Why don't you 3 shake it up a bit and start picking teams that don't play against Detroit ;)
Actually, I haven't picked against the Lions since week 9. My last 5 picks have been San Diego (vs. K.C.), Miami (vs. Oakland), Pittsburgh (vs. Cincinnati), Dallas (vs. Seattle), and Tennessee (vs. Cleveland)

I'm going against Detroit this week specifically because I'm getting tired of shaking things up.

Just a word of warning, that's a divisional game and they tend to be tougher. Factor in the Chargers record of 5-8, the Thigpen to Gonzalez connection, and San Diego being one of the worst teams to defend against the TE this year, and I'd stay far far away. What do I know though, I was eliminated weeks ago ;)

I might take a harder matchup. I may switch my pick to Panthers over Denver. I think i'd be the first person to pick against a winning team :D

Actually I picked against alot of winning teams because picking against the Rams,Browns, and Loins gets old after 3 weeks.

Wait, you're out? Ok after I read this I think i'm going to rethink my strategy about picking against a winning team now :D

I honestly wonder why you care whether which team you pick is a winning or losing team. All I care about is winning the tourney, I could care less how I get there.

Ok new pick for myself.

I'm in it to win it as well. Just some friendly shit talking. Getting up in your heads.

I just wanted to point out that I was picking against someone besides the norm you playas pick against each and every week. ;)

Good luck everyone including the Lions!

I like this pick a lot more than San Diego. Denver has the worst defense against the run and Carolina just ran for 301 yards against one of the BEST rushing defenses in the league. Not to mention Denver just lost their fifth (!) RB to IR and their current starting RB was selling cell phones in a mall a few weeks ago.
So is it just me or do I count 5 teams picking Indy this week including myself?
The only reason not to pick Indy is that you already picked them.
I'm hoping for the upset of the season that finally ends this.
Agreed. I'm sure it could happen this week since no one is expecting it. Even if I had Indy left I still wouldn't pick them. I'm hoping for that upset suckas.
So is it just me or do I count 5 teams picking Indy this week including myself?
I count six. Everyone except zewone and pimpinc333. It will either be a great week for those guys, or yet another week where (at the very least) the majority of us move on. I don't see any slam dunk picks like this week's Colt's game over the next two weeks, at least among the teams I still have to pick from, so it could get tricky right at the end.

Colts aren't doing much better. They are winning but it's closer than I thought. and hey Redskins just scored so 7-17! Haha

Get your picks in.

FYI here's how we'll do the playoffs.

1) Pick any playoff team for the week.
2) Pick a score. (Duplicate scores on the same team are not allowed. The player that posts a duplicate will be disqualified.)
3) If multiple players pick the same team, the winner will be decided by score.
4) Player closest to the actual score as a summation will win.
5) In the event of a tie, both players survive.

Example

Player A) Indianapolis 17-13 = 30
Player B) Indianapolis 21 - 6 = 27
Player C) Indianapolis 24-16 = 40
Player D) Indianapolis 36-27 = 63

Actual score is Indianpolis 21-14 = 35

Therefore B and D lose while A and C go on to survive.

Hmm, so it actually makes sense to pick a playoff pick that noone else does? Or we could be ballsy and try to eliminate other players? So from what I understand we pick the winners. and if they dont win we are eliminated and then we deal with the score?

Yea so lets say everyone picks the Titans to win and I take lets say the Giants to win. Do i need to go by score if im the only person picking that team?

Score only matters if multiple people pick the same team.

In other words, you have a choice, if you see two people have picked indy, you can pick as third. But,

A) Indy HAS to win
and
B) You have to be closest to the actual score as a total.

Alternatively, you could pick a different team that no one else has picked. Still post a score. But if no one else picks it, they just need to win out.

So it's a weighing. Do I pick what everyone else is picking because I know they'll win, but I may lose on the points matchup. Or do I pick another team for an upset or that's a closer match because no one else has picked them. If you're the only player that has picked a team, then all that matters is that team must win.

If four people pick Indy and Indy loses, all four lose.

The team MUST WIN and IF MULTIPLE PEOPLE pick the same team then a single winner is DECIDED BY SCORE.

Also, remember that deadlines are still in effect,. So you can change your team, your score, whatever, up until the closing deadline. Again, it's not a hard deadline. it's up until I say the pool is closed.

Let me put it another way. Say we have six people left by the first playoff weekend. If everyone picks Indy AND they win, then someone is going to win the pool that weekend based on score. If indy lost, everyone would survive until the next week since everyone lost.

At least with this rule, it promotes an eventual single winner. It also prevents too much team crowding. because with eight teams, it doesn't make as much sense for everyone to pick the same team. So I expect the picks to be spread between two or three teams with acouple head to head matchups based on score.

Also, remember, if everyone loses, then everyone survives to the next week. So if there's a major wildcard upset weekend, it's possible everyone will make it to the next week.

But this is the first time reaching the playoffs so thios is still a bit of an experiment.

Who said we last til playoffs? There are still 2 weeks left. ;) Haha, anyways I am switching my pick over to the Houston Texans. After Detroit's showing against the Colts I realize they are desperate to win.

Ok this sounds good. Thanks for clearing it up better AA. We can pick any of the playoffs teams correct? Even if we already picked them? Just want to clear this up as well.

Alrighty. I think I may be picking a different team now. Should have my new pick in before deadline.

I was wondering about this as well, although I assume everyone starts with a clean slate in the playoffs as far as picking teams goes. Otherwise you could potentially have someone unable to pick any of the teams still playing.

On that same note, does the "Pick a team only once" rule still apply in the playoffs? For example, if I pick Indianapolis in the first round of the playoffs, and they win (and I survive the score tiebreaker) are they then unavailable to me for the rest of the playoffs?

That's funny, Muff1nM4n. Sorry to disappoint you. I have this image in my mind of you tracking my picks for the past several weeks, going "Nope, he still didn't use it. I think maybe he doesn't know he has it..."

I would have been thinking the same thing if you were still sitting on your bye, too.
