I noticed that this thread has been dead for a while so I contacted the author and she agreed to let me take over...so we are starting a minty fresh, brand-spanking-new Toys R Us clearance game thread....

I have put the last 2 entries under spoilers so we wouldn't lose that data but most of it is pretty old...I will probably delete the stuff that goes back to early 2010 as it is really irrelevant....so we are gonna start small here....I have a few updates to post from my ventures out today..

I would like to keep this thread in the spirit of the Target Clearance Game thread so I will be setting it up like that...

Welcome to the Toys R Us clearance thread! Like all stores, Toys R Us also has clearance games-- and they often drop numerous times, such as going down to 19.98, 9.98, 5.00, and even as low as 3.00. There doesn't appear to be a set rhythm to when these drops occur, or how many of them will occur. Also, be aware that the games may not have their prices correctly marked-- generally, all TRUs will have the same pricing (there will always be exceptions) so do not let the price tag dissaude you from at least checking to see if it's at the price that it's been reported here.

For the most part, prices are universal! Though there will always be exceptions...

The PS3 one was much more valuable than the 360 one b/c the bonus anime is a Blu-Ray disc on PS3 while it's a game disk on 360 (has to be in the 360 drive, HD-DVD drive won't work.)

Yes, some TRU stores are slow with updating price tags but prices are generally the same at each TRU with the exception of manager's markdowns that end in a .90 (not counting items for .90) like a game marked down to $2.90.

Click edit, click Go Advanced and it's up along the top of the post.

Not lately they haven't and I doubt they will get anywhere near that price when all these new copies hit. There are already twice as many listed today as yesterday when I first checked. Only one has any bids and it's at a little over $30.

The PSP Go is clearanced at $169.98. The PSP 3000 core is still at MSRP $129.99.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 for XBox 360: $9.98

May not sound like much, but new they are consistently going for ~ $25 - $27 on eBay...and possibly more in the near future with the Avengers movie coming out in a few months.

If you missed this game and want to grab it cheap...this is a good price ($26.99 USED at GameStop.com.)

Well I went in looking for collectors edition bundles for the cheap and walked out with a 10 dollar copy of Monster Hunter Tri. Figured this was a good way to test the waters on the series and see how I enjoy it.

Damn Gears 3 LE for 10 bucks, id pay that just for the COG inside. Does TRU usually put price tags on these drops or just keep them at full price and those who know the deals get lucky?

I was stunned at the clearance price at the 120 GB PS3 at $179.99, I've put off getting one for so long that I wanted to check their overall availability and status. At the point of the evening that I checked, I was so dizzy from hunger and end-of-day work I actually drove to the Best Buy across the street to check the prices on Google Shopping and the PS3 wiki to make sure I had things right so I could make a sensible decision. I went back there immediately and got the last one. I figure people must have missed that one considering the 120 GB and 160 GB boxes look slightly the same in the glass case.

For anyone interested, the PS3 120 GB SKU listed on the receipt is: 711719802204.

Also, the PSP Tech Case Kit is pretty good for $4.00, it's an officially licensed Sony product from BDA for the PSP-2000, comes with a carrying case, earphones, screen protectos, cleaning cloth and a car adapter.

The SKU on the PSP Tech Case Kit is 617885947391.

SKU on Super Street Fighter 4 for the 360 is: 013388330232.

Also picked up The Shoot and Katamari Forever for the PS3 at $9.98.

Making a TRU trip this morning! I'll have my two boys with my so the amount of time I can spend hunting is certainly limited, but better than nothing I suppose.

So basically I need to be looking for (yes I'll have to bring a list with me, my ability to recall gaming deals while out has dwindled since having kids)...

- Gears 3 (the SE that's not in the big box whatever that one is called, LE, SE, CE, whatever)

- Super Street Fighter 4

- Star Ocean if I'm feeling RPGy (I see mixed feelings about this game all the time too...)

- Starcraft and Warcraft "bundles"

- So is AssCreed Bro only for the PS3 at that low price or?...

- NCAA College Basketball 10 purely for resale factor

- Maybe a couple others like Mafia 2, etc...

Man, my TRU normally sucks for clearance stuff anyway but WOW, this time nothing...nothing at all. They still had the two AssCreed SE's for 360 though so hopefully they'll drop soon.

Bad thing is the second closest one out is about an hour away...they usually have a lot of good stuff though (got the GH WT full band bundle there for $50 with a $25gc).
 
Sick find on that! I'm about to run back to TRU with my son; hoping they still have some goodies around. I think we've got enough of a list together to make a 30 minute trip worthwhile; at least, I hope so! Has anyone checked those Kinectimals bundles (they were TRU exclusive, I believe) that came with a plush? One TRU kinda nearby has about a million of them clogging the case; seems like the kind of thing that is taking up a lot of space...

They had Star Ocean in the clearance bin for probably two years....but it was always a ridiculously high "clearance" price around $35. Went back since everybody is reporting great clearance stuff again and not only did they take the bins away, but not Star Ocean to be found.

I think I'm gonna hit up my closest TRU tonight again after dumping off this HDtv antenna which didn't work very well back to BB. Then again, it could be because my entertainment room is in my basement n the antenna couldn't get through the cinderblock walls.:lol:

Either way, I'm taking that shit back n gonna look for some of the $10 games. I doubt I'll find any by now, but it's worth a shot.

Well went back to Toys R Us to check if I could find anything else. Did not, but did get a killer deal on a couple of gaming shirts. Grabbed Twilight Princess, Donkey Kong, and Pacman shirt for $1 each. Thanks to whoever mentioned them since otherwise I wouldn't have looked for it.
 
I grabbed a pile of the $1 shirts at the shrewsbury Ma. store today. Plenty of 2xl halo reach and xl zelda shirts.
 
Went to the Alhambra and Glendale, CA TRU today, what a joke, there isn't even a clearance section for video games. I asked about Valkyria Chronicles and Heavy Rain (People finding it @ 9.99), and the "video game specialist" didn't even know these games existed. Made him do a online inventory check and nothing in the area showed up.

You guys are lucky!
 
Likewise, I have had absolutely no luck with this clearance down in South Florida. Went to two separate ones and let me just say that the TRU's down here are probably the worst in the country. They are just an absolute mess, understaffed with things littered everywhere, so I'm not particularly surprised.

So, Prim what's the deal with this last round of Clearance?
Was there no notice coming to anyone (no list)? I know there were a good amount of games at many of the local stores, but they seem to simply have been removed before they had the updated prices.

I don't think it's bad luck or coincidence, but I hear many of the same stories (no clearance at all by quite a few CAGs). Anybody who works at ToysRus and it's higher on the food chain knows what happened?

Same here. I got two of the Zelda shirts because it so happens I bought the exact shirt from Hot Topic years ago. It's a nice quality shirt and I love the graphic on it. so I should be good for life.
I got one 2X Halo shirt also. I found it odd all of the shirts were 2x. Are they saying Halo fans are all bigger/fat ?
