Original Target Clearance Thread

Since the Target deals are usually of the "your mileage may vary" type, let's keep all the target clearance deals in this thread.

Here is a fairly easy way to check if your local Target has the games on clearance without making the store clerk unlock the display case and price-scan a bunch of games. Very often, games may be on sale, but will not be marked as such.

BigDirty came up with this nice time saver. Respect his cheap ass skills.

1) Check this thread for games that have been reported on clearance.

2) Go to www.half.com, http://bits.com/ or similar website and search for the game to locate its UPC code number. Its in the grey box underneath the box art graphic.

3) Go to http://upcdata.info/ , www.milk.com/barcode/ , or www.upcdatabase.com and enter the code so you can print out the UPC.

4) Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts and search for cheap ass deals!

FYI: "When a game's price ends with 8 cents, further reduction is possible, when it ends in 4 cents, that's the ball game, pick it up cause it's not going any lower. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." - BigDirty

Games that do not sell after being discounted are often donated to local Goodwills for sale at their retail stores, so check there when the clearance items dissappear.

This thread is for Clearance deals, not sale items or raincheck "scams"
Please Post City, State and Store (If City has many stores), game, system and price

Keep extraneous discussion to a minimum, as posts not pretating to clearance deals may be deleted by the mod crew.

As always-- YMMV

Example:

Philadelphia, PA Snyder Plaza
BigDirty's Wild Ride, XBox, $4.98

*Thanks to CheapyD and BigDirty for the info*

In NY staten island:

Splinter Cell Chaos Theory PS2 - $5
Mech Assault XBoX - $5
Splinter Cell Pandora's Tomorrow - $5
Zelda Minish Cap GBA - $15
Tales of Phantasia GBA - $15
Subsistance/Path of Neo guide - $8
some other crap.

@topnotch: still $50 where i see them.

also, they lowered the prices on a few DS games, to $20: Kirby (good deal), Metroid pinball, true swing golf. super princess peach should be included, but it wasnt yet.
was Battlion Wars :gc: on clearance at Target? i was looking at phear3d's list on the previous page.
nah; if i recall, he got them from Sears.
There are a few GTA: LCS and MGS3: Subsistence guides left at the North Hills Target in Raleigh, NC.
Was the GTA: LCS guide the PSP only, or the PSP/PS2 version?

I found these @ the Rocky Mount, NC Target tonight:

Mario Party 6 - $12.48
Mario Party Advance - $7.48
Was the GTA: LCS guide the PSP only, or the PSP/PS2 version?
I didn't notice, but I'll check next time I go there.

I bought Tales of Phantasia for $7.48. When I asked the female employee to scan the game for me she said $7.48! when the price came up and when I said I would take it she said I bet you would.lol thanks CAG I had Sonic Advance 3 scanned but that one rang up $19.99 oh well it was worth a shot.
Was the GTA: LCS guide the PSP only, or the PSP/PS2 version?
I saw some at mine also. It had an all black cover. I believe the PS2 version one was a white cover instead. So im guessing its the PSP Guide.

I also saw:

Full Metal Alchemist 2 9.98
Pokemon Dash 9.98

Those are universal price drops. Meteos, Advance Wars, Kirby, Metroid Prime Pinball, True Swing Golf -- all are now $20 everywhere that has bothered to update their prices. Which reminds me, I need to pick up Kirby at some point...

I have made friends with a guy at my local Target and we talked for a good
half hour about the Wii and PS3 and he said he'd be waiting in line just like me!

He also revealed to me that the Target "Price Team" goes through and changes prices (locally) on Friday if they are ahead of schedule. If not, they try to get them changed on Monday.

Over the last week I snagged:

Tales of Phantasia $7.48
Dynasty Warriors $4.98
Max Payne 2 $3.74 (can't really go wrong, no matter how bad it is)
Harvest Moon : It's a Wonderful Life $10.04
KOF $7.48
Taiko Drum Master $9.99
DK Jungle Beat $13.74 (Yay!)

They had a LOT of games on clearance, our Target is remodeling so they are clearing out a lot of stuff. They must have made another price drop on Friday because all of the games that were on the endcap earlier in the week were gone. Probably about 50 games including PSP NFL Street, XBOX Incredibles, Juiced and a few others.

I went again yesterday and they had moved about 100 more games to the endcap but they were not on clearance....yet. There was a wide variety of games including GBA Final Fantasy IV, DS Advance Wars, Dead or Alive 2-pack, Eye Toy Camera, and a whole lot more. Not clearanced but if you have a similar situation at your Target you might want to keep an eye on it.

Sorry for the long message, I'm really excited about this potential clearance.

Wyatt

My Target finally dropped Phantasia to $7.48. although the sticker still said 20.98. Anyway I got the last one and it made my day.

anyone knows how much that Hobbit game for :gba: cost?
i've seen a couple with clearance labels but no price. (locked up, btw)
anyone tried playing that?

St. Charles, IL had two copies left of Tales of Phantasia @ $7.48
Finally got one for me. :) (Have one for trade if anyone has an extra Minsh Cap.)

PS2 Enter the Matrix $3.74

Elgin, IL had PS2 Max Payne 2 for $3.74 (a ton of copies last friday)

Was just at my local Target (cols, oh) and Zelda the Minish Cap is now down to 7.48. I just bought mine for 15 last week. Should have waited I guess.

Here is the strange thing. I was looking at every Target in the area last week trying to find it. The weird part is this Target did not any copies last week. When I didn't see with thier clearance games on the endcap I checked the case as another Target still had it there (but at full price). I know most stores don't transfer around clerance product so I find it rather strange these just appeared.

Couldn't you just buy it again at 7.48 and then return it the next day using the receipt where you paid 15 for it?
To anyone with iPod Nanos...the dock connectors are $4.98 new. Best Buy still sells these for $39.99
Yes I can confirm this. I don't own an Ipod so I didn't know what it was but it caught my eye when I noticed the price.

Score the following tonight:

- Action Replay MAX Memory 64mb Memory card (PS2) $2.48
- Action Replay MAX GBA/DS $2.48

The 64mb memory card will be sweet because now I can transfer the data from my 5 PS2 cards to this 1 card.

Just be a little careful with these cards.. they can go wonky, i have one and although it's only happened once, i did lose all my data on it when somehow a file got corrupted (i lost 38MB of save games!). Also some games won't save if you use this one (at least for me anyway).. games that don't work are RE4, Shark Tale, Kingdom Hearts 2, Dragon Quest 8, Champions of Norrath and Ghosthunter (for now).

As for Target clearance, my local one has Max Payne 2 (PS2/XBX) - $3.74
Auto Assault (PC) - $4.48, The expansion for Rome Total War $4.48. An online game pack (Everquest, SW Galaxies, The Matrix...) $7.48, The Incredibles (PC) $3.74.. some others too..

Thanks for the info. Also I am very fond of that Target in Colleyville near you next to World Market. It usually has a decent selection of clearence when I'm down there visiting family.

Picked up the second to last copies of Zelda: Minish Cap and Dr. Mario Puzzle for the GBA today for $7.48 each at my local Target. As the guy was checking the price on each for me (they weren't marked) a cute soccer mom caught wind that they were both on clearance and picked up the last two.
...a cute soccer mom caught wind that they were both on clearance and picked up the last two.
did you kill her and make a skin-suit out of her body?

'cause don't.

Target in Branson, Missouri had a goldmine of cheap xbox games.

2 copies of Spiderman 2
20 copies of Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow
30 copies of Mech Warrior

All of these games were priced at $2.48. I do not have an Xbox, I am not a (w)hor(e)der, I have no desire to sell games on ebay. So, I left them all.

I also saw 2 copies of Mega Man Anniversary Collection, I picked up one for my friend. They were $5 and for the GC.

Other games I noticed:

Fantastic Four - GC - $5
Madden 06 - GBA - $15
Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory - PS2 - $5

There was another ps2 game that I can't recall. There were also at least 5 copies of each title.

Finally, there were 2 copies of Tales of Phantasia (GBA). One was marked at $7.48, the other was marked at $4.98. I thought that was odd, so I scanned it and it rang up $7.48. I had no desire to go up and argue the price, so I left it. Maybe someone else could get the marked price though, if they really wanted to.

Megaman Anniv (GC) and Minish Cap (GBA) are the two that i won't be able to get (all locations near me are sold out). therefore, i demand that people stop posting the great prices they've paid for them.

just kidding. but seriously, i'm glad to hear someone is landing a nice price.

If you point out to the cashier that the price should be $4.98, even though it rings up at $7.48 they'll override the price for you. I've never received any hassles when doing this so far. :)

I didn't see any games I wanted, but I did find the ipod nano dock for the old model priced at $4.98. I have one in my TL now.
Can anyone confirm what the price of Mario Tennis for the Gamecube right now? It was 24.99 last time I checked.
This was also tagged at $25 at my local K-Mart on Monday.

I bought Taiko Drum Master with drum controller for $9.99 and the Brady Games MGS3 Subsistence and PSP GTA Liberty City Stories guides for $3.74 and $3.98. Thanks again CAG.:) Is the Halo Triple Pack included in this sale? I went a few days ago there was one in stock I did not bother to get it scanned it was gone when I went today.

Was it a universal drop? I know of a K-Mart that actually had a few in stock.
