Where is the weekly ad?
They ended the weekly ad for more rotation of deals. Please check the homepage and deal link for the current deals.

I can't find a trade in value for an item?
It might not be tradable or calling a store to find the value may be the only option.

How many copies of a game can I trade in?
You are allowed to trade in 4 copies of the same game (same system) within a rolling 30 day period.

Are there trade limits?
Yes, $500 cash minus some electronic trade ins and or $2000 trade credit in a rolling 30 day period.

Can I use the $5 monthly coupon on gift cards?

Yes you can in store but not online please note not all gift cards will apply to this rule.

I have a $XX.xx pre-owned reward certificate, and I want to use it on a B2G1 transaction. Should I?
It depends. If the three games are equal value, do not use your certificate. The value of the certificate would be applied to the free game, which would not benefit you. If one game is more expensive, you can use the certificate to make it the same value as the other two games ($5 reward certificate applied to transaction with two $10 games and one $15 game would make all three games $10).

TERMINOLOGY AND LINGO:
ASL/SL: Assistant Store Leader, Store Leader; manager positions at GS.
B2G1: Buy two, get one free.
GS: GameStop
JD: Junior detective, an employee who is out to get someone
LP: Loss Prevention; this is the department that actually bans accounts after being flagged.
TC/TiC: Trade credit.
TIV/TV: Trade in value, or what a game currently trades for. When posting a TV for a game, always use the base value.

My initial thought was you’re being sarcastic but in this thread I can’t tell anymore
I feel like yellow font should be automatic for sarcasm in such a case. But yeah I wouldn't be surprised if thats true. Though kinda ick that anyone would want to own a game about a child star from a failed spinoff that later turned sex offender.

Cashed out my last $17 in trade credit from the January trade in deals.... which might have been January 2022, actually. I'm not sure.  Nintendo eShop credit time...

Nintendo will still be here in a year. Gamestop, on the other hand...

People sometimes say, "Why do you hate on Gamestop so much? What do you mean "you'd rather they didn't exist" ? you shop there don't you?."

Yeah, I would like that. Cuz it was so much worse when we had a couple dozen different retro and mom & pop used video game stores in our metro right? Until Gamestop rolled into town, bought up locations in every single suburb's strip mall area, including FOUR at the Mall of America alone, overextended themselves, and pushed everyone else out of business. Yeah, it would be so much worse if we had dozens of unique, interesting places to go visit instead of this soulless corporate shithole.

Gosh what would I do without them? Buy games ANYWHERE else I guess.
Let's not pretend "mom n pop" places are that much better.

They always charge way more, and the staff is just as bad as GameStop staff (maybe just in a different way).

Would rather buy stuff off eBay any day of the week than give business to a local place that is sustaining their business by marking stuff up 100% (or more) over what it's actually worth.

I got some bitcoin. It’s not widely adopted at all. People just speculate on it. I don’t know a single person that uses it as an actual currency.

I’ve bought stuff with Litecoin so I’m not opposed to using it as currency.
when the great reset happens and money has no value everyone will be using bitcoin

I forget..do the online pur certs work or not work now? And can they be used for in store pickup?

Only have 10k left to use and wanted to possibly double dip the $5 this month (with the $10 pur cert).

They don’t work in combination with any other discount online. If the item shows a discount in the cart, e.g pro 5% discount, the bigger discount will apply.

Don't take this as confirmation, but someone on Reddit posted that trade credit was unaffected by the new gift card policy.
It appears that gift cards are still working for PSN/Xbox/eShop codes online, so it's possible that they haven't made the change yet. Hopefully we get official confirmation at some point.

My store was closed because their Internet is down. Could just be my area, but I don't want anyone else to waste their time on a fruitless trip. There's nothing posted about it on the subreddit.

I was able to use my Monthly $5 on a Steam card in store and paid the balance in trade credit without any issues today.[attachment=38301:Gamestop TC On Steam Card.jpg]

OK was able to stack the 5 monthly with $10 pur cert. Lost the 5% pro off but it was a sub 20 game so double dipping the 5 monthly for an online instore pickup was the better deal.

GameStop Pro rewards are about to get more useless

GameStop’s recently revamped Pro memberships are also getting worse starting December 1, based on an email seemingly from store operations specialist Bryan Perez outlining new changes that was shared on the subreddit. Starting December 1, the program’s free monthly $5 coupon will no longer work for gift cards or digital goods. Welcome points benefits for new members will go down from 10,000 ($10) to 5,000 points ($5) and renewing members will get nothing instead of the $5 that was previously offered. The annual price will remain $25, however, after it was raised from $15 earlier this year. Why are we changing the $5 Monthly reward?” reads the email. “To improve the profitability of the Pro program.”

Lol, if they do stop taking trade credit for Xbox credit then I'll never set foot in a store ever again. In the past 3 years I think the only thing I've ever used trade credit on was Xbox GCs. In fact, when BB stopped allowing store credit to be used on GCs like these was the death knell for them as well. Surprised it's taking both companies this long to bleed out TBH.

“Why are we changing the $5 Monthly Reward?”
”To improve the profitability of the Pro program
“We’re hemorrhaging cash and not sure how much longer can make it, look forward to some changes coming soon to your benefits compensation soon!”

Sorry to see this benfit finally go, but it is a good business move on Gamestop's part.  Once again it's been a great run and it's hard to be mad at a company that literally paid for my family's Switch/PS5/XSX and a bunch of games/virtual credit via flips.  I'll plan on grabbing the last of my virtual credit tonight (hopefully via trade credit payment).

I'll be curious to see in the coming months how this impacts everyone's buying habits.  I've gotten very used to buying digital because I could always get currency so cheap.  I doubt I'll be finding much use for the $5 coupons, but hopefully a few year-end sales give us some good opportunities for a few deals.

Thanks again to everyone for the flip ideas and updates in here.  It really is very useful info

There seems to be a mondo new feature on the GS website - you can check each store's inventory individually now! The bad part is that you have to browse manually since the search bar defaults to website search and there doesn't seem to be a way to restrict to a specific store, but this is a welcome improvement. Unless I misunderstood the new design.

Could you explain a little more on this? I can't seem to find any way to filter on store from the site

Depends a lot on the mom and pop shop, as while some of them are owned by hobbyists that have no business running a business, there's some that are just the absolute best at what they do, know their markets, and even better tend to actually learn the related skills tangential to their business.

Good mom and pop game shops know how to clean and repair consoles and how to rehab and refurbish game media. They also frequently have a better curated inventory and a deeper product knowledge than people who work at corporate stores.

I'll happily pay a premium to be able to count on the fact that I don't have to worry about something I buy from them being counterfeit, having bugs or vermin, or consistently not being in good repair. Sure, probably not 100%, but most stores that aren't completely dumb aren't asking for 100% over ebay prices unless they know it's something that's exceedingly rare and they're willing to take the time to find a buyer at that price because they know they won't source another one quickly or easily.

Nevermind that so many people (collectors especially) whine about how they think just about everything is 100% overpriced.

I can only speak to the full website, not app or mobile site. On the main page, hit "Menu" on the left with the three lines. Hit the store location and it will take you to a page with the inventory of that store. To change stores, hit "Change Store" to the right of the store's name, not the regular store locator in the upper right of the website.

Edit: There's a promo to celebrate the new feature. $5 off when you make a BOPS order of $15+. The usual restrictions probably apply. https://media.gamestop.com/i/gamestop/BOPS_Promo_NoCTA_WK40_1736x96_Skinny_Blade_D.png

I met a newer DM recently who tried to convince me, a random customer to them, to renew my pro status. I don't buy used, I don't trade in games. I only buy new and never at MSRP. I only got pro last year due to buying over $500 of product and the membership paid for itself when it was $15. Now at $25, without the ability to double dip the $5 monthly coupon online and in store, I never bothered to renew. Now if digital currency isn't even allowed at all, that program is going to be 100% dead.

A banner is on the site promoting $5 off a store pickup order $15 or more.

It combines with the monthly $5 off coupon for $10 off Mario Wonder for me.

Now to gamble and see if the double dip instore and online with the $5  coupon still works.

If a store has only one in stock this method is still busted. I tried to buy something at a store right now and it relocated to a different one. GameStop just doing GameStop things.

It should. I used it to preorder Mario RPG, along with cashing out my points, yesterday, after using it in store for an eshop card

There is a work around for Gamestop Gift Cards not working on POSA. Requires an employee willing to do it though. POS allows it. For those that remember the work around when they banned trade credit from working on Amazon gift cards a few years back. The same method works now just in the reverse manner.

Loophole could be closed at any point in time though.

If I am being realistic. I can think of multiple ways to get around the limitation. Just depends on whether you feel it is worth the trouble of doing them which overall likely isn't worth it.

I was able to use a gift card to buy eshop credit online. Oddly, the desktop site had the "Place Order" button greyed out and wouldn't let me check out, but the mobile site worked just fine.

Question: I've still been getting the physical Game Informer in the mail with my membership until now. If I go to renew it are they going to force me to only get it digitally or will I still get it in the mail?

They no longer include physical Game Informer with membership. They do sell them in store now though.

I found this out the other day, and this was the most tragic change to me.
Yeah, I was considering resubscribing when they sent out those coupons for for subscriptions, but this killed it for me. The employee tryed to convince me I could just use the $5 coupon on it & buy it in store. But since you can't use the $5 coupon at pos anymore, she said I would have to come back a different day. No Thank You

I cancelled my auto renewal which was due in 2 weeks. I also double dipped my $5 coupons for the last time. Grabbed a $10 psn card in store then used it again online for an in store pickup (stacks with $5 off 15 in store pickup)
