This what makes baseball great. AL Central and NL Wild Card going down to the final day of the season. This easily tops NFL in my book.

Win a playoff game first :D. we handed it to you guys again.

Although we still have a chance to make it because of the amazing johan's performance...but man was nolasco tough also.

Basically, tomorrow (or a playoff game between Brewers and Mets) decides who we play in the NLDS. Dodgers have a worse offense but good pitching (basically 3 #2 caliber starters) and the Mets have the 2nd best offense in the NL, but a bullpen with an ERA of 63.38 and only one great starting pitcher.

I predict a sweep either way.

The messed up thing of all of this, is if the Mets/Brewers outcome is the same and the ChiSox (atleast have to match what the Twins do)/Twins outcome is the same, there could be Monday games. If the Sox tie the Twins after their game against DET, then there will be a Tuesday game prior to the playoffs actually starting.

The only way this could be more interesting, is if the Mets/Brewers had lost out and the Astros won out. Then the Cubs would've had more baseball to play as well.

It's possible that there will be a playoff game for both the AL Central and NL Wild Card; has there ever been two 1 game playoffs in the same season in MLB History?

Nope. If memory serves me correctly, there have only been seven tie-break games in the history of MLB, and none of them were in the same year.

So...the matchups:

NL
Cubs vs. Dodgers
Phillies vs. Brewers

Confusion League
White Sox vs. Tigers
Twins vs. White Sox

AL
AL Central vs. Rays
Red Sox vs. Angels

My Prediction still stands:
Cubs vs. White Sox
LOL Mets. Epic failure again.
Yep. As a Braves' fan, that has been my only solace the past two seasons.

I can't see the White Sox making it far in the playoffs -- assuming they can get past a Tigers team with nothing to lose and a Twins team riding a huge wave of momentum, they'll go into Tampa Bay after two do or die games against a team that's had time to rest and set up their lineup for the playoffs.

Well, gotta stay positive. I think if the Sox can make it past these next 2 days, the momentum will heavily favor the White Sox going into Tampa Bay with a stadium half full....Great fans they got

well the pirates did make a good trade for bay...and allegedly the players in the trade you made with the yanks are decent prospects.

management will some how screw it up.. it's hard to have any sort of positive outlook when you are a Pirates fan.. I hope for good things but they end up disappointing me like crazy..

Playoff predictions:

Brewers over Phillies in 5
Cubs over Dodgers in 4

Red Sox over Angels in 4
Rays over Twins or White Sox in 3
goddamn Mets. They weren't going anywhere anyway with that bullpen.

Cubs in 4 and Brewers in 5.
Well good luck to all the rest of you guys. And as for the mets,

D-I-S-A-P-P-O-I-N-T-I-N-G-!

The whole team sucked in september. But i will give them some credit. They made it this far without a LF even though Murphy/Evans and Tatis shined there, Church was abismal when he came off that injury. They shoulda shut him down for the season. 2nd base was a complete joke. Castillo is done, Easely did play well..but i still think he is not an everyday batter, and Argenis Reyes looked like Castillo with tons of more speed. 3rd Base can't hit in clutch situations, no offense from both catchers whatsoever. And not to mention the bullpen. Even SP had its ups and down with Santana being the only consistent pitcher game in and game out. He is worth every single penny we paid for him.

dunno, im just bitter right now. I thought the taste of 07 wouldnt linger but it has. They need to toss the whole pen except for Joe Smith and Parnell..and they won't get rid of parnell because he is a top level prospect. The rest can take a hike. WE also need a guy who can get down and dirty and pick up the team when they are down. I hate this passive crap. They need something to light theit butts on fire. anyone with some attitude please.

New ownership or relocation would help.

NEW ROOKIE GRAND SLAM RECORD!

Before this inning, I thought the Sox were fucked. But my reaction was like Scarface's reaction to seeing the room full of weed in Half Baked, just with more jumping.
Hell yeah!! Why do the damn Sox waited to the last damn minute to win shit?
Well, at least they're winning (for now). 2005 notwithstanding, they've broken my heart many times over the past 14 years or so.

Anyone else watching today's game? Danks is pitching very well on 3 days' rest for the first time in his career, but the game's still 0-0 after 3 innings.
