the problem with the sox is there inconsistency. Some days the offense is there somedays it isn't...Somedays the middle relief can hold it, some days they can't...every single starter has had at least 1 horrible start in the past month...and who knows with pablebon right now...I am not saying it is unreasonable for them to click at the right time, but I just don't see them winning 11 games in oct.\
granted i got in a bad car accident late last week, and haven't followed the sox much besides boxscores, but I thought lugo was done for the year, he isn't going to help...and drew doesn't need more rest, he needs his timing back..
that and the fact lester is up over his inn limit for the year, I wonder how much he has left in the tanks going forward.
That sucks to hear about your accident. As for Lugo, there was speculation he may be able to spell some INF, but I've not heard any more on that front. And you're right about Drew, he should be the best rested person on the team at this point.
Other than playing the Rays, the Red Sox have played exceptionally well, coming into tonight, I think they've only lost one game in quite a few series in a row, with the exception of Tampa, only winning 2 total in 6 games. Since the beginning of August (after their terrible series with the Angels), the Red Sox have only lost 3 series (2 to TAM and one 2 game set to TOR). Other than that, they've lost 1 in every other series. They're hot right now, except when they play TAM.
We shall see though, I think we can take out Lackey in a 3 game set with the Angels. They probably rough up Daisuke, since he likes to walk a few batters a game and the Angels play a lot of small ball. Lester is really the wild care here. Does he pitch game 2 or 3?
Edit: After looking at the splits, Daisuke gets the nod for game 2, as he is a better road pitcher than Lester.
