Original Target Clearance Thread

Since the Target deals are usually of the "your mileage may vary" type, let's keep all the target clearance deals in this thread.

Here is a fairly easy way to check if your local Target has the games on clearance without making the store clerk unlock the display case and price-scan a bunch of games. Very often, games may be on sale, but will not be marked as such.

BigDirty came up with this nice time saver. Respect his cheap ass skills.

1) Check this thread for games that have been reported on clearance.

2) Go to www.half.com, http://bits.com/ or similar website and search for the game to locate its UPC code number. Its in the grey box underneath the box art graphic.

3) Go to http://upcdata.info/ , www.milk.com/barcode/ , or www.upcdatabase.com and enter the code so you can print out the UPC.

4) Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts and search for cheap ass deals!

FYI: "When a game's price ends with 8 cents, further reduction is possible, when it ends in 4 cents, that's the ball game, pick it up cause it's not going any lower. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." - BigDirty

Games that do not sell after being discounted are often donated to local Goodwills for sale at their retail stores, so check there when the clearance items dissappear.

This thread is for Clearance deals, not sale items or raincheck "scams"
Please Post City, State and Store (If City has many stores), game, system and price

Keep extraneous discussion to a minimum, as posts not pretating to clearance deals may be deleted by the mod crew.

Picked up Drill Dozer. Game received great ratings but was overlooked, probably because of the popularity of the DS. My copy is still sealed, but I'm sure Tao's Adventure can't entertain me forever.

While I'm not looking for an mp3 player, that is a pretty sweet deal.

I can confirm that it rang up at that price at the price checker (when I scanned the upc), but I couldn't find a copy in any of the three Targets I went to lately.

same here. i haven't seen Timesplitters (GC) in any Target stores close-by.

but i found a last copy of Sonic Heroes (GC), and copies NFSU (GC) at $4.98, at some stores.

The DS games were all still at 30% off. I think the Super Princess Peach was ~$24. I'm waiting for more of a drop before I buy anything.


The "Mini" Target:
After Target Corp dumped Mervyn's, they decided they wanted to see if they could compete with Mervyn's. So they built a couple pilot stores and I fondly refer to mine as a Mini Target. It's maybe 3/4 to 2/3 the size of your average Target (not a Greatland, just a Target). The variety of selection isn't quite as vast and every department is compressed a little bit. All the goods in the store are on the edges and the clothing department takes up almost half of the floor space and is at the center of the store. I think it's awesome, but I don't always get the same great clearance deals that some other Targets get because of the smaller stock. However, it's awesome for deals like this because the traffic at this store is a little less and it's out of the way for most scalpers and other CAGs.

My target usually has crap on clearence, but I found a Drill Dozer for 7.48 the other day. (Plymouth Meeting, PA)

I wish I could find something Like Need for Speed for the 360 though, that would be sweet.

Yea, 360 games would be sweet, however I've got to assume this is YMMV to that guy's store since he said it was a pilot store with alot less room.

This is actually one of the more extensive lists of games reported for the Target clearance and I haven't seen anything close to this in my normal sized targets. Interesting...

as for Geist, that is a good deal. i thought they're not gonna go down further. oh well, Geist still rings up $12.48 at my Target.
 
hey is there any way we could get just a list of games that r on clearance like the kmart thread that just has a long list.... or is that not possible since most deals are YMMV.....
 
Anyone know which Inuyasha game on the PS2? My GF loves Inuyasha and this would be a perfect birthday present (10-31 aka Halloween). I dont have a Target near me, but if its Feudal Combat or Secret of the Cursed Mask, i'd be forever greatful if someone picked this up. I just need to know what the price is. Im assuming its less than $20? $10?

You're lucky having a Target that has a few sweet deals -- I can't recall seeing any games on any console platform that break under the $10 mark, at any Sunnyvale-area Target or north in the peninsula.

It would be harder to do then Kmart. As we said in the past, Target stores clearance at different times. Normally there could be up to 3-4 weeks before the clearance starts on the same item across different volume stores even in the same area. This is why several people are reporting drill dozer at different prices. Drill dozer could be $20.98 in some stores while pulled completely at others since it hit 90%. Markdowns go 30%, 50%, 75%, and then 90%. As we stated in the pass 90% means it is normally pulled form the floor completely and sent off to goodwill.

The past thing to do is just check the thread and your stores. Overtime you find the patten at your local stores and know which ones to check first. Lower volume stores definitely get the markdowns first and supertargets always get them last.

Any chance you know which one? I dont have a Target near me and would love to get this game for my girlfriend (huge Inuyasha freak...i mean fan). If its feudal Combat or Secret of the Cursed Mask, and its cheap, i'd definitely pay to have it shipped.

thats a seriously good price for it, since it sells at most places for $200 still.

I'm not sure which is was but I'll check today when I do my normal weekly shopping there. It's probably only at 30% off so far. I'll stash it and let you know the price.

I'll also try to get a better list of what was on clearance. I wasn't really prepared for such a large showing of games.

Betamania Bundle should be 39.99 permanent price drop starting this week. No one bought it at my Target when it was on Temporary Price Cut for that, so.. just putting it out there if anyone's interested .

Secret of the Cursed Mask is really terrible. I got it at Target on clearance last year, and got rid of it as fast as I could. If she's a fan, don't inflict that game on her.

I dunno. I was reading reviews and the game is mediocre at best. But then when i talked to Inuyasha fans, they said the game was worthwhile. I mean, if i can get it for $5-10, then i might as well let her give it a try.
