Original Target Clearance Thread

Since the Target deals are usually of the "your mileage may vary" type, let's keep all the target clearance deals in this thread.

Here is a fairly easy way to check if your local Target has the games on clearance without making the store clerk unlock the display case and price-scan a bunch of games. Very often, games may be on sale, but will not be marked as such.

BigDirty came up with this nice time saver. Respect his cheap ass skills.

1) Check this thread for games that have been reported on clearance.

2) Go to www.half.com, http://bits.com/ or similar website and search for the game to locate its UPC code number. Its in the grey box underneath the box art graphic.

3) Go to http://upcdata.info/ , www.milk.com/barcode/ , or www.upcdatabase.com and enter the code so you can print out the UPC.

4) Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts and search for cheap ass deals!

FYI: "When a game's price ends with 8 cents, further reduction is possible, when it ends in 4 cents, that's the ball game, pick it up cause it's not going any lower. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." - BigDirty

Games that do not sell after being discounted are often donated to local Goodwills for sale at their retail stores, so check there when the clearance items dissappear.

This thread is for Clearance deals, not sale items or raincheck "scams"
Please Post City, State and Store (If City has many stores), game, system and price

Keep extraneous discussion to a minimum, as posts not pretating to clearance deals may be deleted by the mod crew.

I checked on the guitar today, none at my store but the zelda replica was marked clearance 32.99 but scanned at 19.9x so i hid one in the toys department i think ill bite if its around 10 or so.
 
Too bad Target has a policy about returning seasonal / limited / collector's items. Their policies state that if I try to return the one I bought for full price I only get a refund for the current clearance price on this type of item. I should try to return it anyways and see if they'll do it.

Has anybody else that paid full price tried to do this?
 
Found me a guitar locally. I got an American Rejects for $50. Would have rather got a weezer but they were no where to be found. I don't really care about the signature. The Rejects guitar itself is pretty cool. I could have gotten the Fallout one, but I didn't like gold plating on the metal.
 
for some reason my local Target has a ton of the Zelda sword things...I'd be willing to part ways from a $10.00 as well for one.

I found a Weezer guitar in terrible condition on Sunday. It was clearanced at $50, so I asked if they had any in back and they had one which was in much better condition. They also had two Fall-Out Boy guitars. So if anybody is looking for some beat up guitars in the West Hartford, CT area, Target's got them.

My local Target has never had those Zelda LE things.

YMMV. You may get lucky, you may not.

If you don't, there are still a couple of things you can try.

1) Return it to a different Target. The clearance price may be higher there.

2) Wait for it to drop out of the system, then return it.

Obviously, this won't work for stuff that's obviously holiday, but since Zelda isn't, you have a good shot.
 
The Target next to me in Dallas had a couple Weezer guitars left, but were still $99.

No Zeldas and a few of the Tony Hawk packages.

Man, i wish we would have had the Weezers. Anyway, if i was you, I would find a helpful target employee to get the price reduced. These have gone 75% all over the place. The Dallas price adjusters just haven't priced them down yet. I had to do this at mine, as they were still marked $99 but coming up item not found in the computer. Using the wand they came up $99 last price. They said "sorry that's the lowest price". But after some convincing, they called the girl who does the price adjustments to see if she just hadn't gotten around to it. She evidently said that they should be 75% off cause they came back and gave it to me for $48. :)

Or maybe it will work even with holiday stuff.

Today I found 3 Christmas CDs. The last Xmas markdown was 90%, even as of yesterday in local Targets. The CDs didn't scan and came up as "Item Information Not Found".

I took them to a register. The cashier understood immediately. "Oh, they're Christmas. They're on sale." He got another guy to go to the returns desk to get a price.

He comes back a few minutes later telling me they are....full price.

I told him that no one is going to buy them at those prices. He told me they'll send them back and that CDs, even Christmas ones, never go down in price. That last bit is patently not true.

So, as always, YMMV.
 
UGGGH. I went to two targets today, one had 4 guitars all at $99 both had Zelda collectors and Tony Hawk, but the thing that I thought was funny was that both stores had 6 PS3s. I counted, and couldnt believe it. No Wiis though.
 
Are there any pricedrops on games during this time of the year?
Seems like most of the last posts I've read have been for guitars, skateboards, and other toys. Although, I wouldn't mind finding those Zelda swords and shields.
 
I haven't seen a clearance console game at Target in weeks, I think during the holidays, they don't bother with it so hopefully it will pick up soon

Did a quick tour around the Fargo, ND area today...Kmart had 2, Target had 4, Bestbuy had at least 2, and Walmart had 10. ALL 60gb models. Not a 20 in sight. These suckers aren't selling. And yeah, no Wii in sight. I saw ONE at Target 2 weeks ago, but im sure it was gone the moment I walked away. Walmart didn't even have them in the case, they were all just laying out on an end cap.

Thanks for the info, I will probably go back and try that here soon, the Target closest to me has no guitars at all, really they have no any musical intruments at all. They had at least 10 of the Tony Hawk packages though and they too had zero Zeldas. Both stores had a few of the really marked down Quake 4's.

Oh and there was a clearance Nancy Drew two pack for $15, I almost got it for my girl. She stays up late playing that and I have to "save" her cause she gets so scared. It's quite funny really, but she loves those type of games. I'm probably going to get her a pink DS lite and Hotel Dusk for Valentines! :lol:

Yeah PS3's are easy to find now. This is the first system in a long time that are consistently in stores only a mere 2 months after launch.

Does someone have the SKU for any guitar they have? Weezer or any other band? Both Targets by me are out of guitars and i can't check availability in far away Targets without having some kind of product code for them to look up. I'd hate to drive really far looking for one without calling first after striking out twice so far.

Hey BigDirty what's up I met you at TRU like last year if I remember correctly. Rt 1 Target and Hightstown Target are out of guitars as you prob know already. Thanx for the heads up on edgewater. Any word on Freehold or Oxford Valley?

LX3WZ is the model. That's the best I can do for you. I know where I work that would be more than enough to look it up.

Where do they usually place those guitars? I looked by the endcap of the guitar row at my local target, but all I saw were Hello Kitty guitars and IPod Hi-Fi's. Just want to make sure I was checking out the right area.

I haven't been down that way since Christmas Week, since I'm now up in Far North Jersey, I've got a whole new set of Targets.
 
I saw the All American Rejects guitar for $50 last night at the Cedar Park, TX Target store. It was the last one and the box looked in decent shape. Also they had 4 of the PS2 versions of the Tony Hawk skateboard/game for $62 at this location.
 
Well Target said they would issue a full refund on the Zelda sword/shield. But they wouldn't let me purchase the same one again so I would probably have to buy a new one and return it with the old receipt.

It was still about $29.99 at my Target though so I will swap it later. I was hoping it had hit $19.99 by now but I guess not.

I'm going to look around some more, but assuming I can't find one.. I'd appreciate the same (I'd sympathize with a slight hike in price as well, depending on how much you bought it for).
 
Picked up Odama today for $12.48. They had 3 copies in the case stickered at $34.99, but when I had them pricecheck one, it was out of the system. They gave it to me for the last price on file - $12.48.

There are still 2 more if anyone is interested.

The target me also has those marked at $34.98. They had 4 of them and I picked one up almost a month ago for $12.98. The other 3 have just been sitting there. I wonder how long before someone notices they are out of the system?

My target still has the taiko drum master set for $9.99

I also saw some Zelda marked down to $19.99

Anyone know when they mark down the prices, i remember someone said on certain days.....

Anyways, picked up a bunch of cheap action figures in the toy aisle...

The same Target has 3 copies of the Tony Hawk Project 8 package with autographed deck, but the price is still in the $60 range. If they drop a bit more, I may pick one up.

I was at the other Target last weekend, and they had an endcap full of the autographed guitars. I scanned a Weezer one, but it had already dropped out of the system. They were still taggged in the $130 range, and the loser kid working refused to go any lower than that.

Crap. I wish my target had the taiko drum master set, but they didn't have anything whatsoever...much less that game :(

Some may disagree with this but you can peel of the sticker and then ask them to look up the last selling price with the hand gun. There is a good chance it was marked down more but they did not update the sticker and it's not right for them to charge you the sticker price if it was marked down more just because they don't want to check.
