GS FAQ

Where is the weekly ad?
They ended the weekly ad for more rotation of deals. Please check the homepage and deal link for the current deals.

I can't find a trade in value for an item?
It might not be tradable or calling a store to find the value may be the only option.

How many copies of a game can I trade in?
You are allowed to trade in 4 copies of the same game (same system) within a rolling 30 day period.

Are there trade limits?
Yes, $500 cash minus some electronic trade ins and or $2000 trade credit in a rolling 30 day period.

Can I use the $5 monthly coupon on gift cards?

Yes you can in store but not online please note not all gift cards will apply to this rule.

I have a $XX.xx pre-owned reward certificate, and I want to use it on a B2G1 transaction. Should I?
It depends. If the three games are equal value, do not use your certificate. The value of the certificate would be applied to the free game, which would not benefit you. If one game is more expensive, you can use the certificate to make it the same value as the other two games ($5 reward certificate applied to transaction with two $10 games and one $15 game would make all three games $10).

TERMINOLOGY AND LINGO:
ASL/SL: Assistant Store Leader, Store Leader; manager positions at GS.
B2G1: Buy two, get one free.
GS: GameStop
JD: Junior detective, an employee who is out to get someone
LP: Loss Prevention; this is the department that actually bans accounts after being flagged.
TC/TiC: Trade credit.
TIV/TV: Trade in value, or what a game currently trades for. When posting a TV for a game, always use the base value.

No, but I typically avoid doing anything other than a simple straightforward purchase online. Gamestop is just terribly, terribly unreliable for anything other than that.
And yet...some of us are having the most anti-consumer experience even after placing said online orders. This is partially the reason why I rather drive miles brick-n-mortar. Sure it costs me wear and tear as well as my sanity and lifespan...but I get to see what I'm actually going to buy and have ample time to make returns and/or exchanges while the B2G1F promo was active. Plus, I am extremely picky with my Pokemon cards like I am with Funko Pops. And that feeling of "Ooo! Just found something that even online doesn't have in-stock!"

I won gamestop roulette in the worst way this past week, I got a fake ps1 game from online order via Grapevine warehouse. Obvious fake looking at label and doesn't work in ps1 or ps2 system, unrecognized disc. Disc data layer is black, so that was interesting to make it look more legit. I am curious if it's a one off or more fakes in their sitting in their inventory.

I personally stopped buying retro from Gamestop.com after getting some fake SNES carts. It's just not worth the headache for me personally. The employees are just not trained (at all?) to spot fakes

I've had some amazing luck, but lately not so much. Talking with the employee where I returnd it basically said that training has been minimal, and some people working at stores weren't even born when some of these games were released, so they have no idea. They said they even got a fake ps5 game in once direct from the warehouse to their store. I assume same type of thing with fake disc with printed label.

Yeah I've gotten some pretty bad fakes, particularly the Pokemon GBA games. If you're like under 25 working there, you've probably never seen a GBA game in your entire life. So it's hard to blame them and I can understand. What I don't understand is some of the other stuff like accepting trade ins of the wrong region, that should never happen since you can spot the rating on the case and disc. I've gotten quite a few PAL/JPN games in the mail over the years.

Don’t underestimate outright apathy bordering on disgruntledness. The company severely underpays their employees for the amount of stress they put them through.

Whether it’s sales metrics bordering on being considered unpaid commission or cutting staffing so far back there’s often only 1 employee in the store at a time, which arguably even endangers their safety as an increased target for robbery.

Then a counterfeit game walks through the door and you can choose to avoid all conflict altogether by just taking it in and letting the company deal with the fallout? Well, why not.

Has anyone tried returning anything from their B2 G1 free haul yet? The order confirmation email seems to indicate that they would be reimbursed at their original non-sale price (aka buy 3 games for 29.99, each game would give back 29.99)

When I had the defective issue I mentioned earlier in this thread i brought my whole b2g1 free order with me expecting to need to return and rebuy, but they were able to ring up the game as a return separately and it rang up at preowned price. The employee had to manually adjust the refund to be at a pro price when ringing up the replacement such that it didn’t result in a negative balance. This may be due to being an online order so they all shipped separately.

Finally had some luck with Gamestop. NFL 25, ROR, DD2 ps5 all arrived complete. Even had a ROR code unused, astrobot as well. Only one incomplete was crisis core with no artwork. Gamestop won BF this year for me and PS direct I guess with the 30th anniversary portal and controller lol now im broke

Varys per store & employee. I had returned 1 game and received the full value of the game. My paper invoice didn't have all 3 titles on it.

Got my 6x under $20 B2G1F games and 5 of them honestly look like they were new converted to used, and the 6th was in a generic case.

My 3x ~$50 B2G1F are less stellar... 1 game only, 1 with case, and 1 still waiting pickup.

Signed up for Pro again on 11/30 because it was $14.99. Didn't get Dec reward, so contacted customer service and they gave me 5k points.

Dec reward then shows up today. Bad karma to use it? Even worse to double dip (in store first right)?
If you sign up or renew for Pro during the last week in a month, you won't get the monthly coupon until a few days after the first day of the new month. I'd say you have bad karma now since if you have to contact customer service again in the future, like if you have an issue for an online order, then your account is more likely to be flagged. Website issues are already pervasive, and flagged accounts will be denied access.

There appear to be some bumped TIVs right now—highlights include Silent Hill 2 Remake at $35, Persona 3 Reload (PS5) at $23, and Cyberpunk Ultimate (PS5) at $25.
silent hill and cyberpunk are just back to pre black friday values (no idea why cyberpunk is worth so much for basically the vanilla game) but persona 3 reload is quite a bit higher than it was before. too bad not much else seems to have bounced back yet.

Its not rare but pretty much like FF7R, the CP2077 disc is PS5 native patched. Not having to download bandwith helps.

Silent Hill 2 was actually $30 base pre Black Friday, I had already beat the game and was going to trade it but decided to hold off because $30 felt too low. Didn't realize it would be selling for $30 on BF and figured I was screwed. Just got $45 for it towards a pre order

$45?? Wait really?? Really tempting to do the credit route instead of selling second hand

any games worth pre ordering aside from MH, Wu kong?

Wish BMWK had a XSX release, need that slight boost in CPU+GPU power over the PS5. I also really dig the cover arts on XSX cases; Wukong wouldn't have his hair trimmed. Hopefully, the PS5 physical release also releases a performance stability patch update.

Man I love the X-men Legends/Ultimate Marvel games. I really wish they’d do an Ultimate Marvel 4.

Got my last item in from my order in over the weekend. I ordered a used vsett stand for my PS5 Slim and it took a long time to get here despite shipping from somewhere in my city. I opened the box and there a brand new stand in the box. I’m pretty excited about that.

4 more games in, 4 more complete. i really didnt think i was going to get the packages at all, left Kansas City, Kansas on December 4th and didn't show up in Kansas City, Missouri until December 9th. I thought for sure they were lost but i guess they just took a scenic route through Canada or something.

Any more high value flips this week?
