God it feels good to get a game one win, only goal now is to get to Zambrano early and shake is confidence. If he start gettting psycho, the floodgates will open. Would be nice to go back to LA up 2-0.
Ellisbury is nasty, that catch was amazing and the kid hustles. I really don't like the Red Sox, but you can't help like that kid.

Listening to the White Sox now. Glad the Rays got out of the inning with the bases loaded.

And if I wanted another reason to see the Cubs make the NLCS, I just got the email letting me know I was chosen in the random draw for NLCS tickets!

The Brewers are finished. I guess all that short rest finally caught up with Sabathia.

Also, I like Harold Reynolds, but he never shuts the fuck up! I swear no other commentator talks more than him.

I'm lovin it.

All you Cubs fans should install computers in your bathrooms so you can post while you vomit.

Go Dodgers!

Go Phillies!

All the teams I want to win are losing. I was expecting the Phillies to win out though, Cubs look like they are going to get swept again which I didn't expect. Only team winning so far is the Rays.

thats a pleasant image:whistle2:# lol

But seriously the Dodgers hav jus stunned everyone in the Chi.
I love watching the Wrigley crowd. old people (who were probably at the cubs last World Series title win) have their dreams of seeing another one before they croak dwindle away.

I LOOOVE LA!!! ........ I LOOOVE LA!!!
It's all up to Big Z now. Game two is a must win so he needs to be on his game. In game one the thing that sucks is Dempster threw probably 4-5 pitches that were good enough to get him out of the bases loaded jam but to the Dodgers credit even though they were fooled a bit they managed to get a piece of them and foul them off. What a sickening feeling that was when Loney hit that slam...

Also that pitch that Marshall threw to Manny was not a mistake, just a ridiculous swing. The pitch was almost on the ground when Manny reached down to knock it out of the park.
aahahahahahahhahahahahhahahahahahah

Funny thing is I thought we'd lose because of a Z meltdown but instead it was the entire infield that melted down around him. I was surprised he held his cool the whole time.

EDIT: If (or I guess it's just a matter of "when" now) the Cubs don't make it I hope for a Rays Brewers World Series although the Brew Crew are having just as much luck as we are right now. I think they finally wore out CC pitching him so many times in a row on short rest.

yeah I still think Boston is gonna take it this year. That team is built for the playoffs and they are owning LAA like they did the last dozen times they faced them.

that said congrats to the dodgers. I cant believe they stunned the Cubbies like that but what could you do when your whole infield just collapses and has no idea whats going on. That was some pretty bad fielding by guys who never play bad defense.

The Cubs have basically self destructed here. Loney's grand slam in Game 1 never would have been if Dempster didn't walk the bases loaded (the second time he did so in less than 5 innings). Martins Game 2 bases clearing double would never have happened had the infielders just made a play. Those 2 hits took the Cubs and the crowd out of both games early.

On the flip side, Dodger starting pitching has been outstanding thus far. Plus, Dodgers bats are taking advantage of the mistakes. Two months ago that wouldnt have been the case. I wonder whats changed since then (sarcastic)? lol

Saturdays game will be interesting. I predicted Dodgers would win in 4 games. Cubs are reeling but i think they are too good a team to get swept. However, I just can't see them winning 2 games here in L.A. so i stand by my pre series prediction.

At least the Sox managed to get 2 runs after loading the bases with no outs. Although, given the circumstances, they should have gotten more. But failing to convert in bases loaded situations was a huge problem yesterday.

your tears are delicious. go dodgers MAN-RAM all the way up chitowns sore-rear-end-o

Once again having the best record doesn't mean squat. Both the Angels and Cubs are on the way to first round sweeps. Now I kinda wish the Mets had won the wildcard so we would've gotten to play the lowest seed in the first round. I assume we didn't get the Brewers because they're in the same division and MLB has a rule against that?

Sox take a 2-0 lead back to Boston with Beckett starting... God the Angels suck. Granted Francona let them tie the game with his mismanagement of the bullpen, but Mike Scioscia is overrated. And K-Rod got K-Rocked (sorry, its the headline on NESN's postgame). He's not as untouchable as people think he is.

DREWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW! Another 20 million dollar homer ? lol

If the Sox manage the sweep I'm going to get cocky as all hell. Already the Yankee fans at work gave me the BS that we wouldn't make it past the first round. Hell, if we do that's fine with me. The Rays will be a much tougher team. fucking Angels are a joke and prove that regular season record means nothing.

Did anyone expect the Angels to win?

But if it comes down to Rays vs Red Sox I'm putting my money on the Rays. That'll be a good series to watch either way.

Originally, I thought the series could go either way. After Game 1, I was hoping for a sweep, as always :)

It'd be interesting to see a Rays/Red Sox ALCS. Of course, if they got 3 games on us, we'd clearly win. Why? Because when they're up on us like that, no one can beat us.
Well earlier I didn't have much faith in the sox taking the first two games, but looking at the record in the playoffs versus them (now 10 wins in a row versus the Angels) I should have thought differently. However, it really sucked last night for the Angels considering they were getting a run every other inning to tie it only to blow it to a JD DREWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW bomb. I'm not counting the Angels out till we win one more, hell I'm not counting anyone out till the series is over.

As for the Rays, it should be a good series that should last atleast six games. I'm hoping the Sox can win that series to but the Rays deserve to go to the world series for all that they have done this year. So do the Cubs but that's another story lol.

well the brew crew doesn't seem to want to go down easy, they are up 3 - 0 in the bottom of the 5th

I believe chicago whitesox will win tmro as well, as I don't have much faith in garza right now. Last 10 starts he let up 27 earned runs in 62 ip. In that time in 3 of those starts he gave up one run in 23 2/3rd ip against toronto 2x and texas once. So he wasn't pitching well at the end of the season, and it might be due to ip this year as he is over 100ip higher then any other mlb season. Not sure of what his ip count was in the minors, but IMO he is out of gas/location and I think the whitesox are going to take him deep numerous times. In the end, it won't matter imo as the rays are a far better team then the whitesox
I saw that on NeoGaf earlier. Funny.

sigh...
Cubs are down already.
Yep same ol' story, getting behind early and leaving runners on base.

EDIT: I'd like to see a side-view replay of that play the Cubs had at 3rd base just before that 2 run double. Seemed to me like Aramis nailed the runner on his hand and all the way up his shoulder before he tagged the base.

EDIT #2: Nice, error on Harden and Fontenot injures himself on the play...
So do the Cubs but that's another story lol.
I can't think of a team less deserving than the Cubs. All the walks, the errors... Those guys don't deserve to be in the postseason, much less anything else.

How would they not deserve to be in the postseason? Them playing like crap right now doesn't mean they played horrible the rest of the season.

The Dodgers?

The Cubs are very deserving to be in the postseason, they played well the whole season. They are not playing like a postseason team right now however, but that doesn't mean you can suddenly discredit them.
So which team will sweep the Cubs next postseason? Giants or Padres?
That's assuming the Cubs have a postseason next year...

Anything less than a championship is water under the bridge.

Golf clap for the great regular season Cubbies. I bet they wouldn't trade for...no, I'm sure they'd trade it for anything at this point.

Anyone remember that amazing Mariner team that put up all those wins? Course not. They went out in the first round.

The 97-64 Cubs were not present in this series.

I'm so disappointed. This is a fucking joke. I don't what the fuck happened to these guys. I'm just so bummed out right now.

This is pretty tough to swallow.

Hopefully a new ownership group will usher in a new era of success for the Cubs as it did for the Red Sox... It certainly isn't there now. And I hope Wrigley Field won't be sold separately.

Cubs just don't show up in the playoffs (again). Yeesh. Gotta wonder what the fuck their problem is. They beat the Dodgers what, like, 7 out of 10 in the season? Unacceptable.

Don't really care what happens now. I've always liked the Red Sox (mostly because they were comparable to the Cubs at one time), so I hope they go the distance.

And the only other thing I want to happen is the White Sox also get swept. Won't hear the end of it around here if they make a comeback.

I'm so fucking pissed off right now.

There's no excuse for this series. The fielding, the pitching, the hitting. Those motherfuckers got lazy and couldn't do shit in this series. There is NO fucking excuse for any of that.

The best team in the NL got swept. The second year in a row this team has been swept. This is fucking unacceptable and I'm fucking pissed off as a fan about it.

This series has been the worst fucking performance by a sporting team I have ever seen in my life.

That would be an intense series, but I don't think the Red Sox would be able to make it past the Rays if both make it to the NLCS.

I'm thinking it will be Dodgers and Rays. I think the Dodgers can win against either the Phillies or Crew.
