The "Alberto Del Rio" Wrestling Thread

Going back to what was being talked about with the belt unifications, I think they'll keep the Divas title and shelve the Women's title since the WWE calls all of their women "divas". It just makes more sense from the WWE's perspective.

I hope they keep the World Heavyweight Championship belt, but that's more of a nostalgia thing on my part. I'd hate to see a belt with that much history behind it get retired.

What Wrestling podcasts(with RSS or XML feeds--I'm a Zune user) do you guys listen to? The only show I listen to/know about is Pro Wrestling Insider.
 
I think I like the fact that they don't put a belt on CM Punk, because he really doesn't need one to carry a feud. Let's keep it that way.

I'm holding judgement out for "Del Rio". I think they can hugely fuck this up and knowing WWE, they probably will.
 
It kinda puts the whole ADR thing in perspective. They could take away the cars and pyro shower and ring announcer, and he'd just be another guy wrestling on Superstars. :[

Oh, and Brown and Benjamin kinda always sucked, though. The crowds never gave a fuck about either of them. MVP was the real deal, but for whatever reason, WWE decided that they didn't want to push him anymore. Bastards.
 
While I've always found the actual thread title irrelevant, I do have to ask a question... Lance Cade gets a thread, but Luna doesn't?

I wouldn't be against having a multi-person tribute title, like "The Lance Cade, Luna Vachon Memorial Wrestling Thread".
 
On the subject of unifying the belts, I'm all for it. The brand extension needs to go away, but is also somewhat necessary for the logistical issues involved with travel and a bloated talent roster.

I actually had to look up who held the IC belt, and I still can't remember the actual names of the two top belts.
 
I'll miss the giant WHC belt if they do indeed do away with it. I kinda wish Flair was still with the WWE so they could gift it to him as the "forever after World Heavyweight Champion" ala Funk being the lifetime ECW champion.

Joey Styles couldn't. I always thought it was funny that the most "prestigious" title in WWE was whichever one was on Raw at the time. WWE > the entire world.

Also, for what it's worth, since Rey took his mask off in WCW, traditionally, he was never supposed to wear it again. I read Del Rio complained that they made him take his mask off, and with good reason, if he doesn't make it here his career is trashed in Mexico.
 
Alberto didn't lose his mask in a match where it was on the line. I thought that was a stipulation to the you can never wear your mask again traditions. Psicosis took his mask off and put it back on because he didn't lose a match with it on the line.

CM Punk can wear his mask again too because he didn't lose it in a match.

All Del Rio has done is record the same vignette 14 times and have, what, 2 matches? I like the people proclaiming "He beat Rey clean!". Pssst, it's pro wrestling, it's all a work. Luna's death has hit kinda close to home because her son, Van, was on my season of HK and I still talk to him often. She lost all her shit in a fair a few months ago and I thought that was the worst. This beats that.

I don't think NXT has a timeslot for October yet, probably easier to fold a Divas NXT segment into Raw/Smackdown if need be.
 
I was just going to ask about that... if anything, an all Diva season seems like a WWE.com kind of thing.

Again, why don't they use Goldust more?

NXT is scheduled for 10:00 next Tuesday. The NXT Diva roster (ugh) is smaller, I think, so the third season may well be shorter and thankfully so.

Yeah, when I saw Percy laid out, I thought the face rookies were helping Kaval....

As a side note, I like how you guys were freaking out because Kaval mentioned total nonstop action in his little rap a few weeks ago.
