Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't Sosa supposed to be the guy you put in to eat up innings. He was supposed to be the long reliever correct? So why does Willie keep bringing him in games that are close in the 7th and 8th?!!??!?! You have certain guys for that. Smith, Schoeneweis, Feliciano, Sanchez, and Heilman, are the guys you bring in the late innings in close games. The Mets need to cut ties with Sosa and put Figueroa in the pen or bring up Vargas and put him there for your long reliever.
Yeah i never understood that either. In the first game against the cubs..when he brought in Sosa in the 8th to face felix pie....i was like "WHA DA
, why him and why now?!" I think Willie is trying to instill confidence in these guys but sacrificing any games we need to stay in first or stay close to first. I dont even my Figueroa as a starter. he has been pitching really well in pedro's absense. I think Vargas(Claudio for those who dont know) could fill in well in both spots. i can seem him definiltey geting called up in may quickly. I also think Willie is trying t o regain that 6 game win streak he had last year. I dont think it will ever happen. hopefully in may they start to figure out that Sosa is not the man for long relief or set up. Heck we even have Wise, and i bet willie will use him less when he gets off the DL.
i like that lineup better than our previous one. Castillo is no longer Castillo anymore. He will never regain what he had in Florida. I still dont know why the mets insisted on keeping him when we had Loretta and marcus giles as options. although giles was cut....he would have been cheaper and had him for less years than an older castillo. i like Church in the two hole. it gives Wright protection and the guy can hit with RISP. IF reyes can get on base..it leaves church or wright to bring him in. Schnieder should be ahead of Delgado. Schnieder atleast can make contact with the ball. I dont give a hoot if Delgado is trying to pull balls now. He isnt pulling anything but air. Its also the reason i wish we kept Gotay. Atleast he would be a viable 2nd basemen we could use if Castillo performs like he is(shitty).Alou would be a huge hitting upgrade compared to a beleagured Delgado. I cant wait till he comes back....hopefully he can do the job better.

Another thing that confuses me about Willie is the way he handles the line up. He batted Church 2nd, and the lineup scored runs. Castillo could not even get a bunt down the other night against Philly. Put Church back in the 2 hole and bat Castillo 8th. When Alou comes back next week, Willie better bast him 5th, as Delgado can't hit anything. The line up should look like this:
Reyes, Church, Wright, Beltran, Alou, Delgado, Schnider, Castillo.

Before the season I was confident the Mets would at least make the playoffs and have a good shot to win the WS. Now my feelings have changed significantly. Signing Castillo to a 4 year deal was a huge mistake. Delgado is done and I am so happy this is his last year. The Mets won't cut or bench him since they owe him 20 Mill this year but that's besides the point. The bullpen is a mess. The only upside is there starters. Maine and Perez hopefully will keep developing. The Mets better keep Perez. I can see Pelfrey becoming a solid 4th starter.[ /quote]
as i said, i totally agree. Castillo was a huge mistake. It was one of Omar's loyalty signings. Just like Pedro and Valentin, he gets a huge contracct because his name is Luis Castillo and thats it. Everyone scratched their heads with that signing. Santana just made everyone forget that momentarily. i cant wait till delgado leaves...that leaves us open to get younger and better there....maybe Nick Johnson is even a better option than Delgado. Im not worried about SP at all. everyone is pitching great. Its the other aspects of the mets that blow the games wide open. If the Mets lose perez...they rotation is in real trouble......we already had trouble filling in pedro.and if we lose him....Wilpon better pony up more bills or we will see a totally Raw Eddie Kunz pitch for us.
The main thing is Willie needs to go. The team does not seem motivated at all. Not to mention all of his coaching mistakes. They need a change and I am hoping it comes a lot sooner then later.
Yeh i think Willie has finally lost it...every game, the decisions seem totally inconsistent with last games and the wierd stuff he pulls never works out. also if the grudge against Feliciano is true...and if thats the reason why he isnt giving Feliciano a chance....than he needs to leave soon. Yeah the team looks really complacent. like they dont care anymore and again expect things to be handed to them. Im seriously getting really sick of that.
