Original Target Clearance Thread

Since the Target deals are usually of the "your mileage may vary" type, let's keep all the target clearance deals in this thread.

Here is a fairly easy way to check if your local Target has the games on clearance without making the store clerk unlock the display case and price-scan a bunch of games. Very often, games may be on sale, but will not be marked as such.

BigDirty came up with this nice time saver. Respect his cheap ass skills.

1) Check this thread for games that have been reported on clearance.

2) Go to www.half.com, http://bits.com/ or similar website and search for the game to locate its UPC code number. Its in the grey box underneath the box art graphic.

3) Go to www.schworak.com/upc/ , www.milk.com/barcode/ , or www.upcdatabase.com and enter the code so you can print out the UPC.

4) Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts and search for cheap ass deals!

FYI: "When a game's price ends with 8 cents, further reduction is possible, when it ends in 4 cents, that's the ball game, pick it up cause it's not going any lower. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." - BigDirty

This thread is for Clearance deals, not sale items or raincheck "scams"
Please Post City, State and Store (If City has many stores), game, system and price

Keep extraneous discussion to a minimum, as posts not pretating to clearance deals may be deleted by the mod crew.

As always-- YMMV

Example:

Philadelphia, PA Snyder Plaza
BigDirty's Wild Ride, XBox, $4.98

*Thanks to CheapyD and BigDirty for the info*
OK, today I hit the first snag with a return/repurchase clearance price adjustment. I know they CAN do it, because I've done it a few times. But today I finally found a Target selling the Wavebirds for $7.48 (they didn't have any of course - I have a printed UPC for it). They said they couldn't adjust or return/repurchase. They said the item would have to go back out on the floor, and I'd have to "find it" later. They did say that the store that I bought it at had one more in stock.
I had once bought 2 copies of a game for $10 each (they had a ton of the title) when it hit $5, I returned one copy (got my $10 back) but I removed the clearance tag. The next day I went back and found the game in the loose game area without any tag and bought it for $5 . . . returned it again later (on the original receipt) to get both for $5.

This is a Target policy (so YMMV) if they have been trained, the service desk person will not give you a refund of difference on a clearance item or let you rebuy it.

Yeah, I have never been able to getr a price adjustment on clearance. I just do the rebuy and return method. When they had some XBox controllers (3rd party) for 30% off, I bought it because I wanted a blue one (last blue one they had), when it hit 50% off, I bought a green controller and returned the green controller with the 30% off receipt (same UPC). I wish it was a Target policy to do price adjustment on clearances since rebuying and returning is a pain.

I know it doesn't make sense, but target really doesn't have any choice...otherwise, folks would be buying stuff before clearance, or when it first goes on clearance (30%) and then coming back and trying to cash out once the items go to 75% off. I have gone to target, seen something I bought earlier on a better clearance, so I just buy it, walk right over to customer service and pull out my original receipt and return the one I just bought. But that's been the rare exception, on big ticket stuff...usually not worth the hassle.

Back on topic...found PS2 adaptors for ~9 (75% off)...Solid!

Ok, technical question if anyone can help....

I have broadband through verizon wireless (the pci card...the thing that plugs into your notebook).

So...is there anyway of getting this signal to a ps2 for online?

Thanks....

Terry

Xbox Gamesave (made by gameshark, comes with a connection to connect to memory card, can be used to backup saves or maybe softmod)
$4.98 was $19.99.

Went to another store today and was able to return/repurchase the Wavebird for $7.48... So, it took two attempts but I was able to do it (and this time we were at Target anyway so it didn't take any more effort than remembering to bring the Wavebird and wait in line for 2 minutes).

As for the clearance game items, it seems they are thinning out. There wasn't much there - Custom Robo at $15, Def Jam NY at $10, stuff like that. I noticed that two games I was able to pick up for $2.48 a few weeks back (Strike Force Bowling and Pinball Hall of Fame) are now repackaged with some other title (Ghost Recon in one case) in a 2-pack for $19.99.
... I was in a few over the last few days where they were in the process of moving games into the new cases. At these particular Targets they had almost NO clearance games - almost like they got rid of that stuff while "cleaning up".
....
No, they wouldn't get rid of the clearance just becuase they are expanding the locked cases. The two have nothing to do with one another. Games don't go to 'salvage' until have been 75% and still don't sell. There are some exceptions but this is the general rule. If some profit can be made, they don't 'get rid' of games that are clearance. Even 75% off is more profitable than salvage.

Checked a newly renovated Target this morning (now with glass cases) and the clearance games that were there before remodeling aren't now. Didn't see a single game on clearance. As a previous poster said, it's like they just threw them out. And this store did have quite a few titles early last week, and none at the 75% off mark. I checked all over the area. Wonder if I'll see them again.

I'm still going with my theory that inventory shifts around a bit. Best example is that for weeks, there were 6-10 copies of FF: CC at one of the two near Targets. Then they disappeared. Next day (or within the week, anyway), 6-10 copies of FF: CC showed up at my closest Target, where I hadn't seen any before.
there is nothing in waco, texas.

That's very true. Now what's this have to do with the Target clearance sale?
I am adivising people that nothing is there, so that they will not waste thier time and gas going to the target here.

I've been fairly unfortunate where hardware and peripheral deals are concerned recently. All the clearance Wavebirds, Bongo drums and network adapters disappeared from my local stores in just a few hours after news of a clearance surfaced. I'll have to be much quicker next time.
been 2 weeks since last price drop here going to check it out today and see if anything fell
no price drops everything still 50%

I picked up a copy of the original Fire Emblem GBA for $15 at my Target. I don't know if it is on the list but I am not looking through 30+ pages to see.

Only one out of five Targets I went to had the Halo 2 headset and that was at $34.98 when I went there before. Stopped back there today and found only one left for $12.48. Whoo hoo!

Also picked up two packs of Monster Speaker Cable (30') for $3.74. The 50' pack was regular price $19.99.

Only saw 1 halo2 headset the other day, it was $25. Dont see the need to get it since I have 2 regular and will get a 360 one. The speaker cable were analog (time to move up) so I passed that.
Picked up a digitalcamera/camcorder/mp3/webcam for 65 from 130.

Nothing new at the Mayfield Target this week. Other than them teasing me by putting three DK2 w/bongos sets over by the printer/digital camera clearance but still priced at 49.99. I'll try to stop by the University Heights Target later, more for the PC updates there (most of the console clearance has disappeared).

I'll have to see if those Prince of Persia: Warrior Within copies (8 of them) for GC have dropped to $7 yet, if so consider one or two of them mine, and for sale :p

I'm not sure what they did with the games. I stopped by my Target early this morning to grab food for lunch and noticed several GC games on the clearance shelf. Since I was in a rush and the people were marking down the items two rows ahead, I did not check the price. When I came back this evening, the stack was all gone. There was also nary a clearance game to be seen at another Target I stopped by to visit this evening. Unless someone when nuts buying games, my theory is that there are back in storage.

This happened to a Target here in Saint Petersburg... they had a STACK of LOTR: Third Age for Xbox about a month ago... I assumed by now it would be 4.98 and worth picking up.

The only clearance items they had left was an unmarked Ice Climbers for gba... no way someone bought every one of those LOTR, had to have been at least 10.

Likewise, when I got my MK: Deception for Cube for 19.98, there were about 14 copies at 27.98, and only 3 hidden around the dept when I went a week or so ago. I find it hard to believe that 11 copies were sold when the price dropped 7 bucks.

Ugh, you should read the thread I posted about DK2 in Deal Discussion. :/

From what I've heard, this stuff leaves the building quickly . . . in my area, I've seen a lot of it end up at Goodwill and Salvation Army.

It bites, they just don't let the stuff linger at mine any longer.

Hit my store today and the GC and GBA stuff that I was watching was gone.

Princeton, NJ:

Pelican Wireless XBox Controllers: $7.48
MadCatz Microcon XBox Controllers: $7.48 (Not all are inclusive, probably an old SKU)
GBA: Wolverine's Revenge $3.74

See, that's what I was trying to say. In these Targets that are remodelling the game section they seem to take all (or just about all - I could find one or two unmarked ones) of the clearance games away in preparation - so for all effect, they are in fact "getting rid" of them - whether they are in storage or to goodwill, it makes little difference to us.

ALERT! ALERT! ALERT!

I was at Target today and they were doing markdowns again. I think all Target's nationwide do this markdown. There was nothing new but all existing items were getting marked down further.

Game selection was poor but I saw:

NFL Street GC- $7.48
Def Jam New York GC- $7.48
Prince of Persia WW GC- $9.98
NARC PS2- $4.98

PLus there were some incredible TV deals

Sharp 20 inch flatscreen TV Reg $189.99 NOW $96.99
Sharp 26 inch widescreen flatpanel HTDV REg $1299 NOW $649.98

There were more TV"s there but they were either 32 inch tube TV"s or real small flat panel TV's around 14 or so inch.

I also picked up Wolverine's Revenge on GBA for 3.74... was marked 10.48 - glad I check at the scanner! Literally the only clearance handheld/console game in the place... there weren't any clearance accessories either.

At another Target, I checked the price on GBA Fairly Oddparents I picked up as a gift, and it hasn't fallen any. Maybe next Monday... but I doubt the last copy will be there to check then :/

I also spotted a few things (though I can't remember what they were)... that had been on clearance and were now marked back *up*?

Checked a bunch of PC games, too, and none of them had come down... 6.98 for a 9.99 game isn't so great a deal to me (or other people, apparently)... I wonder when they will bring them down.

I saw that SHARP 26" LCD also at two of my targets. I passed on it...kinda ugly, still seemed like a lot. I can see prices dropping on LCD pretty quick. I just wanted it for a 26" PC Monitor anyways ;)

Yeah, the PS2 adapter disappeared today at my Target, and it never dropped below $25. Also, an automatic laser levelling system with various detectors was 50% off at $23. I was gonna pick it up at the next drop, but they disappeared too. :whistle2:(

I've never thought to scan the clearance games.

Definantly a good thing to scan the clearance games because sometimes games do not get retagged... I always make it a point to do so

I went to the Target by my college last night since i have had no luck with my local one. I saw some wavebirds on 2 hooks, but both had the platinum wavebird sticker on the hooks. 2 of those wavebirds werent platinum so i took it to a price scanner.......7.98!

So i got 2 wavebirds for $16 :)

I'll probably just stop by the store and ask where all the clearance games went. I fully expect them to usher me to the back room where I can wheel a cartfull of games to my trunk, me doing them a favor by shedding their extra poundage, for no charge of course. That'll be a nice moment.

I picked up a couple of Halo2 headsets for $12.48 each. If you anyone wants to buy one or trade for one PM me. Also, is that digital cam/camcorder/mp3/webcam any good? I saw it for $65.

picked up Swat 4 for 12.48

They also had Pariah and Doom 3: RoE. Doom was 4.98 and Pariah was 9.98

There was one copy of Swat left, but it was still marked 24.98. I bet it rings up 12.48 though

They also had some great deals on electronics. I was half tempted to get the display model of a flat panasonic TV for 100. It was a fairly good size too.

This was at the North Hills Target

Damn...I should've scanned SWAT 4. Been seeing it for $34.98, but it was tagged $24.98 the other day.

if you get it, maybe me, you, jam, and some other people could get together on teamspeak for some co-op (pretty sure the game has a really nice co-op feature, i know the exp. pack supports 10 player co-op)

As long as it doesn't have some stat-tracking that doesn't work, I'll be up for a game. I'm going in a few to check if they have it and I'll let you know.

thats cool. And if you ever want to start a new battlefield account and start playing again, I will still be playing so just hit me up on XFire.

I picked up a Halo2 headset today...I may pick up some more. All were marked $12.48. I also saw a PS2 Network Adaptor for $8.98.

(Also picked up a MS Optical Mouse for $5, and a Notebook one for $6, plus a set of Michael Graves speakers for $5 AND a set of Monster RCA cables for $3.xx)

They had a bunch of the Star Wars Wireless Controllers for $7.98 also. I think that was about it for gaming....this was at the 13&John R store in MI

The Pelican Wireless XBox controller I spotted yesterday are also eligible for a $5 PriceGrabber Bonus, in effect making it $2.48, but barely worth that.

I saw Net adaptors too at the Livonia, MI store yesterday. 2 left @ 8.48.

At the Livonia Target on Haggerty Rd. I got:

Wolverine's Revenge GBA 3.xx
True Crime GC 5.04
Mega Man Anniv. Collect. GC 7.48
POP Wwarrior Within GC 7.48
FF Crystal Chronicals GC 7.48

1 set of Konga Bongos for 7.48 (one set was left as of yesterday afternoon)

There were multiple copies left of all above games, FYI

I should have picked up the wireless Jedi Controllers too, but for some reason I forgot to go back for them. 7.48 is a pretty good price. Anybody have these and know if they're junk or not ?

Damn... hope FF: CC has dropped somewhere near me. They were still $14.98 at one Target yesterday.
