Welcome to the Official CAG Blockbuster/Gamerush video game deal thread.

SPECIAL NOTE (B1G1 free on $14.99 and under used games through August 4th):
All used games under $14.99 are buy one get one free through August 4th NOW OVER.

The second post has games that you may want to trade in to Gamestop to transfer some credit from BB to GS. Unfortunately with the end of the $10 extra promo at Gamestop this is much less useful than before. Some people may have the $15 bonus coupon or want to use the current GS deal (trade 3 get an extra 10%, trade 4 get an extra 20%, trade 5 get an extra 30%) so we'll keep that post going until the B1G1 free ends at Blockbuster.

Even though the B1G1 sale is now over, I'm leaving this info up for a few days for those who bought stuff and still want to trade it in to Gamestop (you have till the 10th there).

SPECIAL NOTE #2 (DS Lite's and new DS games now available at most BB stores!):
Starting just on July 15th, most Blockbuster stores got shipments of DS Lites and a wide assortment of new DS games that they've never had for sale in the past. Titles include NSMB, Professor Layton, Mario Party DS, and High School Musical ;).

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ALERT: Preorders available for a few select games at most Blockbuster stores

Most regular Blockbuster locations (in addition to Gamerush stores of course) are currently taking preorders for NCAA 09, Madden 09, Star Wars Force Unleashed, Fallout 3, Soul Calibur IV, and a few others (YMMV on the cashier knowing about it). $5 is required for a deposit.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What is this thread for?
The primary function of this thread is to discuss current trade-in and sale promos and to post any trade-in values you have obtained. Please post trade-in values with the date of the trade (or quote) and system. One of the CAG Wiki editors will then add them to the Wiki.

It is also permissible to discuss system availability, credit issues, etc. As long as it is related to game trades or sales at Blockbuster it is generally OK to discuss it here.

Unlike more tightly focused clearance threads, it is OK to discuss more general Gamerush/Blockbuster issues here as well as trade requests as long as they are kept to a minimum (and usually just during specific deals).

Due to the questionable stability of the Gamerush brand, it is also permissible to discuss ways of converting credit from Blockbuster to other stores (ie, which games may be used for trading in to other stores such as Gamecrazy or EB/GS). As of right now, we have no indication of Gamerush's imminent demise, but given Blockbuster's ongoing financial difficulties we need to be aware of the possibility.

What is this thread NOT for?
Please do not discuss the flipping of games from one Gamerush store to another should another such opportunity arise (through trade-in deals which we haven't had recently anyway). It is one thing to "play the market" with trade-in values from one chain to another (GR to GC to EB) - free market buy low/sell high and all that. But taking advantage of loopholes in a single store's policies/promos is frowned upon and has, in the past, led to trade-in bans from GR.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Blockbuster Game Trading Info
- You must sign up for a trade account in addition to your regular Blockbuster account
- You must sign up for a new trade account at every store you wish to trade at, even if using the same main account
- Trade-in credit can be placed onto your store account or onto a "Value" card
- Credit on store accounts can only be used at that one store
- However, credit can be transferred from the store account to a card at any time
- Value cards can be used at any location
- Clerks at one store cannot see your trading/purchasing history at another store via your account
- Gamerush stores often do not get new game stock until the Friday of the release week, thus a few days later than most retailers

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gamerush vs. regular Blockbusters
All Blockbuster game-related discussion belongs here. Most threads created in the Deals forum will be merged in to here. There seems to be the impression by many CAGs that if they don't have a Gamerush store near them then this thread does not apply to them. However, regular (non-GR) Blockbuster stores often run the same promos and generally have the same trade-in values. I'm going to elaborate on the last sentence as people apparently don't understand that when I say regular BB's have the same trade-in values as Gamerush that it means [hightlight]regular Blockbuster stores accept game trade-ins just like Gamerush stores.

The key differences:
- Only Gamerush stores sell used video game hardware and generally have a much wider selection of new hardware. Many regular BB stores had a PS3 bundle available over Christmas and since then they have expanded their hardware sales. As of right now (Spring/Summer 2008) most Blockbuster stores are now selling PS3's, Xbox 360's, and Wii's. They just started in mid July selling DS Lites at most stores as well. As a result of not selling used hardware, however, regular Blockbuster stores will not take hardware in for trades.

- Both Gamerush and regular Blockbuster stores take preorders for new games for a $5 deposit (or you can pay any other amount beyond that). Gamerush stores will get many more games in than the regular stores but unfortunately a preorder at either place is not a guarantee you will get the game. Sometimes they do not get certain titles in even if you preorder them months in advance.

- While many Gamerush stores have cut back on their new game stock, some regular (non-GR) Blockbusters have started selling new games. They usually have a very limited selection of top-selling new 360, PS3, and Wii games. I will be maintaining a list below here for those with Blockbuster credit but no access to a GR store.

- Trade-in values are controlled centrally and are uniform across all Gamerush and Blockbuster locations EXCEPT if the Blockbuster is a franchise location. You can tell from the receipt if your store is a franchise store. All Gamerush stores are corporate-owned so they will have uniform pricing.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

New games that may be available for purchase at non-GR Blockbusters
For those with access to only regular Blockbuster stores but wanting to take advantage of the decent trade-in values Blockbuster offers, this is the list of new games being sold by many regular Blockbuster locations. Note that they will generally not get new games on the release date. They will most likely have them a few days to weeks later. Stock is usually very limited and they do not seem to get restocks of most games. So once something is sold out they will most likely not get it back. Many of the "older "new games in the list below may be hard to find at this point.

Reported Trade-In Prices

Trade-In Price Wiki

Octo is still getting $23 dollars traded in two today. Also SC:DA is only getting $12 dollars and that was for the xb360 limited edition.

Hoping to get my hands on a few additional Octo's. What do people think about the TIV price staying $23 though Sunday/Monday TIV updates next week? Not sure if I'm going to be able to make another trip out to my GR until next monday/tuesday
Which BB was this at? Don't worry it's not me, but I have yet to run into another CAG/flipper since the Beowulf flip. I did hit up a couple of your stops (mainly because there was a Mario Power Tennis at the Euclid and Katella store I had been eyeing for the last few days). Don't worry, most of day was spent up in Cerritos. ;)

Any details on what this guy looks like?
it was, ahh, around knott in garden grove. Since I work right near knott. He was like 5'8" and balding, a bit old (maybe 35). I wanna say he was indian, but he wasn't, some other race in that region probably. I'm sure it wasn't anyone from here since he passed on all the good flips, mainly iridium and GC which no cag here would really pass up if they saw.

I actually went to the euclid store but didnt get much, just iridium/GC like usual. I still got 2 pairs of that combo. I'm gonna stop buy a BB that I know has some good stuff in irvine, but is a bit far, far as in over a mile out of my way, so not really that far. I'm just lazy.

also madagascar gets 9.99 used on gs.com, so what would be the tiv ($2-$4 right?).

Also any word on if I should go get that Wii fit I traded in? Is it worth the trouble?

And is octomania actaully 9.99 in stores now? I tried 3 times all rang up 14.99 yesterday... Anyone actually buy one?
Yes I bought three today at three different locations. $9.99
damn, when did they change the price? weak right when I gotta got o work, those bastards!!!
Crash of the Titans (PSP) $14.99 -> $7 base, $9.80 w/ extras. Octomania made me $100 today. Jeesh
Its also 500 Goozex points ($25) and when I put mine up it went within the hour. Far better, IMHO.

You should get the WiiFit, a good way to convert credit into cash with 25% profit too. I sold 6 new so far this past week in Orange County Area .. get $125 each.

Since I'm an idiot I picked up Bladestorm for the 360 instead of the PS3. 360 version gets $35.

Octomania held strong at $23 and HC: BftP held at $26.

I like that, go work in the Irvine area, I'm heading the other way.

I've been by the Knott (and Lincoln) store. The CSRs are fairly knowledgeable and haven't given me a problem yet.

I think my area is cleared out of good games to trade. I can't trade in any more copies of IR/GC/Manhunt 2.

Oh by the way, when trading in, don't forget to remove the blockbuster rental cover underneath the game cover!

I work in Garden grove so i might stop by one, but probably the one on the way in santa ana that I traded my wiifit at. I should probably go get that.

I could just sense I was on thin ice with Octomania. Picked up 2 this morning with GS credit for $20. Went to one of the BBVs where I already dumped two last week, no dice. A note was in that store's computer that I cannot trade that particular game in anymore. I wasn't going to argue, I'll try another BBV later. If I'm smoked there, it's time to move on to the next big flip.

Hows that make you an idiot? PS3 nets you 36 right?
Hows that make you an idiot? PS3 nets you 36 right?
I'm just an idiot for thinking it was the 360 version that nets $36 instead of the PS3 version. I've been flipping long enough to know that 360 games never get above a $35 TIV (I'm almost 100% certain of this). Oh well, didn't lose anything so I'm happy.

I just got back from a BBV and picked up a total of 10 games. No duplicates. I now have 14 games to trade, but have two Manhunts so I'll have to do it in 2 pairs. The CSR at the BBV was surprised when I brought that many games to the counter.

At least I cleaned some of their security cases. They don't have enough of those security cases for all the games in the store so some games are just the box and I have to wait for them to get the game in the back. Takes way too long.

In the end I used $78.12 in BBV credit. I'll be hitting up GS soon to trade them in. I'll report then.

Here's a picture of today's haul. Very happy :).

There is a hidden ProStroke Golf beside the Manhunt 2 PSP game. And of course, on top are my sunglasses of justice that protect my eyes while biking around from GS to BB.

I dunno - I saw one at my local store and looked on eBay last night. They seemed to be getting anywhere from $115 - $130 but most of those with FREE SHIPPING. Since I'd imagine it would take $10-$20 to ship that thing, not to mention having to find a box for it and all that, I didn't think it was worth it even after buying it with cheap credit. And note those are new ones.
...a bit old (maybe 35).
Watch your tongue, you whippersnapper! ;)

As Dennis would say, "I'm not old."
If that is true then io must be ancient. :)
I officially become ancient on Aug 16th... So it's on my mind now :cry:. V4oLDbOY's comment was just a twisting of the knife. At least I'm not balding though ;).

In other news, today is my 15th wedding anniversary. So the question is, how do I get to go out Octomania hunting? (I may do so by pushing off any event till the weekend when the inlaws can watch the kids - but still, my wife won't be happy if I run out all evening ;)).

Difficulty with Wii Dragon Ball 3 (if possible, buy the non bonus disc version/cover art/upc version. The bonus disc version/upc is not in the system and this store manager/district trainer :bomb: would not just look up the game to complete the trade...company policy is to accept games only with upcs that are in the system....
Also same type of issue with Warhawk. Mind you both games were mint/complete...compared to the many Iffy/incomplete copies of games I recently bought from BB...I fought a lil battle with him but lost...I regret even the small battle I fought...better to stay under the radar... as my local stores call each other....learn from my mistake grasshopper(s)...smile if it's a manager, exit stage right to another store...

Happy Wedding Anniversary IO... I have my 2 years, a week ago. Not sure if she will stay with me for 15 years if I'm out all the night trading games. :)

in regards to Wii Fit.. I sold mine on craigslist to local, so no shipping, and still net $125.

V4oldboy, if you get the Wii Fit and want to sell.. I have several people that wants to buy Wii in OC area. I can give you their contacts, since I'm out of Wii Fit.

Hmm... very interesting day today. I woke up at 2 since I had work last night and had 3 hours before I had to leave for work again so I figure, "I'll go to Gamestop." Picked up 2 copies of World Series of Poker and 1 Mortal Kombat and the cashier tells me my membership expired. Stunned, I asked "How long does the $15 cover me for?" He tells me a year. "Strange..." I say "because I've had my card for a little over 3 months..." I didn't wanna argue too much with the guy, he's cool about my suspicious buying activities. Plus, my card was demagnitized last month and the barcode rubbed off so it was pretty much dead anyway.
I reserved Fallout 3 and went home listening to I Don't Want to Set the World On Fire with my brand new edge card and called it a day. I'm $20 down, but a few good flips will bring me back up. I was trying to make it back up to $600, but I just ordered Mario Kart for the Wii of the GS site, so I'll settle for less.

Alright! Went on my final run today, which was pretty fruitful. I'll just use spoiler tags so it doesn't create a lot of space for the people who don't care.

GS -> BB

Folklore $24.29 (After 10% coupon, EDGE) -> $23
Octomania $9.99 (New) -> $23
History Channel: BftP $22.49 (Coupon, EDGE) -> $22

PS2 - Bee Movie ($9.99) Free -> $8.40

PS2 - Golden Compass ($4.99) Free -> $5.60

PS2 - Spiderwick Chronicles $14.99 -> $8.40
360 - TH: Proving Ground ($14.99) Free -> $9.80

So, final results!

BB Credit - $20.23 -> $88.38 -> $11.41
GS Credit - $149.91 -> $89.17 -> $194.17

Profit - $35.44

Between today, yesterday, and my first flipping day during the b1g1 + GS $10 extra fiasco, I've taken about $100, and turned it into $205, a copy of Force Unleashed, and Psi-Ops for the PS2. Not too bad for a newbie, I hope?
Honey, I'll be right back.

And happy 15th anniversary, io. My wife and I recently passed our 11th.

For what it's worth, I got her the Guitar Hero Aerosmith Wii bundle and the Rock Band Wii bundle. All with flipped credit. She was very pleased. Maybe an idea, then?

Officially jumped on the octomania bandwagon...lots of flipping tomorrow :)

Also, holy crap on the number of Iridium runner/gc there are, I stopped by 2 stores and each had 2 copies each of IR and 3+ of GC. Too bad I had to get lesser ratio things like manhunt 2 and spiderman fof to complete groups of 5.

Over priced blurays and chocolate (by the registers)?
Thats what i'm gonna end up getting my girlfriend for her bday in mid august...the best gifts are heavily discounted :cool:

Also congrats IO

Well, had my first run-in with the GS refurb fees on obviously unscratched items. Manager at the one GS next door to work used to be cool, but I'm now assuming that corporate must be getting on them to get more refurb fees, not unlike their preorder demands.

One game was scratched up, the other two were practically mint. Cost me almost $4. Gonna complain on TellGamestop.com, not that it will do much.

On the plus side, I'm up to $74 at GS.

so i went and found a used copy of octomania today at gs but it still rang up as 12.99 used so it looks like some store's stock isn't changed yet. their new copy still sold for 14.99 while another gs i went into had it for 9.99. i asked them to even double check the price on their computer and it was 12.99 used and 14.99 new. got the used anyways with the 10% so 39 cents more than a new copy. oh well might try to get a price adjustment next week

Yea I got hit with a refurbished fee on one game two days ago for the first time. Today I got hit for two refurbished fees. If I wasn't sucking them dry I would be upset. Well, I guess I still am a little heh. What a stupid fee

So I found a YMMV clearance at a Best Buy store today. Picked up the last copy of Armored Core 4 for $9.99 PS3 and grabbed one copy of Fantastic Four Wii from a huge stack (this still trade in for $20?). Also found a couple copies of Octomania. Thinking of keeping one and trading the other into BB. This store had a ton of other $9.99 games, mostly PS2 but a handful of 360, PS3, and Wii. Wii titles were limted to Ice Age 2, Meet the Robinsons and FF. PS3 were Def Jam Icon, NBA 07 (had about 40 copies of this one) and Armored Core 4. I didn't pay much attention to the 360 titles since I don't own a 360. Oh, there were PSP and DS titles too. I remember EEE and Magical Starsign off the top of my head.

Going to hit up a couple more Best Buys to see how YMMV this clearance is in my area. Wondering if anything from this list is worth trading in to Gamerush.

Back when Gamerush had their huge clearance a year or two ago I was flipping tons of brand new games to Gamestop (after opening them, of course). I had more than one employee actually try to charge me a refurbish fee on brand new discs. I mean these games had been factory sealed 5 minutes before being walked into the store. I think some of them just randomly try to slip the fee into every transaction. I, of course, kept the games and traded them in the next time I visited the store or at a different store. I have NEVER paid a refurbish fee even when a disc was scratched up...if you go to enough stores, one of them will take it, and if you don't have a bunch of stores, you're not going to make much profit flipping anyway.

Here a couple more values. I traded God of War II. BBV versions seem to only came with disc one. Gamestop said it was no problem buying it back that way. Decent TIV...

:ps2:
God War II $14.99 / $11.20

:gc:
Warioware $9.99 / $3.50

i thought warioware would get more. doh!

GS -> BB

BIG Spoiler Tag
Not to poke fun or anything man, but if you're going to be transferring credit from GS to BB at almost a 1:1 ratio make sure you don't buy games that will give you an 1:1 ratio going back to GS. Just a quick observation. You bought two $14.99 games. $14.99+tax is ~$16. Both games traded in for $16.80. You made a gain of ~$0.80.

Again, I'm not trying to poke fun. I'm just saying that unless you needed the GS credit and couldn't wait that buying those 2 games wasn't a really smart move. This is all assuming you didn't need the GS credit right away though so don't take this personally or that you didn't need extra games to complete sets of 5.

And now to report on the ending of my day.
Started my day off by getting some BB credit.
$57.97 GS credit -> $84 BB credit
And ended my day by gaining some GS credit.
$78.12 BB credit -> $110 GS credit

Ended up having a 1.4 ratio. Alright if you ask me. I had to stick with the $9.99 titles that traded in for $8.40 due to the fact that there were no GCs and only one Iridium runners in the 3 BBs I hit. Found it kind of odd to say the least. My best find was Manhunt 2 for the PSP. Was really happy on that one. In efforts to waste the last $18 I had on the gift card I picked up Psychonauts and Hitman: Blood Money. Bad trade ratios, but I had to.

Started the day with $215.86 GS credit and ended with $267.89. Had a fun time riding my bike 12 or so miles getting to the stores. Never did I get bored.

One last thing. I saw a copy of Beautiful Katamari sitting on the shelves of a GS. There is definitely another CAG around here that is hitting up the same GS stores that I do. Who is it, hmm? The stores I'm talking about are the ones at Summit Plaza in Hackensack, NJ and Route 17 South GS in East Rutherford, NJ.

Think I may be Octo'd out. Kept a sealed one, flipped the gutted ones. Moved a decent amount of credit back to BB/GR.

Looks like there's a couple Broken Arrow CAGs out there...the BA GS guy said he'd never had so many call-in requests for Octomania. Their 2 new copies sold before I got there. Good thing I called this morning to have them hold the used copy for me...I didn't want to get greedy and put a hold on them all... ;)

today's damages was $47 in GS credit flipped to BB then back to GS for $162 this is just too easy. Did this in a matter of 20 minutes too.

There's a new coupon for trading in reservations for Madden 09 and earning you bonus 40%, that 50% with edge card, anyone giving this a go?

i just put down a preorder for madden so i will be taking advantage of this. got a small stack of games i was going to trade in anyway so ill just apply it towards my current preorder. that extra 10% makes the trade ins that much better.

Eh - I haven't heard anything 'gamebreaking' about '09, at least not enough to warrant a purchase from me. However, I do know some CAG'ers will take a stab at it. Plus, there's also the deal where you trade in NCAA Football 09 and get $40 towards madden 09 - funnily enough, there's a promotion right now for 20% extra trade in credit on trades towards madden 09. -

Typically you would use this to get extra TIV from your trades and then cancel the preorder (or even keep the preorder and just never pick it up if you made more than $5) - but with the current scaling deal it's really nothing too great.

Bleh, Predator Concrete Jungle (PS2) is still $19.99, so no go there.

Though I did happen to find a Power Rangers & Leisure Suit Larry. I wanted to hit up a few stores I haven't been to yet, but the manager on duty was the same one as last night who doesn't know how to put credit from an account onto a gift card...

Shame about tomorrow's coupon. Though I gotta say, we've been kinda spoiled the last few weeks. This is also the last weekend for the B1G1. Guess its time for some well deserved rest. At least there's always Octomania.

That's one of the free gamer pics that they have on Xbox Live and currently is my pic.

Ok guys. I got back into the game.

In 4 BB's, I've found 8 Iridium Riders, 5 Power Rangers, 10 Golden Compasses, and Pikmin 2.

Also got a bunch of other normal flipping games. Gonna flip everything but keep Pikmin 2.
