatabase.com and enter the code so you can print out the UPC.

4) Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts and search for cheap ass deals!

FYI: "When a game's price ends with 8 cents, further reduction is possible, when it ends in 4 cents, that's the ball game, pick it up cause it's not going any lower. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." - BigDirty

Games that do not sell after being discounted are often donated to local Goodwills for sale at their retail stores, so check there when the clearance items dissappear.

This thread is for Clearance deals, not sale items or raincheck "scams"
Please Post City, State and Store (If City has many stores), game, system and price

Keep extraneous discussion to a minimum, as posts not pretating to clearance deals may be deleted by the mod crew.

As always-- YMMV

Example:

Philadelphia, PA Snyder Plaza
BigDirty's Wild Ride, XBox, $4.98

*Thanks to CheapyD and BigDirty for the info*

wtf...is that porn?

The new Target electronics sections have eliminated all deals for me. I haven't found anything except for Maddens...that I haven't even bothered looking the past few times that I have gone to Target. The gig is up around me.

Most of the clearance games won't be out of the cases since they did the reset, just keep checking back. Oddly, they set some clearance stickers today instead of Monday like normal. Don't totally quote me on the prices, but most should be close.

DS
Feel the Magic, Sprung and Zoo Keeper - all either 20.98 or 14.98

PSP
Ridge Racer, Tiger Woods (last year's), Gretzky NHL, NBA, and Lumines - I believe all were marked down to 27.98

Some other various console games dropped too, although I don't remember the prices. I know the first Xbox Splinter Cell, MoH: Rising Sun PS2, and PS2 Punisher were all on the list to get dropped. Found all these at the Meriden, CT Target.

Target clearance deals are going way of the dodo. More stores are setting up with dual-isled glass cases and no clearance items. I've been to four Targets in three states and can't fina anything lately.

Even worse, now the PC game section has been revamped somewhat. Not as extreme, but they just cleared out a bunch of the older games, whether clearanced or not. So a much more compact presentation, new banners on the top of the aisle. Magazines extended all the way across the other side of the aisle where the budget games used to be. Few clearance items on the endcaps still (Half Life 2 for $38.48, Splinter Cell 2-pack for $7.48), but that's about it.

Here's what I saw at the one in Scranton PA yesterday...

PSP games

Lumines
Tiger Woods 2005
a couple more sports

all 15 and some change

Dead To Rightd was listed as 22 and some change

DS GAMES

Feel The Magic - 13 and some change

PS2 GAMES

Some last years sports titles - unsure of price

GCN GAMES

Ninja Turtles: Battle Nexus - 8 and some change

XBOX GAMES

I think last years NBA title was on clearance.

EDIT

Street Fighter ANN COllection - 13 and some change for PS2

That's how its been for me for a very long time. I at first thought that it was another CAG grabbing the deals, which would have been fine, but it went on for such an extended period of time, even when I went on regular basis that I came to the conclusion that it couldn't be. Yaeh, Target's clearance deals have been dead for me for a long time.

Since most Targets around me are new or have been redone, this is how its been.

I finally found the clearance section! It was at the end of one aisle. Only one I thought was good was the Yu-Gi-Oh! PC game, which was 4.98.

But Target has a I Love the 80's Board Game. So I snatched that up and bought MD. I'm such no help.

I'm kicking myself now because I never thought to price-scan the unmarked games left loose in the end of the aisle, for years.. So many fine games I could have had for almost nothing.. I'm going today to see if there's still a copy of La Pucelle I can get cheap.

Stopped by the Huber Heights, OH store. Only saw PC games on clearance. ($46.72 for HL2? No thanks.) They do have some 2-pack PS2 games for $19.99 and $14.99. Nothing too good that I could remember but it might make good trade fodder.

Picked up today a pc game. I had hid a copy of Neverwinter Nights Platinum DVD edition. I went to go and check the price of it today and it was no longer in the system. I decided to get it for $9.98, which is what it rang up as. It probably wasn't going to go down an further.

I'm also waiting for this half life bundle pack to go down from $13.98. It also looks like I missed my chance to get a 2.5 gig Rio CE they had there for around $70. I guess I'll check goodwill for that one.

There is a wave of clearance's going on...

Saw quite a few $20 down to $14....

I personally picked up Narc for $2.50, and GTA PC collection for 1.50 or something low like that.

One woman came in, asked for two x-boxes, and when she saw they rang up at the old price (original...$179 or whatever they are), said she didn't want them...so there might be something afoot on old x-boxes....

Deals usually go away for November / December... they will start up again Mid-January after inventory is finished. They need the end caps for full priced merchandise / Christmas goods...

So, there is no real reason for a CAG to enter a Target in the next 2 months?

There are a lot of PSP and some DS games on clearance now, if your Target still has them.

$10 DS:
Zoo Keeper
Feel the Magic

$15 PSP:
Darkstalkers
Rengoku
Mercury
Gretzky
Dynasty Warriors

I think MLB, Soccer(?), and NBA are $20.

only reason is black friday! i hope...

Are the clearanced DS / PSP games in the clearance sections, or locked up in a case? You think that people would just steal them straight up, since the cases are generally alot smaller.

Queens doesn't have anything on clearance and they did update the videogame section with that open glass display with the budget titles in it. Mount Vernon looks like they might follow suit. They have not had anything good in months. I thinks the cat is out of the bag. I know people who only go to Target for clearance items. They won't buy anything full price or even on sale. It has to be clearance!!! Kind of feel bad cause I like Target... Never had a bad experience !!!

One Target I went to had them in the case and they weren't tagged yet(still rang up w/ clearance prices). Another Target had them in the electronics clearance section already.
not if you note the DCPI number on the price tag and input it into one of the price scanners.
Good call, I haven't noticed if my store has those input scanners yet though.
Few clearance items on the endcaps still (Half Life 2 for $38.48, Splinter Cell 2-pack for $7.48), but that's about it.
A few weeks ago, my local Target had the Splinter Cell 2-pack also, but for $14.98. I decided to pass on it since I have 17 unplayed games sitting on my shelf, but if it had been priced at $7.48, I would've picked it up anyway.

In the distant past, I've picked up some great deals on Target clearance, such as Deus Ex 2 for PC ($9.98) and PoP: Sands of Time for PC (also $9.98), but the pickings have been mighty slim over the past three months.

One of my targets had Jungle Beat (no bongos) for 19 or so (it was 1/2 off, don't remember the price exactly). They also had a slew of PSP games (all mentioned before: Lumines, etc) and some random DS games (also mentioned before: Zoo Keeper, etc)

Nothing really new. Didn't see Jungle Beat listed though.

Now I have even more reason to hit the end of the aisle at my particular Target. They used to use that space solely for storing their massive amounts of PH, GH, etc. games for $19.99 but they expanded that a month ago by adding another "end of the aisle" area that they just dumped other cheap games in, with some odd exceptions. I never bothered checking the prices on those "odd" games (Xenosaga II, Lumines) because I didn't think they would be discounted but...guess I have to check!

I just wish my local Target would put in those scanners. It would make things a hell of a lot easier since they are of the opinion that marking the prices on items is a silly, outdated notion. Man, it's just so much more thrilling to just grab what you need and then pray that you can afford it up front! :D

Of the $14.98 games the local target only had 1 gretsky/ 1 mercury left. They had several of the original sports titles released at $20.98. Renogoku was still $20.98 at the store I visited. Lumines was only $27.98. They also had some price markdown and temporary price cuts on some PSP games (ATV,spiderman 2, etc.) for $29-32. If anyone finds a extra dynasty warriors let me know...

Akron, OH (Chapel Hill) store had about 25 PSP games at 50% sitting on an endcap by the shampoo & stuff. Also had a few copies of Feel the Magic and Zoo Keeper.

The Target in Exton, PA has a bunch of PC, PS2 and Xbox games on the cheap. I picked up War of the Ring for $4.98, Robotech Battlecry for 6.98 and Yu Suzuki's OutRun for 13.98. Didn't see the PSP games that were 50% off.
Just picked up Sprung for the DS for $9.96 at the Coon Rapids, MN (Northtown) Target Greatland. :D
You overpaid by about 9 bucks.

I paid 30 for that hunk of crap. :/

Has anyone else seen City of Heroes clearanced still? I can't find it around here, and would be willing to buy it off of someone if they found it cheap.

Ah, an interactive electronic romance novel gets no respect these days. That's the problem with today's youth; nobody wants to read anymore.
