The 2010 General Election Thread
What props are you against in our state?

Edit- just got back from voting (I live across the street from my polling place) and besides me and one other lady in a wheel chair, my polling place was empty sans staff. It was nice to have a choice of voting desk. Anyway my votes were for
Brown (D), I personally dislike Whitman due to her shenanigans with the illegal worker and subsequent handling of the situation. Brown is okay but I hope the next election better candidates run from both parties.

Boxer (D), I like Fiorina in her debates but her support of prop 8 and subsequent statements on it push me away from her.

Thompson (D), I like his stance on Veterans, and personally it was him or that madam from the Green party and I would rather not waste my vote.
well the worst of the bunch is prop 25. its such a joke a prop, has been very misleading and wont make anything better if it passes.

20 & 27 are also pretty important too.

voted yes on 19, of course.

Sestak/Toomey is down to 1,500 votes (of over 3 million) splitting the two. EDIT 1,477 votes w/ 89% reporting.

My heart is going a million miles an hour.

Thanks for electing Tom Corbett, whose education policy is fucking so disastrous they might as well call it "busing part 2."

That kills me, that despite all the rabble rabble about the banks and bailouts etc. that republicans can still back a former banker from Wall Street.

Damn, looks like my entire retarded state went straight (R)
Kind of curious to see what will happen in 2012 when people realize that the Republicans didn't do any better. Third parties?
And let me add that I hope the third parties are a little more sane than the Tea Party and that people don't vote that way because "they want to vote the incumbents out" (which is insanity I've heard people say around here)

- edit And I wish Meek would have dropped out. He only got 20% of the vote and Crist got 29%. Maybe if he wasn't around, Crist could have taken Rubio

here = FL? or here = vs forums?

This whole anti-establishment mantra is parroted day in and out by thrustbucket and unclebob. they claim to be nonpartisan, but support right-wing views (extreme right wing in thrust's case), and only bother to be anti-establishment because it's the only political posture one can take that involves no actual knowledge about what goes on in washington - just mere perpetual dissatisfaction that things go on in washington.

Looks like it's a win for Toomey, unless a truckload of Sestak votes appears at the last moment. So. fucking. Close. I guess Toomey got out the white supremacist vote in middle PA in record numbers. Way to go, champ.

LOL@Fox News. They projected a guy in CT will win for Governor when he is down by 4 points at the moment.

Republicans need to hire the people who ran the get out the vote campaign in Florida for the national campaign in 2012.

Nevada results are getting delayed.

Democracy just doesn't work (probably because people are too dumb in general...)

Looks like we get to recycle Ancient Jerry Brown and Barbara Boxer... :headache:

Prop 19 is down too...

Prop 23 is down... ugh...

and...

Prop 25 is passing.

What a complete disaster! This state is beyond hope. Time to pack my bags.
I can't see why they haven't called Illinois yet.
IL is very hot/cold. there will be large districts of strong D, and districts of strong R. so maybe the last 6% make them think it will become closer.

I am kinda glad 25 is passing, especially with how last years may revision went, although I do wonder how it will affect the big 5 of our budget. Only time will tell. BTW what one do you guys want to pass 20 or 27, or do you want them both to fail. Yay bitter pill initiatives.

I worked the election in PA today, yet I also berated all of the politicians running in a letter to the editor that was published yesterday saying how due to their borderline harassment with robo calls and spam mail I wasn't going to vote for anyone.

However I turned out to be a hypocrite(again), since I voted for Lou Barletta for the sole reason that he 'wasn't Paul Kanjorsky'. I have an extreme distaste for long standing incumbents and I feel that it should be 'one and done'. Anyone trying to make a 'career' in political office needs to be ousted.

People are already calling Boxer the winner in CA. No way is that going to change.

I want to hear more about this power failure in Nevada. I'm very curious.

Yes on 20, No on 27. Didn't hear a good reason to vote otherwise.

I also voted Yes on 19, but I didn't expect it to pass and I don't know who did.
I weep for my state tonight. We were damned either way.
Aren't we always?
Also, so far a convicted felon has 15% of the vote for my district's house seat...
As opposed to the felons who haven't been caught who got the other 85%? ;)
Kind of curious to see what will happen in 2012 when people realize that the Republicans didn't do any better. Third parties?
Everyone will go back and vote Democrat. Then, in four years, they'll realize that Democrats didn't do any better and they'll go back and vote Republican.

Yup - I mean, my support for gay marriage is *sooo* far right-wing. And Lord knows that the idea of gays in the military is somewhere in that Pledge for America. Let's not forget my absolute apathy toward abortion (and the fact that I 100% disagree with the government being allowed to selectively omit funding for it in any kind of health care programs.) And my desire to require religious establishments to pay taxes like everyone else... that's usually associated with the "right-wing". My desire to end farm subsidies gets a lot of support at the Republican Convention.

Yup, totally right-wing.

In 2012, Obama can't run against a do-nothing Congress since the Democrats still control the Senate (numbers wise at least), as well as somewhat control of the SCOTUS. It's a perfect situation for the Republicans because if he won't work with them, it becomes really easy for a Republican candidate to run on a platform of 'uniter not a divider'

Damn 75k votes made the difference for Toomey. Crazy shit. Oh well, Wall Street needs some representation in the Senate too amirite?

The Marcellus Shale coalition needs some representation in state gov't amirite? Go Corbett!

what?!?!?!

I woke up this morning to an ad of Witman's bullshit of... "what would you rather have and old fart or an idiot like me trying to buy my way though to the governor's seat" I look up and see her ugly cunt filling my 46in. HDTV. It's the first time I wished I didn't have that big a tv... If I wasn't voting against this cunt already I definitely would be.

Anyone that votes for her is an idiot...

Yes... I did vote in favor for weed (no I don't do it). People will do it whether it's legal or not... Why not try to make a shit load of money off of it since the idiots in Sacto can't get their asses in gear...

seriously. between brown, boxer, matsui (my rep), and props 23, 24, & 25... my gf and i are hoping we can get out before the boat sinks. shes already talking about getting her CPA in another state other than california and im wondering how easy it would be to get a job in another state.

yes, we have been a joke the last few years because of our budget woes. but the only thing 25 will do is make it easier for the awful awful california legislature to pass awful awful budgets.

yes on 20 no on 27 also.

yeah, 19 really tanked in the last couple of weeks. i think a big part of it was arnold decriminalizing pot and the feds saying they would step in if 19 passed.

I don't agree with Feingold very often on economic matters, but I'm not happy to see such an opponent of foreign interventionism and civil liberties violations get bounced by a garden variety neocon. Non-interventionist socialist > Corporate MIC cheerleader

Alan Grayson falls under the same category. I can only hope Rand Paul will be as critical of the Fed as Grayson is/was, and fill in for Feingold on the PATRIOT Act, foreign intervention, wiretapping, etc.

I don't think so. I really think we are at the point where third parties will start to make a foothold. Because things won't get better in two years and people will be even more pissed off the next time elections roll around.

Look at IAmTheCheapestAssGamer. Now replace "incumbent" with "politician" and I believe that is the direction we are heading. (Which is kind of scary when you think about the wackjobs/corporate whores that have been crawling out lately.)

Just because you don't agree with your side on certain wedge issues, that doesn't mean you are in the middle. Myke isn't in the middle on internet censorship because he doesn't like that current bill and claims that he doesn't care either way (when he clearly does)

I don't agree with everything on the left and I try to keep an open mind about everything but you can pretty much park me directly in that section. To say I'm not would be lying to myself.

I don't claim to be "in the middle" though.

I'm pretty far-right when it comes to money/spending and individual rights, but I'm pretty far-left when it comes to social and foreign policy.

Isn't that an oxymoron

On a side note, I am getting kinda tired of having like 4 threads all dealing with party politics. Can't we just have one central thread for politics and only create new threads for issues like the piracy one. Seriously this thread, classypub, tea-party thread, curb stomp, tea party expresser, and pension can all pretty much be rolled up into one thread. Meh, just tired of threads referencing other threads and being confused until I get to the other thread. Whatever.

Feingold was an idiot for not running for President back in 2008. He was a shoe-in with his anti-iraq war vote. Now he will be unemployed. At least that resulted in our first black President, so thank god.

The biggest loser tonight is Sarah Palin. Her racist teabaggers lost big as expected. Now let's hope she'll be slapped down once and for all.

How do you figure that? Rand Paul, the SC Governor, et cetera... and speaking of being offensive: how about assholes like you that call us teabaggers?
