thats two games you guys spanked us. and that two games where the mets fail miserably at every aspect. No offense, terrible defense, and dont get me started on the bullpen. the only thing that has kept us in the game was the pitching. Figueroa and Maine kept us in there until Sosa, heilman and a lack luster offense made winning impossible.
Im sorry man, but Sosa needs to GTFO. ive been optimistic with him enough. I feel like he is the new Mota. He has never had a good outing where he got away clean. him and heilman are like the two guys teams should just eye and wait on to beat us. When Willie puts them in, that gives any team a chance to come back or extend their lead. 2 home runs(1 grand slam) in 2 appeaerances. that begs for a man to get his ass sent down. Hats off to the cubs though, they been playing great ball ever since Soriano went down. Even Ted Lilly came in and cleaned house on us.
Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't Sosa supposed to be the guy you put in to eat up innings. He was supposed to be the long reliever correct? So why does Willie keep bringing him in games that are close in the 7th and 8th?!!??!?! You have certain guys for that. Smith, Schoeneweis, Feliciano, Sanchez, and Heilman, are the guys you bring in the late innings in close games. The Mets need to cut ties with Sosa and put Figueroa in the pen or bring up Vargas and put him there for your long reliever.
Another thing that confuses me about Willie is the way he handles the line up. He batted Church 2nd, and the lineup scored runs. Castillo could not even get a bunt down the other night against Philly. Put Church back in the 2 hole and bat Castillo 8th. When Alou comes back next week, Willie better bast him 5th, as Delgado can't hit anything. The line up should look like this:
Reyes, Church, Wright, Beltran, Alou, Delgado, Schnider, Castillo.
Before the season I was confident the Mets would at least make the playoffs and have a good shot to win the WS. Now my feelings have changed significantly. Signing Castillo to a 4 year deal was a huge mistake. Delgado is done and I am so happy this is his last year. The Mets won't cut or bench him since they owe him 20 Mill this year but that's besides the point. The bullpen is a mess. The only upside is there starters. Maine and Perez hopefully will keep developing. The Mets better keep Perez. I can see Pelfrey becoming a solid 4th starter.
The main thing is Willie needs to go. The team does not seem motivated at all. Not to mention all of his coaching mistakes. They need a change and I am hoping it comes a lot sooner then later.
