Welcome to the Official CAG Blockbuster/Gamerush video game deal thread.

SPECIAL NOTE (B1G1 free on $14.99 and under used games through August 4th):
All used games under $14.99 are buy one get one free through August 4th NOW OVER.

The second post has games that you may want to trade in to Gamestop to transfer some credit from BB to GS. Unfortunately with the end of the $10 extra promo at Gamestop this is much less useful than before. Some people may have the $15 bonus coupon or want to use the current GS deal (trade 3 get an extra 10%, trade 4 get an extra 20%, trade 5 get an extra 30%) so we'll keep that post going until the B1G1 free ends at Blockbuster.

Even though the B1G1 sale is now over, I'm leaving this info up for a few days for those who bought stuff and still want to trade it in to Gamestop (you have till the 10th there).

SPECIAL NOTE #2 (DS Lite's and new DS games now available at most BB stores!):
Starting just on July 15th, most Blockbuster stores got shipments of DS Lites and a wide assortment of new DS games that they've never had for sale in the past. Titles include NSMB, Professor Layton, Mario Party DS, and High School Musical ;).

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ALERT: Preorders available for a few select games at most Blockbuster stores

Most regular Blockbuster locations (in addition to Gamerush stores of course) are currently taking preorders for NCAA 09, Madden 09, Star Wars Force Unleashed, Fallout 3, Soul Calibur IV, and a few others (YMMV on the cashier knowing about it). $5 is required for a deposit.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What is this thread for?
The primary function of this thread is to discuss current trade-in and sale promos and to post any trade-in values you have obtained. Please post trade-in values with the date of the trade (or quote) and system. One of the CAG Wiki editors will then add them to the Wiki.

It is also permissible to discuss system availability, credit issues, etc. As long as it is related to game trades or sales at Blockbuster it is generally OK to discuss it here.

Unlike more tightly focused clearance threads, it is OK to discuss more general Gamerush/Blockbuster issues here as well as trade requests as long as they are kept to a minimum (and usually just during specific deals).

Due to the questionable stability of the Gamerush brand, it is also permissible to discuss ways of converting credit from Blockbuster to other stores (ie, which games may be used for trading in to other stores such as Gamecrazy or EB/GS). As of right now, we have no indication of Gamerush's imminent demise, but given Blockbuster's ongoing financial difficulties we need to be aware of the possibility.

What is this thread NOT for?
Please do not discuss the flipping of games from one Gamerush store to another should another such opportunity arise (through trade-in deals which we haven't had recently anyway). It is one thing to "play the market" with trade-in values from one chain to another (GR to GC to EB) - free market buy low/sell high and all that. But taking advantage of loopholes in a single store's policies/promos is frowned upon and has, in the past, led to trade-in bans from GR.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Blockbuster Game Trading Info
- You must sign up for a trade account in addition to your regular Blockbuster account
- You must sign up for a new trade account at every store you wish to trade at, even if using the same main account
- Trade-in credit can be placed onto your store account or onto a "Value" card
- Credit on store accounts can only be used at that one store
- However, credit can be transferred from the store account to a card at any time
- Value cards can be used at any location
- Clerks at one store cannot see your trading/purchasing history at another store via your account
- Gamerush stores often do not get new game stock until the Friday of the release week, thus a few days later than most retailers

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gamerush vs. regular Blockbusters
All Blockbuster game-related discussion belongs here. Most threads created in the Deals forum will be merged in to here. There seems to be the impression by many CAGs that if they don't have a Gamerush store near them then this thread does not apply to them. However, regular (non-GR) Blockbuster stores often run the same promos and generally have the same trade-in values. I'm going to elaborate on the last sentence as people apparently don't understand that when I say regular BB's have the same trade-in values as Gamerush that it means [hightlight]regular Blockbuster stores accept game trade-ins just like Gamerush stores.

The key differences:
- Only Gamerush stores sell used video game hardware and generally have a much wider selection of new hardware. Many regular BB stores had a PS3 bundle available over Christmas and since then they have expanded their hardware sales. As of right now (Spring/Summer 2008) most Blockbuster stores are now selling PS3's, Xbox 360's, and Wii's. They just started in mid July selling DS Lites at most stores as well. As a result of not selling used hardware, however, regular Blockbuster stores will not take hardware in for trades.

- Both Gamerush and regular Blockbuster stores take preorders for new games for a $5 deposit (or you can pay any other amount beyond that). Gamerush stores will get many more games in than the regular stores but unfortunately a preorder at either place is not a guarantee you will get the game. Sometimes they do not get certain titles in even if you preorder them months in advance.

- While many Gamerush stores have cut back on their new game stock, some regular (non-GR) Blockbusters have started selling new games. They usually have a very limited selection of top-selling new 360, PS3, and Wii games. I will be maintaining a list below here for those with Blockbuster credit but no access to a GR store.

- Trade-in values are controlled centrally and are uniform across all Gamerush and Blockbuster locations EXCEPT if the Blockbuster is a franchise location. You can tell from the receipt if your store is a franchise store. All Gamerush stores are corporate-owned so they will have uniform pricing.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

New games that may be available for purchase at non-GR Blockbusters
For those with access to only regular Blockbuster stores but wanting to take advantage of the decent trade-in values Blockbuster offers, this is the list of new games being sold by many regular Blockbuster locations. Note that they will generally not get new games on the release date. They will most likely have them a few days to weeks later. Stock is usually very limited and they do not seem to get restocks of most games. So once something is sold out they will most likely not get it back. Many of the "older "new games in the list below may be hard to find at this point.

Reported Trade-In Prices

I called my local GS to check, he said is still $14.99. Do stores have to update themselves, or does their computer update automaticly?
What is Iridium runners getting at GS? I got 2 copies today, I can get $10-$12 locally apiece should i jsut do that?

I got a great deal today I returned some of the games to BB that were scratched when i recieved them and BB put the whole value back on my card so I basicly got a bunch of free games!! has anyone else had that happen?
They did that to me SEVERAL times actually. I had to return Mario Power Tennis (cuz it didn't have the disc in it) and the lady told me i could just go exchange it for something else...so i went and browsed around until i found SSBMelee. When i brought it up to the counter she handed me the $16.xx in cash and said she couldn't put it back on the card cuz i didn't have the original card on me o_O. So i basically got 2 free games + extra cash in my pocket :whistle2:D and in fact...it's happened to me twice before when i returned something i bought brand new (a dvd) using credit and since i didn't have the original card on me they just gave me cash...im sure that could turn into a MAJOR scam if you used it to your full (and somewhat immoral) advantage...but it just so happened it worked out to my advantage each time since i wasn't going to refuse a cash refund and i had lost the card the credit was used from o_O. so go figure
Frontlines for 360 rang up 39.99 for me
ditto, and I made a trip just for this reported drop :bomb:
Seems to be just a mismarked game at one store, yesterday I lucked out with a mint Mass Effect tagged $14.99 and the manager honored it as part of the promo, I did Not report it here as part of the Buy one get one as I knew it was a fluke.

Op
GC Bratz Rock Angel at 2 stores today for $2.99 (not $4.99) and was quoted a $4 TIV today

Just bought one and it scanned $2.99

For anyone looking for a cheap bluetooth headset, Best Buy has Warhawk w/ headset for $27 after 10% off coupon. Blockbuster pays $23 as of today for Warhawk, so it means that the headset only costs around $4-5 depending on your taxes. The barocde on the PS3 disc says not for resale, but what you can do if you're crafty is cut out the barcode from the big box that everything came in and slip it over the not for resale mark.

I personally just took a marker and blacked out the "includes bluetooth headset". The HEAD manager of the store was the person who took my trade. He looked at it, asked what it said. I basically told him "it says includes bluetooth headset, but I figured you wouldn't want a used item thats been in my ear." He said "good enough for me" and scanned the game.

I can also confirm that Mortal Kombat Armageddon for the Wii is worth $26 as of today. I'm back up to $141.68 in BB credit and $370 in GS credit (after picking up 2 Soul Calibur 4 LE's). I've already sold my Wii Fit for $140 and 1 of the Soul Calibur's for $115.

I can't resist the calling anymore. I leave the states to go on vacation on Friday so I'll be devoting tomorrow to flipping. In the past week I've been sitting at home doing nothing. I've been bored out of my mind for the 4 hours in the morning that I'm usually out biking and flipping.

I'll be flipping some games to hopefully get $100 or so in BB credit. Once I do that I'm going to try to get at least $170 GS credit. This promotion is a lot better than the last one. I could never get past the 1.5 ratio from BB to GS credit last time. I'm really hoping my BB's have a lot of those good games like most of the GC games.

I traded in a Warhawk that doesn't have a barcode to BBV yesterday. I just told the associate to look up the game in the system, it should be there. Is it me or do people usually always get associates that have never done trade ins before? Probably just my area, full of tourists and old people.

The problem when I tried to trade in Warhawk without a barcode was that they took one look at the "NOT FOR RESALE" and just assume that taking it in as a trade in would be "illegal."

Happened at all three of the BBV's that I tried to trade it in at.

Yea. thats when you either take the barcode from the big box, or just cut out the area and say you had to cut out the barcode for a mail-in-rebate. Then they can just look up the game and you'll be on your way.

not bad toay the BBs I went to were a bit cleaned out. But a few weird things happened. First I went to a GS to get fatal inertia and dancing w/ the stars, and they had a used wii fit. Hmmm, I just got it on an impulse, but that trade dropped me considerably. This was at a local GS by my house before I went to work. I took the game home, and ate, and thought to myself, "Why the f*ck did I buy Wii fit." I'm sure I could have sold it on ebay or whatever, since I got it for $67 in GS credit. But I dont want the trouble of that, I'm sure a lot of you have the time to do so but I dont. So I just traded it in at another GS that I was trading some BB games at, $84 so not a bad profit for an impulse buy. (edit: if this was a big mistake please correct me. I can call in the morning and rebuy my trade in if anyone either wants it or it was a mistake to trade it in, meaning I could get much more than $84 cash if I saved it.)

Raised my GS credit back to the $165 area, which had recently dropped since I ordered 3 octomanias and other used games off GS.com. I also gained some BB credit, maybe I got $60-70 right now, IDK, forgot.

Still got 2 x iridium and 2x GC, manhunt, HS tennis, SM:FoF, and madagascar, needed a throw in do I could have 3 full sets of 5 games for tomorrow without copies. They had nothing, everytime I brought a game up they couldn't find it. Tony hawk, no. Dungeon siege, no. SO on until finally after noting left on my list I settled for Madagascar. Hopefully I get 50 cents for it. At one BB I saw a definite leecher from this thread. Be had a very small printout of the tivs, and had very little credit, dead give away(infact it was exactly $23, hmm Octomania perhaps from best buy), so he paid for the remaining $5 with his CC. He was just f*ckin weird, held up the line for like 15 min because all the games were sratched. Owwww boo hoo. Infact so long 1 person left and when another cashier opened I let the people behind me go since I knew they would have to find my games (no clam shells here). He passed on the best flips for shit. Like 2 GC and 2 iridium runners. SM: FoF and VT3. He instead goes for xmen, not the legend game even....huh. Very weird guy I have to say. He also passed on 2 Manhunts which I grabbed before he could pull that micro list out of his pocket again. I dont care really, he left me all the good stuff and took the shit for himself.

It was kind of embarrassing watching someone else do that... in public. Ther's isles go in those and stare at your list.

edit: I'll try some new BBs since I got some credit and dont have to trade anything in...yet. I didn't even get to all those places on my map, not by a long shot, I tried to do a big loop and then to work, but I got bord and decided to eat instead on a final GS trade, hence the extra games I had in my car. I hope I can find GR/BB store, all the ones I went to today were regular BB ones, even though online some said the were GR ones.

edit; also noticed octomania's used price dropped to 8.99, so a great flip if you happen to live 49.3 miles from me at the nearest GS that has one from me. Probably already mentioned. I'm gonna keep checking to see if ti gets in stock magically.
Wii Fit is selling regularly upwards of $130 on eBay and Craigslist. ;)
Used? If so I'll have to call asap tomorrow morning. I thought people wouldn't want a used one. The top was pretty dirty, but anyway to clean that without damage.

Saw some nice games at BBV...

:ps2:
God of War II $14.99
Shadow of the Colossus $14.99 sticker (i didn't have it scanned)
Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence $19.99

dammit i was hoping MGS3 would scan at $14.99. I paired up GoWII with Manhunt 2 for PSP. GoW didn't have the 2nd disc. I really want the game complete, do you think Gamestop will take it like this?

I'll then turn around and buy it complete from them at another store
Dancing with the stars is 9.97 on the TRU website!!
And $7.48 on clearance at Target if you can still find them (for the Wii version).

The one TRU is selling cheap is the PS2 version.

Which BB was this at? Don't worry it's not me, but I have yet to run into another CAG/flipper since the Beowulf flip. I did hit up a couple of your stops (mainly because there was a Mario Power Tennis at the Euclid and Katella store I had been eyeing for the last few days). Don't worry, most of day was spent up in Cerritos. ;)

Any details on what this guy looks like?

lol new flips but i'm too lazy to do them XD. And my BBVs are kinda putting me on watch gotta lay low. Glad you guys are making good profits. Good luck people.

Wow, I just noticed that there's a store locator for Octomania used now. Unfortunately the closest one is 25 miles away. But plenty of stores have new ones. Seems like this is the only really profitable flip with no coupons out there.

make sure it's $9.99 before you go. The ones in Tampa yesterday were still $15. And yes, I had them scan it.

So... wait, did you buy that copy of MGS3? Because those things sell really high, complete or not. I've seen copies sell for $60, discs-only.

Just called my Gamestop, Octomania is registered as $9.99 new. I am going now to pick up a few copies to trade. I will post back if it rings up differently.

Well, Octomania shows 9.99 on the Gamestop website, and used 8.99, so if you're able to find a used one WITH the 10% off coupon, that'll bring you to $7.20 after edge/coupon. Either way, it's still a very profitable flip now that it's 9.99 at Gamestop NEW.
Confirming 9.99 buy price and a trade in of 23.00 at bbv. Damn game is making me do my rounds now
Wow, all these posts. It's like everyone's got............ OCTOMANIA!!!:whee:

On another note, noticed that a used Armored Core 4 (360) just dropped from $25 to $20 at Gamestop, so expect a hit to the TIV.

Are you serious?

Would you like the TIVs for all PS2 games while I'm at it?

Edit - swetooth9... Why did you do that? If someone doesn't have the decency to read the first two posts before asking questions and sounding like a leech, he doesn't deserve the info.

Hahahahaha... amazing.

Spent all day flipping yesterday at 15 a piece for Octomania =( but it was still easy money and I'll be flipping today too, hopefully price will have dropped around here. My favorite BBV -> GS are

Dracula X
Iridium Runners

Picked up 4 copies of each yesterday at a total cost of 30 BBV dollars and a total value of 84 dollars at GS XD
115 dollars in GS, 92 dollars in BBV in my pocket right now. Both Gamestops I went to wouldn't let me trade in multiples by the way. I had to finagle it so that I'd have 5 different games for each trade in (wasn't that hard, just annoying).

I think my favorite part about flipping this time around is that I don't even want anything. I'm just hording money at both :D

WHERE THE SHIT ARE ALL OF THESE DRACULA X'S COMING FROM? I haven't seen a single one in my area, and I just want one to freakin' keep. If anyone wants to put a copy aside to trade to me, I'd be quite grateful.

I'm going out again tonight, if I see one I'll hold onto it for you. They all came from the same BBV for me, out of the three I went to only one had any (but they happened to have 4!)

flipped another Octomania. And since I was on my way to another BB, I did the B1G1 w/ Golden Compass & Top Spin 2 & traded them back for $12. I now have $55 on Fallout 3 CE & $12 on GoW2 LE. sweet.

Like posted earlier, if they tell you the promotion is over they are just plain wrong. I have made 7 purchases since it was supposedly over. I thing someone said that the message to extend was sent out in a corporate email. You can just take up a modest amount of games and have the associate ring them up. When you start getting them free tell them guess not.

Damn... sorry, just got back. I tried that, and guess what... didn't work?!?! I thought it would too... but she rang them up and they both came up separately with a combined total!

were they $14.99 or under? If not it was likely a franchise store, which probably didn't participate in the original promotion.

No, i didn't realize it was that valuable. Its available on gamestop.com right now.

Only sealed copies are getting even close to that $80 quote. A complete copy opened might get you around $30-40.
You know, I figured Octomania was just another garbage title for the Wii, but it actually has some semi-decent reviews (in particular the IGN one):

I may get one to keep if I can get it for $9.99 in GS credit. Hopefully it drops in store tomorrow in any case.
I was thinking the same. I believe it is made by the creators of Puyo Puyo. :applause:
Here's the missing GS prices for post #2:

:360: Bladestorm $34.99

The PS3 version gets $36 at BBV. I got one on clearance for $9.99 at Bestbuy. But it made more sense to sell it online. Sold for $54 within 12hrs!

For those southern california folks. Some of the gamestops in the area (Eagle Rock, Glendale, Magnolia Center, Buena Park, La Crescenta Marketplace, Quad at Whittier, Valencia Town Blvd, and River Oaks - Magic Mountain Pkwy) have this coupon sheet where the first coupon is 50% extra trade-in on all used games. They just gave one to me and it's been helping my trades a fair bit.

Also on the sheet are two more coupons, one for an extra $30 credit on any system excluding Gamecube, GBA - micro, advance, sp) and a coupon for 10% off a new game. Hopefully this helps some of you out there. Happy hunting!

Off to get my Octo on.

I tried using my edge card, along with CAG and SAVER as codes - it did not deduct the additional 10%, so it was roughly 37 bucks - am I doing it wrong, or do they just not stack that many codes? When I got to payment, I used the 'apply a gift card or online certificate, entered my account number as it's shown on the back of my edge card, and the subsequent PIN number - only shows 16% off and SAVER being used and applied.

I added my EDGE cards to my accounts first. Click on "My Accounts" and then "EDGE card".

I no longer have to type in my EDGE card again. It applies the extra 10% automatically on the checkout page. I'm looking at a few games with all discounts applied right now.

Ah, the final billing page is a bit misleading. It tells you to enter the account number which is in the middle of the card, and does NOT give you the discount - you have to enter the number on the yellow sticker that's all bunched up.

It's still going to be $36.38 for me - 2.38 tax included - for some reason, the CAG16 code is giving me 14.4% off, which is incredibly odd. (3.60 off of MGS Subsistence and 2.88 off Substance)
