Can I use the $5 monthly coupon on gift cards?

Yes you can in store but not online please note not all gift cards will apply to this rule.

I have a $XX.xx pre-owned reward certificate, and I want to use it on a B2G1 transaction. Should I?
It depends. If the three games are equal value, do not use your certificate. The value of the certificate would be applied to the free game, which would not benefit you. If one game is more expensive, you can use the certificate to make it the same value as the other two games ($5 reward certificate applied to transaction with two $10 games and one $15 game would make all three games $10).

TERMINOLOGY AND LINGO:
ASL/SL: Assistant Store Leader, Store Leader; manager positions at GS.
B2G1: Buy two, get one free.
GS: GameStop
JD: Junior detective, an employee who is out to get someone
LP: Loss Prevention; this is the department that actually bans accounts after being flagged.
TC/TiC: Trade credit.
TIV/TV: Trade in value, or what a game currently trades for. When posting a TV for a game, always use the base value.

It's okay! HOPE will get us thru, just keep on believing! $410 TIV was so GOOD tho.

I’m playing castlevania on my PS4 with $410 in my pocket waiting for the next good sale on the regular PS5 or the Pro. I could already get a new PS5 for equivalent at least, and the discounts are just going to keep getting better. No regrets, I can be patient. Castlevania collection would have been no better on a PS5. I know we are talking about GameStop here, you never know what kinda mistake they could come up with to lose money next, but anyone holding out for better than $410, for what was now going to become the old model, the odds are not in your favor.

wow, mwt live and nobody talking about it, this place is dead. i guess it makes sense, even with the boost mario odyssey is only $18 base. mario 3d all stars $45 base, some newer stuff (dragon ball games? silent hill 2) up to $35 base.

I did notice the boosts, but I didn't get an email, so I honestly didn't connect the dots lol

Starting to wonder if I should go ahead and trade in my extra copy of Breath of the Wild. I found a special edition at a pawn shop for $20, so I got it knowing I could get at least that much for my regular copy of the game. But $19.80 is the highest it's been in a while now.

I mean we’re about a month away from Black Friday. GameStop probably knows which Switch games they’ll be allowed to put on sale for $30 this year. So they are cutting values on those ahead of time. Breath of the Wild seems to always make that list.

Weak bumps this weekend. But since I had a +30% offer expiring 11/2 my guess is that this weekend will be the best time to trade before expiry. I can confirm that scanning the barcode of the offer worked on a trade done on my active pro account, even though the offer was originally sent to a different, expired account.

traded in some old worthless stuff and a couple bumped items, guy was so slow. He would stop and look at the computer after he scanned every single item. then he told me this was his third day on the job, and he was by himself. He didn't know how to add a preorder to the transaction and tried to get me to swipe my card before he did (would have lost about $40 if i did). i told him just to put it on a card because i didn't trust him to add it to my remaining balance on my ps5 pro preorder. I can't imagine why gamestop is failing so hard.

In the gaming community of yesteryear, the employee would be known as a "newb."

Edit: Or more precisely "noob."

Reminder that if you have any of those extra coupons, they expire at the end of the week. The 25% off a preowned game stacked with other coupons like my $5 monthly pro coupon, and the preowned discount. So it can add up.

Third day on the job? At Gamestop that's halfway between new employee and fired employee
the sad thing is that statement is not far from being the truth, I probably stop at gamestop at least 3-4 times a month to get my free pokemon packs, check out clearance stuff, and look for any retro gems and I never see the same person, used to recognize employees and they would recognize me as a repeat customer, and even had a rapport with a few of them

I've got a ps5 pro ordered. Should I trade in my ps5 for $291 or wait for a trade in deal? I'm not worried about the money, I just hate to wait and see the trade in value go down even further.

That's such a small amount for something you bought for $500 plus tax. You do realize you are worried about the money right? Why else would you state that you would hate for the trade value to go down further if you weren't worried about the money?

It sounds like he's worried about the value of the PS5 and not the actual money.

i'm not super rich. Maybe have about 120k in the bank. I just hate waiting and missing out on recouping some of the cash i spent.

If you need to use a working PS5 in order to upgrade to a Pro for ~ +$400 then that is not worth it. or you shouldn't afford it.

That is such poor value.

It also means that if you need the console trade-in in order to make the purchase, then money decisions are important for you. This is a particularly bad tradeoff. A person doesn't need a Pro if you need to subsidize it and lose that much value.

Why not look for a game or a collector's edition something you can sell for $300 instead? Sell high, buy low. Be able to sell an item that has some crazy weird outlier value. Most of us own a couple of very valuable games. Use those.

At this point, I would cancel the pre-order. The trade-off is just bad for mere marginal performance gains. That $700+ would be better invested in a PS6.

Yeah, that amount of liquid assets on hand puts you well ahead of the vast majority of the population of not just the United States but the whole world. You may not think you’re “super rich” but you’re looking like Elon Musk compared to the person who just got paid today and is choosing between paying rent and buying food for their kids but you threw that amount in there to humble brag and/or troll anyway so it’s probably a waste of time to even call this out.

At any rate, GameStop is definitely taking advantage of people offloading regular PS5s for the Pro right now, I would be shocked if they don’t bump the trade in value back up closer to Black Friday. But even still, absolute best case scenario I’d imagine is it goes back up to $400 or so.

If you can, I say wait it out. That's what I'm doing. Just on principle. The current value is a insult.

You can throw the PS5 up on marketplace in the meantime for a higher price incase someone bites before you decide to trade it in

I'm a pro member and have a coupon for $30 extra trade in credit for console that expires Nov 2nd. Check your account.

Also, I visited a local pawn shop recently and they had an abundance of disc version PS5 for $348. After seeing that, it seriously made me consider just trading in my PS5 instead of goofing around trying to sell it for slightly more than GameStop trade in value.

I can only imagine the amount of backlash if the base PS5 trade-in value bumps up around Black Friday if people trade-in their consoles now out of FOMO. I highly doubt GS wants any more bad publicity on top of bad publicity they've already garnered themselves. Also, it just doesn't make any business financial sense because well..."Sell high, buy low" as CAGger Nothing- has wisely expressed.

Lmao they won't care

Gamestop needs to run a trade promo soon to have inventory for black Friday. Trade values across the board are so low. It doesn't seem like stores are getting many PS5 pros so no real incentive to run a trade up promo for that though. I imagine they are swimming in PS5s from the $400+ value a month ago.

Yeah, they have over 17k, just for original model.

It does look like GameStop Canada is running a promo.

Being able to cover rent for 4 years is considered rich nowadays? Because that's how much it would cost in a major metropolitan city like NYC or Los Angeles. It depends on where you live. It's certainly a lot if you live in a state where minimum wage is still $8-10. But in a bad enough medical emergency or if he's simply unable to work for a year, he would just burn through the money as if he held it to a lighter. It's not like he can just quit his job and go traveling. You don't even know how he budgets to have that much saved up. Maybe he never eats out, never goes to restaurants or movie theaters, doesn't date, and Netflix and video games are his only entertainment expenses.

Sell it to a friend. 350 or even 400 my boy
The thing is...the friend(s) want a PS5 Pro lol. Why bother spending $350 to $400 for outdated tech and expired warranties when the late-gen refresh is right around the corner for another $350 to $400? More power to them because I think they would then be in a better position to trade-in for a PS6 at high TIV down the line than those of us who are still hanging on to the base/slim PS5 for whatever reasons.

Anyone else submitted any Pokemon cards for grading? I submitted a couple cards exactly 2 weeks ago and it still shows as Order Created. I called my store and asked about it but they said that they are still waiting on the word from corporate on when to ship them out to PSA.

I just hope that an employee didn't steal them 😕

I am just tired of Gamestop at this point. Went to pick up my Life is Strange and they said the game is still in box. Same thing happened with Vision of Mana and I didn't get my game for another week.
