Original Target Clearance Thread

Since the Target deals are usually of the "your mileage may vary" type, let's keep all the target clearance deals in this thread.

Here is a fairly easy way to check if your local Target has the games on clearance without making the store clerk unlock the display case and price-scan a bunch of games. Very often, games may be on sale, but will not be marked as such.

BigDirty came up with this nice time saver. Respect his cheap ass skills.

1) Check this thread for games that have been reported on clearance.

2) Go to www.half.com, http://bits.com/ or similar website and search for the game to locate its UPC code number. Its in the grey box underneath the box art graphic.

3) Go to www.schworak.com/upc/ , www.milk.com/barcode/ , or www.upcdatabase.com and enter the code so you can print out the UPC.

4) Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts and search for cheap ass deals!

FYI: "When a game's price ends with 8 cents, further reduction is possible, when it ends in 4 cents, that's the ball game, pick it up cause it's not going any lower. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." - BigDirty

This thread is for Clearance deals, not sale items or raincheck "scams"
Please Post City, State and Store (If City has many stores), game, system and price

Keep extraneous discussion to a minimum, as posts not pretating to clearance deals may be deleted by the mod crew.

As always-- YMMV

Example:

Philadelphia, PA Snyder Plaza
BigDirty's Wild Ride, XBox, $4.98

*Thanks to CheapyD and BigDirty for the info*

Ive noticed that the older target, rather then the more contemparary target, had alot better deals. Nothing you havent heard yet though.

Unfortunately both near me are fairly new. But the double-decker Target is the better one. Hell, forget the clearance. Shopping cart escalators crack me up.

this monday should be a good day for clearance, assuming they drop all the stuff from last week another notch percentage-wise(I'm guessing half of whatever it's at now). I'm gonna keep an eye out for wavebirds, bongos and third pary controllers.

today I saw
[$20.9X] GCN Wario Ware
[$20.9X] GBA Yoshi's Island
[$20.9X] GCN Custom Robo

they had a bunch of other tech-y stuff on clearance too. portable dvd players, televesion sets, computer accesories, printers, portable audio accesories, networking stuff. I hope I can snag one of their wireless G cards when they hit $10.X(it was a motorola).

they don't seem to be clearancing out too many toys though, I was hoping to snag some legos after I got an x-wing for $12.X from them a month ago though.

WarioWare any good? Now that I recall there was one o fthose left too. Might be something to consider if it drops to 50% off in the next week or so. Although I also need to consider getting one of the DK sets at Best Buy, and one of the clearanced Bongos at the other Target.
Yeah I actually got it yesterday at TRU. Is Fire Emblem green tagged at TRU? Mine didn't have any..
Yeah, Fire Emblem is green-tagged at $17.50 IIRC. I'm going to wait for the 70% off on the 27th though. :D

I'm picking it up when it hits $10 or less for the multiplayer portion, which is apparently good?

oh yeah, another one I'm keeping an eye on:

[$20.9X] GCN Megaman Anniversary Edition
What's all this talk about DK sets on Best Buy?
Donkey Konga 1 w/ Bongos is clearanced for $29.99 at Best Buy (can use the GGC for -5 more). Extra set of bongos clearanced for $15 at Target (might be hard to find now)

Mine still has about 4 or 5 sets of bongos, I am hoping to hold out for another drop
Mine still has about 4 or 5 sets of bongos, I am hoping to hold out for another drop
I went to 3 Targets. 2 didn't have bongos, but one had probably 3-4.

Not a bad deal, I was interested in getting Donkey Konga, but that still seems high. I'll probably end up waiting for Dance Dance Revolution: Mario Mix.

Picked up Freedom Fighters (PC) for $4.98 today. Saw City of Heroes DVD edition for $14.98, but passed. I hope to snag it later on.

You are talking about the first fire emblem right?

I'm still waiting for the 70% off sale to but all the games are slipping away.

Some clearance games @ Target in Fairlawn, OH

Urbz (GC) 13.98
Metroid Prime 13.98
Neo Contra 4.98

several other old GC players hits 13.98

my finds today:

[$01.XX] MSC Various Strategy Guides
[$04.34] XBX Yourself Fitness( )
[$06.XX] XBX Madcatz Microcon(Various)
[$07.4X] PS2 Shadow Hearts: Covenant
[$07.4X] PS2 Intec Star Wars Wireless Controller
[$07.4X] PS2 Carrying Case
[$10.XX] GCN Tak 2
[$10.XX] GBA Tron 2.0(?)
[$14.98] GBA Fire Emblem
[$14.98] GBA Metroid: First Mission
[$14.98] GCN Wario Ware
[$14.98] GCN Final Fantasy Chronicles
[$14.98] GCN Prince of Persia: Warrior Within
[$14.98] GCN Megaman Anniversary Collection
[$24.98] GCN Zelda:Four Swords

I only got the ps2 star wars wireless controller(my brother's a star wars nut and I could use a wireless ps2 controller), though I'm probably going back for shadow hearts tonight after I read all the good reviews, hopefully it's still there(last copy).

most of the stuff $7.50 and under is probably at its sweet spot(75% off), I doubt they'll go any lower. the rest of the stuff has another price drop(probably in two weeks) until it gets good. a lot of the stuff I expected to drop(wavebirds, bongos, mad catz live controller) didn't, so I'll pay extra attention to those next monday. a lot of those games will look very good at 75% off(warioware, megaman, zelda).

other things of note:
that ps2 case actually looked really well made with lots of space, but I'm not sure if I need it for that price. I think Toys R US also has it on green tag clearance, not sure if the price is better. here's a link.

http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/product/208340.asp

Tron 2.0 for GBA actually has the two old tron games(tron & discs of tron), not sure if anyone's interested in it.

here's a link to IGN's review of those wireless star wars controllers, it looks like they're not that bad.

http://gear.ign.com/articles/600/600479p1.html

they also were clearancing out a lot of other electronics(pc accesories, tv remotes, audio/video cables, portable dvd players, tvs, ldcs, cameras, etc.), probably making room for the new fall/winter models.

You do know you can get Metroid Prime at GameStop for $4.99 right?...

[$04.34] XBX Yourself Fitness( )
Sweet that's seriously quality. It's really not tailored for guys in the least but if you want a serious workout that will get you in some good shape that will do it. Hopefully it will last until next week when I have some cash again, presuming any near me even have it. Glad to see Crystal Chronicles dropped as well so I can grab that.

Are there a couple more at your store sanjuro that you might be able to grab me one next week if I can't find it?

I'm actually going down there in an hour or so to try and snag that copy of shadow hearts:covenant. they should still have that lone copy of Y:Fitness, if you want I'll pick it up for you for cost + shipping(should be $7 shipped first class).

EDIT: Gah, just got back and neither were to be found. I feel like a douchebag for not picking them up when I had a chance. Oh well, I'll check another target tomorrow and see if they have any, I'll let you know if I find another yourself:fitness, I think I remember seeing another copy at another target around here.
[$14.98] GBA Fire Emblem
That Fire emblem is tempting for that price:). I have my eye on that Zelda too when it drops. As for that PS2 case, its a Sony branded one right? I might pick that up for that price, but then again I don't really need another carrying case.

Yeah, I've learned that if in doubt on a Target clearance item, just BUY it. They have the 90 day return policy and are just about the easiest store to return things at (don't even need the receipt - they look up your credit card in the computer and find the transaction).

But here's the kicker - I bought a Shadow Hearts Covenant when it was $14.98. Took it back a few days ago when I heard they were $7.48 - they refunded me the difference. I'll do the same with the Wavebird and Bongos when the time comes. Looks like I can do it with Fire Emblem now (bought at $20.98).

That's good to hear since I just went ahead and grabbed the final Wavebird at my store figuring I could take it back if nothing else. Hopefully they'll drop soon so I can get the price adjusted on all three and use that to pick up some games.

Forget the BestBuy sale. This and the Labor Day K-Mart sale have been the best ones.
I grabbed fire emblem 1 sealed yesterday for 14.99

My two local Targets in MD have gone crazy. I went looking for a whiteboard, and walked by the electronics dept to notice that almost 80% of the games are gone...and well, there is a whole new look. This is nuts. It looks almost like the old days of Toys R us World of Nintendo. Huge glass cases and large gaming consoles stands....it was so weird. I'm worried that the hundreds of games that were destined to eventually go to clearance are gone or have been sent back. What is happening? Was this an isolated thing? Anyone know? Any Target employee?

Which ones? I was at the one out close to Hunt Valley, the game section was really empty. I did find 3 Gamecube titles that were discounted, Madden 2005, MK Deception $19, and Prince of Persia Warrior Within $15. I may go back tomorrow or thursday. I did pick up Ghost in the Shell Special Edition DVD for $10.

Ooo, I didn't even think to look for something like Ghost in the Shell.

My store has been like this for months . . . just new releases. Clearance has sucked. Like Best Buy . . . my store had next to nothing.

When i first read this i had no idea what you were talking about, but i just got back from target and now realize that you've described it pefectly. They did have some clearence stuff on the end caps, but for the most part, most of the games were gone. There was absolutely no xbox games at all.

Heh, my friend just said he saw the gray Wavebirds clearanced for $7.48 (don't know what Target).

So... hopefully I see that going down around here sometime soon. That's kinda ridiculous. Preferably for my platinum one though, I definitely don't have any use for a third gray one, rather just return/buy or get the difference refunded on the platinum I just bought last week.

No luck in finding anything good at 2 Targets today. Only a buncha ice climbers, prince of persia 2 GC and yugi-oh dice GBA. I was looking for a Fire Emblem, but there was none to be found.

Is Prince of Persia: Warrior Within worth getting for the GC? I've been eyeing it at my Target, and now that's it's $14.99, I might grab it. Does it control o.k.? And are the graphics and everything fine? Or is it better to wait for PS2 Greatest Hits or XBOX Platinum Hits?

Good, hopefully they'll have dropped at mine too. Going to have to print off a barcode and take it in to scan first probably since I don't think they have any more. Is there any difference between the gray and platinum other then color since everyone seems to want the platinum to drop?

Not as many platinums as far as I can see, and I just got mine so it matched my platinum cube. Otherwise I wouldn't have spent the extra money.

Hopefully that means that the prices have dropped chain wide on the clearence stuff. Wouldn't mind grabbing one of those headsets for myself, especially since it works with cell phones too. I'll be so fabulous driving around with a neon green ear piece.

That's wierd, because I just saw Wavebirds (and scanned them to verify) for $20.98 at a Target in VA. They also had the Star Wars wireless controllers for that price. HOWEVER, the same store had Strike Force Bowling, Pinball Hall of Fame, and Tokyo Extreme Racer 3 for $2.48 :D. I bought a Wavebird a few weeks back for $14.98 - I'll see if I can take that back to adjust to $7.48 when I get home. It seems stores that had it for $14.98 should be at $7.48 now. Who knows what's up with the one store holding them at $20.98.

Didn't see your post the first time. You said it about the Target vs Best Buy sales (though not about Kmart - that was the worst one ever where I was!). I was hoping with all these Best Buys in the DC area I would find some good stuff. I've been to 3 so far and have found a couple of things - nothing great though. However, at 2 Target's I've found 5 different games for $4.98 or less and a $14.98 Fire Emblem.

Seriously I was so disapointed that the BB's I went to weren't even doing the sale as far as I could gather. I had acctually stopped at a couple different Targets initially and had kind of forgotten about the sale initially. I was in what's acctually the closest one, which I hadn't checked since the others were bunk, a week or two ago and remembered I should go check the Wavebirds at least. I've just been waiting and hoping the stuff would come down even more before I buy it all lol. I'm just sad I couldn't find FF vs The Third Reich for .79 cents or whatever.

Yeah, my Target (Mayfield) got the techno makeover in the games section too. Worst part was it meant my clearanced bongos disappeared (which I'm pretty sure I could have picked up for $7.48 a piece now). Did get Two Towers for $7.48, which I passed up for $10 at BB. Gonna hold onto that for a bit to see if it drops at the other Target where there were a dozen of them. Passed on FF: CC, WarioWare ($15) and Agent Under Fire ($7.48) for now. Pretty much everything else that used to be clearanced (a bunch of GBA and XB crap) is gone. Not sure if that's good or bad, but probably bad.

Curious what the other Target has now, that was a clearance bonanza.

i only have just have 1 Target near me, and it never has any good clearance stuff. the stuff that is on clearance at my target is always twice what others have seen at theirs. For example:

Everyone else's on this thread has seen at theirs:
Wavebird = 14.98 (or 7.48 at some)
Star Wars Jedi controllers = 7.48
Neverwinter Nights Platinum DVD edition = 19.98

My Target
Wavebird = 20.98 (only for Grey)
Star Wars Jedi controllers = 14.98
Neverwinter Nights Platinum DVD edition = 27.98

for other things like extra DK Bongos or PS2 DualShock (Smoke color), they dont have it!

Give it time, it'll drop. Even though some stuff is cheap at mine (the gray Wavebirds aren't even on clearance anymore, they were $14.98), things like NWN are still at 27.98, most of the PC stuff didn't drop this week.

i would like to give it time, but for the thing i wanted most - some Wavebirds, it is too late. they were none left when i checked today.

i know from this thread markdowns are on Monday, i wonder if the Wavebirds finally got another markdown at my Target (Allentown, PA) and then the employees hoarded them all.

they didnt even have any Platinum ones left -- nothing! and also no more black corded GC controllers that i read on this thread were 9.98.

eh last thing I saw clearanced deep was Castlevania classic for GBA going for 4.XX but I passed since I don't own a GBA.
